Anyone else having an issue with not being able to change the default ringtone to something else? I have used Custel 1.2 and Black 2.0 - both for some reason keep defaulting back to Ring-WindowsMobile no matter is selected. I've tried rings from my memory card, and rings in the Windows/Rings folder. Either way, within a few hours ... back it goes to Ring-WindowsMobile.

Have you tried putting your custom ringtones in the My Ringtones folder?

I had that issue with Black 2.0 but so far it's fine with Black 2.5 (installed 4 days ago).

Just tried putting rings into \My Documents\My Ringtones (on device internal memory) ... I assign a new ringtone from one of those in the My Ringtones folder. I power off the phone (soft reset), go back to that screen - I see that my ringtone is selected ... so I just hit ok - upon hitting ok I see the ringtone selection flicker and suddenly it's back to Ring-Windows Mobile (the default one). Very strange ... in WM5 I used to be able to pick ring tones that were at the root folder of my storage card as well, and I can see those rings in WM6 as well and select them too. But after a while, it just defaults back to the Ring-Windows Mobile ringtone. So Dutty v2 and Black 2.5 don't have this issue? Maybe I'll migrate to Black 2.5...

have you tried using o2 plus and setting up a sound profile... that seems to work for me. If you need it, search for o2 plus (ideally v2.3)

if you are using any other music player besides windows media player you need to go in an unassociated the other player for mp3.

Black 2.5 fixed this. I upgraded to Black 2.5, now I can use tones from the memory card or internal memory.

From testing, on WM5, and now Black 2.5, I can put .WMA files in the following directories and they are seen by the operating system and show up in the ringtone selection drop down menu when editing a particular contact (for custom ringtone per contact) or for the main system:
\Windows
\Windows\Rings
\My Documents\My Ringtones
\Storage Card
(only at the root of the storage card, not in any sub folder)
The key seems to be playing the ringtone after selecting it. If played once, it sticks.
