Sorry for the bad title of my thread
I recently joined to this great forum hoping you'll solve my problem
I just bought that damn O2 xda mini S mobile (for me and my social situation a very expensive mobile) with about 12 months of my total monthly salary
I thought that I've already entered a world of new technology!!!!
I don't know what is wi fi for? and don't want to know
I don't know what is the radio version update for what? and also doesn't intended for that function?
all I wanted is to read some books , apply few calendars , perform some tasks , and that's all
I was shocked with a damn hanged device.
an incoming call with hanging , a SMS hangs my device.
and you still talking about great device with GPRS and a great wi-fi?
what is that where is the functionality of this stupid device as a moooooooooobile?
I tried many OSystems and no improvements
Not the manufacture's one , Not any of that forum ?
My question is . Is this a true mobile?

ok im just going to say you shouldnt check this post for a couple days because other users are going to flame the hell out of you.

Now, there are things that we here at xda-developers have done to our phone to make them work very fast and become very reliable. I suggest that you look at some other posts and try to figure things out.

There will be a picture of your phone and then there will be different sub-forums, please just look.

You could at least type "what is wi-fi" into google, it'll will tell you the answer in less then a second.

But getting back to your post, im running Wm6 on my HTC Wizard, and it's incredibly fast and reliable.

I do not have any problems with my phone!!! Do you know why i dont? cus i took the time to research about my phone and read what can be done to it to make it so much better. Yes when i first got the phone with the T-mobile rom, i was abit let down, but that is cus the rom was badly made. But i am now running WM6 and it is running faster then i have ever had it, and i built it myself use a kitchen, so it is how i want it not some company.

Can i just say that the phone goes for about £200, I could have got you a Good PDA for less that will "read some books , apply few calendars , perform some tasks". And that you dont know what WIFI is and dont want to know, just says alot about you!!! I would just sell it to someone that knows What to do, and go back to using call boxes, (thats if you could work that out)

First answer I'm 44 years old
2nd I bought that device to help me in my job as i'm a doctor and have many
references , cases , calendars , and my patients' tasks, etc.
by the way the OS now in my device is your Xplore 1.1
In our country the mean monthly income is about 80$ (not me of course)
and this device costs me about 440 $
3rd question yes this device turns me mad as I surprised with it hanged and lost my incoming calls and sms
I tried everything I could and later I entered this forum may be I found an
answer to my problems
It doesn't matter to me if Wi-Fi , GPRS are excellent or not as these are not
of my importance
at all I thought I finished carrying my lab-top everywhere and replaced it with
a mini laptop with but unfortunately I finally carry a hanged device
I have one question to all of you
How many time you soft reset your device/day ?
Me at least 10 times a day.

In all seriousness hasanemara, don't go ballistic before you simply take the time to re-flash your device, and see if it doesn't correct the problem. If you practice medicine like your temperament suggests, you must not have many patients who survive.

I guess my first question to this (after reading his second post) is why are your running a custom ROM like XPlore 1.1? Don't get me wrong, its a fantastic ROM, but did you buy the phone this way (with XPlore loaded on it) or did you do this yourself? I'm curious if you have the real XPlore 1.1 rom or the Hong version (which has a ton of "crap" built into it and might explain your hang problems). You need to tell us what you have loaded on your phone, as personally XPlore 1.1 was one of the most reliable WM6 builds I've seen (and to answer your question, I think I only had to do a softreset on it twice in the 10+ days I was running that rom (and one time was my own fault)).

Definetly look to see what apps you are running and have on your device.

And yes, I personally consider my Wizard a mini-laptop computer as it has become so reliable and all after moving to the roms in these forums.

where are you? perhaps part of the issue is location. your radio rom will work better or worse based on your location, play around with radio's until you hit on the one that fits best for you.
i love my wizard. it IS my portable pc, and yes i DO get every call and text message. i hardly ever reboot, and it rarely hangs. i read e-books, surf the internet (wi-fi is great for that) and plan my life on my wizard. x-plore 1.1 rom is fantastic, stable and quick. not all 3rd party programs will run on wm6 (as i discovered the hard way). and quite honestly, xda is the BEST resource to learn all about your wizard and how to use it, and improve it.
barring that, i'd gladly send you money for it if you really hate it that much...
search xda. read the various threads, not just the wm6 threads. learn how it works, what it likes and doesn't like, and what will make it better. there are many brilliant folks here that can help...just don't blame them because you don't like your ppc.

I have to admit, I felt similar about the phone too. It worked well until it didn't, and it pissed me off that my phone was incredibly unstable. I thought I broke it by flashing stuff left and right to try to fix my problem. My phone went dead for a while and would freeze with a right softkey. It turns out, the software was fine. In fact, my power connector was loose despite its solid connection to the motherboard. Needless to say, after opening it up and tinkering with it, my phone is now solid. I had to basically break it off and put it back on.

I just had to play devil's advocate and say that at one point, I was ready to sell it and be done with it. Now, I'm glad that I have my phone and no one else does. All I can say is, it caused me months of problems until I fixed it myself. Manufacturing tolerances could definitely use some work.

Ok, maybe you should try a different rom, i would say that Faria Real WM6 Vanila is a really good one to use. You can download and flash it to your phne, or you can cook it up and take out the stuff you dont need, it is really simple to do!

For a 44, you ought to live within your own means. I mean, I like having a Porsche but still, I try to save money, I take the public transport. I dont even own a car (although cars here are cheap, petrol is the killer). For a 12 month salary device, you ought to be more patient to do your research before a purchase, just like you should do more research before flashing your device. If you were to do more research, probably the Palm Z22 is more of a functional (not tweakable) device for your usage. Or else, paper and pencil is good enough.

Ok, for us to help you, you ought to start giving us more useful information than how much you need to pay for the phone. Example, which ROM have you tried, which method have you use to flash your phone, is your phone G3/G4, radio, IPL/SPL version, where did you bought your device (eBay?) for possible hardware failure, it is a MiniS (e.g. from O2) or just Wizard, is the phone provided by any of the telco company in your country, software that you've installed, etc.

I agree with hanmin, we need more information. We can't diagnose your complaint until we know the histroy, etc. (sound familar?)

I know for a fact that if you're IPL/SPL aren't updated you're PDA will be an absolutle dawg for instance.

We've had our fun, sorry but it WAS a little funny. Now kindly provide us with your info and we'll try and help.

And as mfrazz noted, try flashing the real Faria ROM or such. And SOMETIMES one needs to flash a ROM twice, has happened to me once or twice.

I had about 6 wizards in last 10 months. 4 of them are G3s and 2 of them are G4. I never had any issue(with factory firmware and proven WM6 flashes in this forum)with calls or wifi. This is my primary phone and I extensively use the wifi,bluetooth too.

To start with, I think it should work fine with providers flash, unless you have bought this phone in black market with hardware problems. I would not spend my 1 year salary on something which I have no clue at all, infact I won't even spend 1/10 of monthly salary on something which I don't know and does not bring any value to my day to day life.

I bought O2 xda mini S device with wm5
then I upgraded it to wm6 in a site if the forum permits that
it is www.ppcwarez.org
Then later I flashed it with Xplore 1.1 from this forum
all the programs I have are:-
1- isilo (installed on storage card)
2- battery status (isntalled on device)
3- ptravel last version I think
4- Voice command v1.6 UK
5- SPB diary and SPB mobile shell
6- Resco explorer

I don't have GPRS and I use bluetooth hands free

The mobile for me is to editing calendar , notes , sending and receiving calls
and sms
reviewing some sorts of clinical papers or electronic books
I tried different times to replace a program with another many time to have
stability of my device and each time I did that I pre-flashing the device
or hard reseted it.

My big problem happend this week that I lost a very important SMS sent to
me three times and this caused me to loose a big deal for me.

I surprised that the device is dead (this happened daily) and I loose several
calls and SMS's .

I had Nokia before and it wouldn't hanged ever.
I hope I discussed why I'm dis comfortable with this wizard
and If you read my last post I said that 80$ is the mean salary in our country and not for me. also I mistaken the wizard cost in our location corresponding to the dollar as It costs about 780 $.

If that is all you use , I SUGGEST :
FLASH T-Mobile 2.26 Official ROM
and stick with it.
You may have droped calls/SMS depending on the RADIO you are using.

On second thought, if your provider is O2, then flash O2 latest Official ROM, that way you'll have all customisations
