oh man... this rocks.

Been running it today and I already have it hacked to my liking. I highly HIGHLY recommend it.

Tips:

Remove the My5 app out of the \windows\startup

Enable the Media Player today plugin then copy that code from the Default T-Mobile Blue into your custom home screen

Fix the T-Zones button to trigger your app of choice (should be IE)

Install the DialPad.cab

there's a few more small things but those will get your started.

Again, this was worth the wait. Let's hope HTC's S620 WM6 upgrade is this good...

how did you Enable the Media Player today plugin then copy that code from the Default T-Mobile Blue into your custom home screen?
I want to use the plugin with a different home screen. I also would like to take the media player plugin and use it on my new HTC Vox, any ideas how to do this?

If you look here...

You'll see that you don't need DialPad because the functionality is built-in...

what do you get when you dial 1-800-flowers? I tried that and unless there's something you have to do, it's not that smart.

As far as enabling the Media Player plugin, click on START and you'll see an app for Media Plugin. Run that and select ENABLE IN TODAY PLUGIN (all of this is from memory so the wording won't be exact, but you'll get it).

Once you've done that, the default T-Mobile blue will have it. Copy that .xml file to your PC and copy out the two lines of code from it and paste it into the .xml of your favorite today screen.

Done.

- OR -

you can skip all that and just copy this into your favorite home screen layout:

<!-- Music Player -->
<plugin clsid="{166B4205-4D6C-46d7-AA10-9647198FBF65}" name="Music Player" height="22" />
<plugin clsid="{A502A403-48E4-48b6-A0E8-75633F493F01}" name="SPN Name" height="25" />

Save it, copy it back to your phone. done.

sweet. Thanks! I know many were anti Windows mobile because the crackberry worked this way.

Now if they could only fix the problem where you are looking at favorites in IE and you type the first letter to bring one up (lets say you type G and it brings up google) and the number keys act as if you don't have a qwerty phone.

Thanks again, your find will save me (and many others) a LOT of hassle...

Got the same error here, i think that the RUU is only for the T-Mobile DASH, not for HTC S620 (unbranded)...:mad:
Itīs a shame, but its only a mather of days and the official rom upgrade will be available.

This doesn't seem much different than the Beta ROM, except it's cleaner and the additional apps were embedded into the device instead of being installed during the initial config sequence. It doesn't seem at all faster to me, though I haven't done much with it yet. There is less storage space due to the embedded apps.

I do, however, like the music homescreen plugin. Too bad I don't use my phone for music...

Looking forward to solving some of those nagging issues with this phone.

Update: I flashed this RUU and all is very cool. It's the official T-Mobile release all right, because my phone is SIM and CID locked, and no issues. You've got to remove the SIM password before flashing the ROM. Once it flashed, which took around 20 minutes or so, it took a while to update the ROM on the phone. Have patience here, you'll think it's stuck on the T-Mobile screen, but let it run. Once it boots the first time, you'll see customizations running, then it will reboot once more.

Happily, it looks great and the Internet Sharing function is also in the ROM. This is the real deal.

Go to Dashsmartzone (http://forum.dashsmartzone.com) and click on (Dash Help!) on the left hand side of the page. Look for a post by (Wizzstar). he gives all the instuctions on how to make the Slingbox work with the newly official released wm6 software upgrade (OS) on your Dash. He also gives a link to get the software you will need to make the Slingbox work on your Dash with the new wm6 software in the second post below the first post. I can confirm that it does work!

Thank u all. :D

I'm interested in making some modifications myself, but I haven't tried yet. I'm a little afraid to as well, since there isn't as much expert support on this device as there is on the higher-end devices such as the Hermes and Trinity.

I am by no means a programmer as many of the other ROM chefs are, but I am highly technical and could probably figure it out of need be. It's just be really bad if I bricked my Dash for the sake of experimentation. That would SUCK!

Enough of questions/ experiments. Iīll wait ītill HTC official release of the ROM upgrade, surelly that rom doesnīt need any unlocking in my device.

I have a Vox and would love to use the Audio plugin that my Dash now has. I tried copying over the homescreen from my dash. It doesn't display well, it's all white and as you scroll down you see the information usually seen on the screen. The audio plugin doesn't show up. If anyone has any ideas let me know. I have both phones and would love to get the audio plugin working on my Vox.

The Voice Command one maybe? If so, just run Voice Command from the start menu and select to have it active, that'll put the shortcut back in the startup folder.

OK I feel really dumb asking this, but is there a way to configure The Voice Command that is included in the ROM? I have an issue where it won't announce the name of the caller it will only play the ringtone in my headset. That is after I loaded the Voice Command 6 that I bought. It's like the phone setting is taking precedence over Voice Command. any suggestions?

Quick Question,

Does anyone know how to get to settings in messages/MMS

I am trying to set up mms with my provider (fido) but can only setup the mms configuration in connections under settings and cant seem to find the setting in the actual mms folder.

In WM5 there was an app that allowed you to download the pre-configured email accounts for push email from T-Mobile. Now I get these "701" SMS messages and I can't seem to find how to connect my Dash to these accounts. Is there any way to do that with WM6?

Thanks!

I have tried changing a german qwertz keyboard by changing the registry settings

HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/CurLang=1033 to 1031 but this was unsuccessful.

I tried changing the
HKCU/keyboard layout/Preload/1/* and default to from e0010409 to e10407 but this ended up in displaying numbers only when pressing the wer, sdf,xcv

I've noticed that this rom only has US english as the language and only 0409 mui files. could it be possible that the germany qwertz keyboard is not supported?

I've never tsted the beta rom so I dont know what was the keyboard solution for the beta rom.

This will be quite the irony - WM6 of course works much better - but there is no support for it on Mac. So I either need to downgrade back to WM5 or manually enter hundreds of contacts and calendar events.

Anyone have a link to the old ROM?

A quick search here found this:

Tools you need:
===============
- HexWorkshop from http://www.bpsoft.com/downloads/-
the ROM of your choice
- Winzip or Winrar
- a valid UNL file for YOUR phone

Preparation:
============
a) install HexWorkshop and Winzip or Winrar on your pc
b) in explorer on pc, RIGHT click on the ROM of your choice and use: "Extract files to folder ..." from conext menu Now it will unpack all the files
c) in the new folder you will have ONE file like "HRUU_signed.NBH" (*.NBH) RIGHT click on the .NBH file and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from context menu
d) You'll see on the 5th row EXCA20000 ==> !!! make it EXCA***** (5 stars) and save the file
e) Now RIGHT click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from conext menu
Search for word "BsaD5SeoA" (without quotes, case sensitive)
You'll find it around address 0x3FC6C ==> !!! replace "BsaD5SeoA" with "IMEICHECK" (without quotes) and save the file

ROM-Update:
===========
1) take SIM card and SD card OUT of the phone
2) Connect the phone running windows ce to the pc (normal way).
3) Completely Unlock your phone using our unlocker <== REALLY IMPORTANT
4) After phone is unlocked run unlocker (again) BUT when the unlocker ask for UNL file, remove the USB cable from the phone THEN press "Cancel" on the unlocker select file window (unlocker will close on PC). NOTE: The screen on the device will not show something usefull when in this mode. Most probably it is complete WHITE. !!THIS IS NORMAL!! Don't touch phone, let it like it is!
5) After you closed the unlocker, attach usb cable again (phone has still white screen) 6) start (the modified) ROMUpdateUtility.exe
7) when update finished and device started you will get a message: "Data Crashed, contact service provider" (!NO PANIC!) ==> Simply fix this problem by running the unlocker again and this time select the key file normal way (full unlock process again). In case you have problems please indicate the step letter/number which is not clear/not working for you. If you REALLY do it STEP by STEP exact like described you will have no problem.

For the most part, i'm loving the WM6.

But 2 issues. Does anyone here use PhotoContacts Pro? I'm having a problem, as the caller ID doesn't show up properly. It's almost as if the internal WM6 caller ID and the photoContacts Pro are both being displayed at the same time, so it's a picture on top of a picture. I don't have pictures assigned to the contacts via the wm6 contact icon, but only in photoContacts pro, so there is a generic picture showing up on top of the assigned PhotoContacts pro pic. Weird, and annoying. Has anyone encountered this, and/or know of a fix?

Secondly, I've noticed my homescreen changing back to the default after restarting the phone. This has happened twice already. Why is this? I tried looking in the startup folder, but didn't see anything that would force the homescreen to change to default upon restart. Anyone else have this issue? (i'm using the dash w/ tmobile service if that makes any difference...)

T-Mobile has been making changes all day. I was having problems all day with my mail. I could only receive mail for a little while. Then I couldn't get or receive email, I was getting an error. Now my .mac mail only is able to receive mail, not send. Gmail, aol can send and receive as of 5:30pm EST. They're definitely doing something with email.

This has been an issue since the Beta version. It always reverts back to the T-MobileBlue.home.xml file. You can simply replace this file with another homescreen if you choose.

I imported my contacts to Windows Contact Manager via Windows Mail.

The Vista Device Manager will not allow syncing of contacts unless you have Outlook installed.

I don't plan on buying outlook just to sync my contacts - I read their help file on how to switch this but the option it refers to does not even show up.

Im ready to toss my phone out the window!

works just fine with Vista.

I'm running the leaked official and mine doesn't do that. This was a huge complaint of mine in the beta since I created my own custom homescreen. But in the latest release, it doesn't do it.

For those that it's affecting, did you delete the My5 app from the startup? That's what I think is doing it. In the beta, the phone would turn on with your homecreen then a second or two later, switch to the T-Mobile Default.

I'm on an unlocked Dash and I'm trying to do the t-mobile wm6 upgrade. My phone is CID unlocked from imeicheck, I've modified the files in the update and I've followed the instructions here:

A quick search here found this:

Tools you need:
===============
- HexWorkshop from http://www.bpsoft.com/downloads/-
the ROM of your choice
- Winzip or Winrar
- a valid UNL file for YOUR phone

Preparation:
============
a) install HexWorkshop and Winzip or Winrar on your pc
b) in explorer on pc, RIGHT click on the ROM of your choice and use: "Extract files to folder ..." from conext menu Now it will unpack all the files
c) in the new folder you will have ONE file like "HRUU_signed.NBH" (*.NBH) RIGHT click on the .NBH file and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from context menu
d) You'll see on the 5th row EXCA20000 ==> !!! make it EXCA***** (5 stars) and save the file
e) Now RIGHT click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from conext menu
Search for word "BsaD5SeoA" (without quotes, case sensitive)
You'll find it around address 0x3FC6C ==> !!! replace "BsaD5SeoA" with "IMEICHECK" (without quotes) and save the file

ROM-Update:
===========

However I always get the 'invalid model id'. On the step where the update reads the image version on the phone it returns nothing. Is this normal?

Update Utility 3.9.3.3
Updating to image version 531.4

I figured out that it was that my5 app crap. Tried to delete that from the start up folder, but it wouldn't allow me to do it :| . So what I did was to rename the tmobile blue homescreen to something else, that way the my5 app couldn't find it upon startup, and the homescreen remained the same. The memory leak is still there with the official version.

Yes it is. I like the theory that it is just caching as it needs to, but if you open several programs, reducing your available memory to a low number, then try opening the camera, it will not close others to accomodate the camera program - it will tell you there is not enough memory!!!
Hmmmmm....

I followed this up on my Rogers S621. There was couple of differences:

1. The ROM listed EXCA10000 instead of EXCA20000
2. After the crash when I run the unlocker, the phone went to white screen but unlock failed. I re-run the unlocker and voila, it is all good.

Btw, Rogers has been selling theirs SIM unlocked, if anyone is interested.

I've upgraded to the Official T-Mobile WM6 Rom and haven't run into any major problems. I had to run a registry hack to get Voice Command to work with the home key but that was it.

Perhaps you are running into issues caused by third party software. That often happens with new roms.

For what it's worth, I installed Facade, SK Tools, SN Power Control, Total Commander, Agenda One, Coreplayer, Modaco Snooze Alarm, Modaco DoNew, and Vito CopyPaste. I haven't run into any issues yet.

I figured out that it was that my5 app crap. Tried to delete that from the start up folder, but it wouldn't allow me to do it :| . So what I did was to rename the tmobile blue homescreen to something else, that way the my5 app couldn't find it upon startup, and the homescreen remained the same. Works like a charm, no error messages or anything.

Deleting the my5 from startup folder doesn't stop it from reverting.

Renaming the tmobile blue homescreen to something else will work.

But this is just as easy...
Through testing, I have found what is causing it.
Not sure what is looking for it, but if you put the the following code in your own home screen xml, it will leave your home screen alone. I don't have a myfav5 plan and have never used the app.

i will have to play with the messaging thing but for changing the E to launch IE that is much easier. First you must make sure you run application unlocker, then install wordpad. After installing wordpad browse to \windows\Short_IE.lnk. open this file and change the line there that reads:
#36"\windows\winwap.exe" to #36"\windows\Iexplore.exe"

that should take care of the E issue. I will look into the Messaging thing and get back to you.

p.s. by messaging do you mean outlook email? let me know

And the "leaked" ROM still runs like a champ. They should have done it right the first time. No more dropped calls and phantom alarms, as far as I can tell.

VC 1.6 needs a little hack to work with my headset, but that's well documented on the site.

Thanks T-Mo for making my Dash an awesome second device. Hell, I could even switch for a week if I needed to.

Any one know of a way in WM6 on the dash to seperate the SMS and MMS messages? Like how they were on WM5? I think the new setup for that is terrible. The new SMS button is now Delete and when you go to new SMS the default is MMS I know its still pretty easy but just not as logical as WM5. I create new SMS' more than deleting and don't want MMS with SMS. I know you can view by type. Anyone know of a way in WM6 to add a folder to save texts? Just wondering if anyone could shed some light.

Also I usually use activesync over BT so i'm not sure if this has any effect. But whenever im in commanager and click exit, it takes me to the stupid activesync window. Anybody else have this annoyance?

1 thing to share. I saw other forums but not in this one, in WM5 you could just touch the jogbar to silence a incoming call without rejecting WM6 you have to double tap the bar to silence... Took me a little to figure that out. Thought I'd share..

if you count the keys the "E" key is the 36th key on the keyboardor #36, so having said that you can technically re-map any key on the keyboard by counting the keys. So if you want to re-map the enter key it would be #30. if you want to re-map the email key next to the "E" it would be #37 and so on. as far as I know this all would work.

Hi, I have an unlocked HTC branded S621 phone. My cellular company is a T-Mobile affiliate but their phones are not locked and do not use any T-Mobile branded software. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get the HTC branded WM6 ROM. If not does anyone have the original WM5 ROM just in case I have problems and want to switch back to WM5? I have the T-Mobile ROM but don't want to try it unless I know there is a way I can put it back to factory.
Thanks

gents, I have a HTC620 unbranded from Switzerland. I want to get the US-Tmobile WM6 flashed on my phone.

I used http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ to unlock the phone. I guess you guys call it CID unlock. I did that

I use the booloader update utility as described somewhere else in the forum. Invalid Model error :-(

I also tried just to use the WM6 upgarde utility from Tmobile US and I get same error.....

What can I do? I hate waiting for HTC to come out with the official unbranded version. By then I have another phone :-)

I am proof and among many others that it does upgrade ( T-mobile )

I got it on my Canadian Rogers S621 !!!!

FYI ...

Sim Unlock - Use any carrier's SIM card.
CID Unlock - Unlocking the phone's Software lock to use any other ROM ( non carrier speciic )
Application Unlock - Unlocking registry and installing 3rd party applicates that don't have certificates.

when you said yours is "unbranded and unlocked" ... does it covered the "CID" unlock ??

as of this moment ... you have to pay to get that done ... no other work around !!!

and why is it people still aiming at this "leak version" ??? go download the "official" one !!!

A quick search here found this:

Tools you need:
===============
- HexWorkshop from http://www.bpsoft.com/downloads/-
the ROM of your choice
- Winzip or Winrar
- a valid UNL file for YOUR phone

Preparation:
============
a) install HexWorkshop and Winzip or Winrar on your pc
b) in explorer on pc, RIGHT click on the ROM of your choice and use: "Extract files to folder ..." from conext menu Now it will unpack all the files
c) in the new folder you will have ONE file like "HRUU_signed.NBH" (*.NBH) RIGHT click on the .NBH file and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from context menu
d) You'll see on the 5th row EXCA20000 ==> !!! make it EXCA***** (5 stars) and save the file
e) Now RIGHT click on ROMUpdateUtility.exe and use: "Hex Edit with Hex Workshop" from conext menu
Search for word "BsaD5SeoA" (without quotes, case sensitive)
You'll find it around address 0x3FC6C ==> !!! replace "BsaD5SeoA" with "IMEICHECK" (without quotes) and save the file

ROM-Update:
===========
If you REALLY do it STEP by STEP exact like described you will have no problem.

a thousand thanks to IMEI-CHECK~!!

I have the S621 unbranded and i get ERROR 300 Invalid Update Tool.

found this

Switch Text Input Mode (XT9 English, ABC)
The Dash defaults to the XT9 input method, in order to change the input method for an application follow these instructions. Note, after a restart the Dash will default back to XT9, and at this time there is no known setting to make ABC the default text input method.

Don't follow that method ... follow this one:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1089887&postcount=1

reason is .. you need the bootloader ( step # 3 is important )
RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe

I've used this methos and have been back & forth between WM5 & WM6 whenever I wanted to ... and customized it to my liking and then Back it up as an image with "Sprite Backup" ... wonderful & saves alot of time when you have an image ... sort of like cloning using "Acronis image " on the desktop ... all settings and tweaks remains intact ...etc

ofcourse ... none of these will work if your device is NOT CID unlock ... without it .. you are stuck to carrier specific ROM ... no other way around it except to pay for the service !!!

None of the those steps worked. I've tried all kinds of things from different posts on this forum and nothing with my S621 and I know the phone is unlocked and I app unlocked it and ran the HTC unlocker and still nothing. Oh well I guess I'll have to wait and see if HTC will release it on their end.

I searched for homescreen as well and didnt find anything regarding the wm6 homescreen reset problem.
I Noticed that this happens when you also select the Music Plugin. I suspect that this is being started up when you reboot as the home screen is there for a brief moment after a reboot and then changes.

If there is a known solution for this please link me, Thanks.

ok, got it, it was listed here but not really layed out, im hoping the added title will direct people toward it on a search.
Basicly its as simple as deleteting the tmobile blue home screen from application data/home
delete it or move it and reboot. it works.

Tmobile dash homescreen home screen resetting.
