Don't you have it installed by default? I have it preinstalled.

sadly for those of us who got the UK Orange E650 version, the messenger's been stripped out! Boo! Its a bit disappointing, but the phone WAS free upgrade, so to buy some IM software ...ummmm...live messenger for example, might be the only way, unless someone knows of a free program (e.g. the old agile messenger used to be free, its about 45 USD now I think).

Ahh, I see. Sorry, don't know how to get it.

Maybe there are other free clients like there are for (real) windows.?

hmm, it is included in the Dutch Orange E650.

But google and you likely find the live messenger files anyway.

I tried this cab and got a message saying 'The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions'.

Any ideas?

I tried installing the CAB file

1) Via ActiveSync, I copied it onto the E650
2) From the handset, I ran the CAB file

3) The "wait" clock starts and never ends. It just hangs in this state.

I've reset the phone several times an restarted the process and NOTHING!

Any ideas? Is this what people are complaining about? That the Orange E650 has some sort of mystery CID lock that can't be surpassed?

I know alot of you out there managed to figure it out, but after tinkering around for a while, I finally have LIVE MESSENGER WORKING ON MY ORANGE E650!!

This is what I did:

First, you need to APPLICATION UNLOCK you phone.
1) Go to: http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/
2) Enter all your phone details (IMEI, ORANGE PHONE NUMBER, FULL NAME, EMAIL)
3) After selecting "next" you will eventually be taken to a page with the CAB file ICON.
4) Download
5) Copy to you phone
6) Run the CAB file. Eventually, I got an "Installation Complete" message.

Now you are ready install Live MEssenger and have MSN back on you PHONE!
1) Go to the XDA Developer Forum to download the LIVE MESSENGER CAB File: ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com...ows%20Live.cab
2) Copy the CAB File to you phone
3) Run the CAB File

The "wait clock" stays there for what I felt it was an eternity, perhaps 3-5 min. I thought it hung-up on me. Eventually it timed out and to my surprise,
I could see the MSN and Windows Live icons on my phone Start Menu!

The rest is history!

Oh, by the way, it took a while for the Contacts to load up.

ENJOY!!
