Praise you Helmi!!!

You are AWWWWsome. I followed your instructions and my baby lives.
I am stuck with mario 9.6 rom but that ain't bad compared to a bricked phone.
I am interested in how to cook my own rom. I'm gonna keep readin though cause I apparently have a lot to learn.:D

Helmi...

I'm in the same boat except I cannot use mtty because I do not have an option for USB, only COM1 and 2......I also tried another utility I found on ppcgeeks called uni_exitbootloader without success. The details can be found here:

http://www.ppcgeeks.com/cant-update-rom-now-stuck-in-bootloader-t7982.html

My question is What can I do now???

Any thoughts....Anyone?????

I tried several times to run the mtty.exe program without success. I was running WinXP inside Parallels and each time I connected the PPC6700 to the Mac, Parallels told me that another program was using the PPC6700. After acknowledging that message mtty would not show me a USB connection.

Finally I hit on the idea of rebooting my Mac and booting directly into Windows (I used BootCamp to create a separate Windows partition). Obviously this way, Parallels was not involved. mtty immediately showed me a USB option, and 10 seconds later my unit was rebooting successfully.

Many, many thanks! Un abrazo muy fuerte!

I don't know if this is related but a I had no response from my xv6700 so I hooked it up and it would reboot over and over to the white Verizon screen. Later it gave just a white screen with an off-white "skunk line" down the screen. Now It doesn't reboot and I have just a red blinking light. I tried popping the battery when this first started with no luck as well as a hard reset using option 3 (2 function keys and pin-hole reset).

I turned USB connections off in my Vista Mobile Device center but I still don't get a USB option in mtty.

Is there anything I can do or is it bricked?

Thanks for the great forum!

I have since moved on to the titan, but it is very difficult to brick these phones. Can you get into bootloader? if i remember its camera + power + soft reset button (i think), once in that you can flash a new rom like the verizon stock to get back to basics. you should be doing this all in XP, not vista. I think some people could, but i never flashed in vista, xp was tried and true and never failed me (only reason i still have my crappy laptop with XP!)

Thanks for the reply Friguy33. Somehow, a miracle I think, it started to come back with the initial setup but it still reboots itself throughout the process and after. The battery is drained and it reports that once the today screen comes up but instead of just starting to charge it, something else I think causes it to reboot.

Prior to reboot the screen dims about 40%. I tried those three buttons but nothing new has happened and no boot loader screen. I don't understand why it keeps rebooting.

you are forgetting to go into activesync and shut off the usb connections, then unplug your apache, then reboot the apache, plug it in, then rerun mtty. you dont have to reboot the apache, but i have always found it to be best.

The easiest way to get outa bootloader is to hard reset a few times (it's gonna go back into to bootloader each time) then disable your ActiveSync/Windows Mobile Device Center USB connections and re-flash. Works for a wuite a few people I know. Give it a try.

After 2 years of hacking and flashing, I think my phone has finally bricked. After playing with several cooked ROMs over a few months, I decided I would try Bell canada's latest update. Big mistake! Of course it worked well for awhile, then I got bored with it and tried to flash Helmi's latest WM 6.1. I was now stuck with bootloader 2.04. Wich prevents you from flashing cooked Roms on to your phone.(I would end up with error 100 "this device is not compatable") I found a fix to revert back to bootloader 2.02 using mtty. Great success!! but it would still end up with the same error to any ROMs i tried. I then found out that that you can flash very "light" ROMs I found one that would flash, but was missing important parts, like having no camera! I then decided I would cook my own ROM using Build OS from the PPCKitchen. I would still end up with the error message. So I started playing around with the tools and and ended up clicking tools - Apache - RUU tool -x.04+ruu and the flash ROM screen came up so i clicked next. Poop!! Now my phone is stuck in bootloader screen! (although it says 2.02, yay!) So i decided to use the fix for this. You know the mtty "set 14 0" then "task 8" Poop! now my phone is out of bootloader and into "nothing" screen!! Well i shouldnt say nothing if I press the two soft keys (with NO soft reset poke!) I get the "press y to restore factory settings" Pressing "y" fades the screen out and removing the battery puts me right back to the nothing screen! I post this so nobody makes the same mistake. RIP 6700!! I will nver forget all our good times together! You kept me totally entertained on that 18 hr flight to thailand. You will be missed!! :(

It aint no brick. We all know yo can't brick an Apache with ANY software. Some have even tried to put Titan Drivers in it. Forget about mtty, if you're on Vista make sure USB connection are DISABLED. I have some videos on using the PPC Kitchen, check out my link.

You have to download another ROM! I had the same issue and all I did was download the original carrier ROM and flashed it! That should work!

this guide saved me a couple of times (i dunno why, but my apache frequently freeze, and after that i need to do this trick and flash a new ROM) usually it's success.. but recently my phones freeze at bootloader, and when i use mtty. it's always display this error :

USB>set 14 0
DOC_ReadFAT0 fail: Start=3FA0000,Len=200
HTCSF kEØ(HTCEUSB>

and after that my apache won't power up if i soft reset and hard reset unless i took off the battery for a couple of minutes and start to power on again

i've tried flashing a new ROM, but when the flash starting in 0% in couple of minutes and show an error "Error 112 : Ce ROM flash..."

i've google here and there.. but found no solution. is it my internal ROM problem? (because the error say "ReadFAT0 Fail..." and i fail to flash a new ROM?)

thanks guys

Difficulty getting mtty to find the USB in windows7 - even with USB disabled in mobile device center and reboot. Had winxp on an old partition - booted up and mtty showed the USB port and all was good. There may be something else needed in Vista/Win7 to properly disable the USB so that mtty can find it.
