OK : Just did a quick test....

Radio : 1.38.00.01
Protocol : 32.71.7020.12H
Rom : 2.11.61.6 (23/3/07)
Build : 15673.3.3.1
ipl : 1.01
spl : 1.09

Interesting the radio is 1.38.00.0.1 - i.e. quite old. I wonder if this has been tweaked for Orange - it's the same as the one in the French rom. I might try installing this radio to see how it goes.

Hi guys,
I am using Wm6 Black 2.5 (OLIPRO 2.10) on my M3100 and when I am trying to install this update (BTW, it is a WM6 ROM ? ) I get an error from the RUU application that it cannot connect to the device (ERR 260). I have installed the Vista drivers and I don't know what to do ( I have read the guides and read the forum). Thanks in advance for any advice!

If you tell me how to work out the Ext. Rom version number I'll have a look and report that too.

I have the same error as well. Is it because I have used hermes unlocker v3a to my M3100?

@PETE that is not the reason the upgrade is not running. He can just FLASH Olipro1.10 which is 1.04 based then flash this ROM. However the 260error is not coming from the device. It is coming from the PC. I do not have a VISTA machine so maybe someone else shed some light. He should also search the threads for that error because it has been mentioned numerous times before.

I tried to install the new M3100 ROM downloaded from the Orange page, and at the step before the M3100's screen goes tricolor, it got resetted and disconnected from my PC. The next thing I know I got an error saying "Your phone is not connected to your PC blah blah". Am I missing something here?

P.S: I dont have a craddle, the phone is connected using USB cable.

I am currently running WM6 Black edition, with HardSPL and an updated radio installed...

But, due to fascia and WAP problems, Orange have said I can return the handset to them for free and get a new phone. I'm thinking that if they see I have flashed to WM6 they will return it and say I fluffed it up.

If I rolled back to WM5 with this ROM, would my warranty and everything with Orange be perfectly fine, and they wouldn't be able to see that I used WM6?

@Exzes You Should Be Ok If You Flash Back To This New Orange ROM, You Will Want To Check 'Force Using SSPL' Not Autodect To Allow You To Downgrade The SPL To The Orange Original One.

The Only Problem You May Have Is If They Look At Your CID And You Have Super CIDd Your Device. But 9/10 I Guess They Won't So Flash And Return It.

@crazyC

Im Not Sure About That, I Think You May Get An Error. The Best Thing You Can Do Is, Download Dutty's NBH Tool DeCompile The .nbh File In My File, And Then Create A New .nbh File With Just The OS And ExtRom In It.

Personally this rom feels a heck of a lot more stable than the original WM5 rom my unit shipped with. It's quite solid navigating around, and there are rarely any kind of freezing.

Does anyone running the new Orange ROM have a list of differences between it and the latest HTC ROM?

I'm running the HTC at the mo and its been fine until a couple of days ago, where the Start menu keeps opening and closing for no reason, and the screen doesn't work, etc.. so was going to reflash the HTC, but would the Orange be a better option?

Cheers,
Bobby

AndyOT
3rd May 2007, 03:01 PM
The only difference that I can see is that I now have a 'never ask again' option when I switch on the camera and it prompts me about where I'd like to store the images! Maybe it's more stable but frankly, the old rom didn't freeze that much anyway..

Are Orange coming out with a WM6 update? If so, why would they bother with this WM5 update?

Can anyone confirm if this rom has fixed the dpad bug (where you cant press in more than one direction at any one time?)

Looking to upgrade but dont think its worth it unless above bug is fixed as current rom is pretty rock solid for me.

If i only SIM unlocked my SPV using pof's unlocker version 3, must i do something different than just use the install from the official site?
Can i use the SIM unlocker again after the update?
The OS stops responding sometimes and needs a soft reset, which is quite annoying; hope this update makes it more stable.

Thanks!

I don't have much time to read all the post on the forum, i need short answers to avoid any possible problem.

Can anyone clarify the situation for me?

jpxdude
14th May 2007, 05:02 PM
Personally what I did was sim unlock using pof's utility and also apply Oli's hard SPL to protect my unit when flashing. When I downloaded the orange rom, I extracted it using win-rar (right-click -> extract to folder) then downloaded the CustomRUU file also. I took the .nbh file from the extract, and put it in the same dir as the CustomRUU.exe file, run it, and installed from it using the autodetect for hardSPL. That now allows me to run this rom, keep the sim unlocked, and give me easy potential to switch to different roms when I feel like it.

Hi, I’ve got an Orange SPV m3100, which I’ve managed to brick, partially.

Whilst attempting an upgrade of the firmware from Orange (April 07 Release) I disengaged the USB cable at 16%. :(

My device is now stuck at the bootloader, I completed the "recovery" part of the Orange ROM program which reported recovery successful now repeat upgrade..... however upgrade does not work since it says:-

Upgrade from :-

Blank (Previously before upgrade attempt this had original ver number in).

To:

Latest Orange ver....

When upgrade failed it left no image file on the SPV upon which to “upgrade” from, so now my SPV has the 3 colour screen. I’ve managed to get it past the bootloader screen, Orange screen displays, and then Windows Mobile splash screen but nothing beyond that presumably because the image file is not yet on it.

On bootloader screen shows

HERM100
1PL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.09

Any ideas? I have been reading XDA-Developer WIKI / Forum / MoDaCo for days now, I've tried all sorts of things, mtty (Can get to device), SSPL, managed to use this to get past bootloader, now shows Orange screen, then Windows screen and gets stuck).

Since I can't establish an ActiveSync partnership it would be ideal for a solution to flash my device from my MicroSD card directly, is this possible?

Help, please.....pretty please.

Have you tried running the Orange upgrade with the phone on the three coloured screen? If so, what happens?

Hi Forza, I have run the Orange ROM update through the tri-colour bootloader, it goes through the normal checks, says you are upgrading from :-

From "Blank"
To "Latest Orange"

Click accept, then phone screen changes to 0% progress, and applet on PC returns "INVALID VENDOR ID" and stops.

I've run mtty and info 32, this returns FF so can see it is CID locked, but because I can't establish an Activesync session can't run the SuperCID/SimUnlock type stuff on the Wiki.

I've got USB connection ok, but can't upload to it. I can also put stuff on my MicroSD card, but how do you make it run a program directly from the card? Tried lots of things suggested on the boards but gerrin nowhere.

I think the Radio is screwed, ..... and needs reflashing.

Hope someone has some answers, lost without my gadget.

What do you get in mtty if you do an 'info 2'?

If the Orange update is bombing out with an invalid vendor ID it might be that the CID has become corrupted - if this is the case then if the OS has KITL enabled you may have a chance of recovery, if not or if the KITL recovery fails then it's back to the service centre for repair. If that is the case I would hope that Orange would deal with it quickly for you as you were flashing the approved update, I'd just not tell them you yanked the USB cable.

I'm currently using a french(Switzerland) orange 3100. If i install this english rom will my OS change to english. Would there be any special settings required to work with my CP?

Based on information here; I suppose, I should use cooked ROM by mousey_ and using Force SSPL option rather than ROM from orange, uk. Is that correct?

The cooked ROM has quite old radio (Radio: 1.34.00.10). Does it really matters a lot? If yes, is it possible to have with latest one?

Thanks in adance for valuable feedback/help.

I upgraded recently to the Orange supplied upgrade....And I'm none too happy. The phone is much more unstable, crashes regularly, eats batteries and is less capable of getting a signal....

Think I'm gonna have another go at flashing it with the same "upgrade" - and if I still have problems, I'll get Orange to change the phone...

Well, I've had a few problems lately with dropped calls, ignored calls and the like. The phone won't ring but people either hear ringing for a while before VM or they go straight to VM.

I'm going to borrow a phone for a bit from a friend on Orange too and have a play with 'flashing' the rom.

Warning: You will have some problems if you try to downgrade to WM5 as the radios are not quite compatible and will lead to some new problems for you. That being said try toi make sure that you don't upgrade the radio beyond 1.48 until AT&T or Orange UK or whoever comes out with an official wm6.1 rom.

Good luck:)
