Hi:
I can’t manage my Jabra (BT8010) to show caller ID, even with JETware (v1.30).
I recently made the upgrade on Jabra to V 1-33-0 and still can get caller id to function.
Anybody have a solution?
Thanks.

you need to reset the Jabra to factory default and pair them again

Thanks for your hawser, but I did as you say, and the Jabra display only shows the number that is calling not the name that is in my contact list.
Could it be something that went wrong in the first boot of the Advantage?

Hi,

The Jabra can't look into your contacts on your PDA. It shows the number(caller-id). But you can add names into your Jabra BT8010 with theconfig software(you can donload it from the Jabra site). If I'm correct then you can add up to 20 names and numbers. When the BT8010 recognizes the caller-id and it matches the internal list of names/numbers, the it will show the name on the display.

no, shouldn't be, btw, you need to have the caller ID function turn on from Jetware. Now delete the bluetooth headset from your device, software restart, reset your bluetooth headset to factory default, then pair again. Hope this will works

Forgive me but I don’t think it works like you said “The Jabra can't look into your contacts on your PDA”
IMHO, is the Advantage software that should “send” the caller id (name) to the Jabra.
That’s watt JETware does with several hands free devices like Parrot, etc.
As wu5262 said, and if the software is compatible, the caller id (name) must appear in headset as long as you have them in your contact list on the pda/phone.
I thing I’m going to do a hard reset in the Advantage to see if it works ok.
In the mean wile if anybody finds the solution, it will be welcome.
Thanks again

good luck with your try, just to let you know, it took me a while to get mine working, you might have to play around with the Jetware advance setting, i have the voice dialing and suspend after call disable, the others are all on. And also i am using version 1.2, the beta version doesn't work for me. And remember you need to factory default and pair the headset again when you done with changes.

Hi,

I just tested it (again). Or it shows the caller-id or the name stored in the Jabra BT8010. :( So you don't see the name stored in your (PDA)contactlist corresponding with the caller-id

ok firstly, the DOPOD U1000 works perfectly with iTech clip D, you can display caller Name on it with no problem.

The step is nothing special, personally i suggest you delete the pairing of headset first, then install Jetware, then go to Advance setting in Jetware, tick the caller ID box, then software restart you machine, make sure you factory default your headset, then pair them together again, now you can have caller Name on.

in my case the jabra doesn't show call id for the phone list it stores. It looks a fail of jabra. did you open a case at jabra support for the issue?

Ok, I opened a case at JetWare about the JAbra issue and here is the respond:

We are investigating some issues with caller ID on Jabra headsets. I will let you know when we have a solution.

This is weird. I don't want my BT8010 to use wireless stereo most of the time, I just want it to use Hands Free so all my sytem sounds should stay with the phone (will this save battery?) Anyway, when I untick the Wireless Stereo option in Bluetooth settings, it makes no difference whatsoever, i.e. all sounds (except phone ring) are sent to the headset. Can anyone else confirm this? It's not exactly a major issue, but it is mildly annoying!

Updatingg the firmware solves this issue of sounds going to bt headset. At least mine rings on both the phone and the Jabra. The latest is on the jabra site.

I'm running 1.33 and it is still the same. My phone does ring as well, but it is a pain that switching wireless stereo off doesn't actually stop all other sounds being sent to the headset.

And about firmware, yeah I didn't realize that, on my jabra's download page for asia and europe there only v1.25 for newest firmware, but in US site the v1.33 exist, here the direct link:

I just received my i-Tech Clip D. For just half of the price of Jabra BT8010, the i-Tech Clip D can show contact name easily without much hasle. The only drawback is that it can't vibrate. But it does has buzzer to overcome it. I'm using Jetware v1.30 currently. At last I don't have to take a look at the phone whenever calls coming (I tend to put the phone in my pocket).

I see no perfect world. I selected jabra because vibration and screen with call in information. It's because in a meeting I prefer only me "feel" a call come in, or in a place with huge noise.

If i-Tech Clip D hasn't vibration, it is same limitation for me that jabra with screen caller name. World is not perfect.

I think I will wait next patchs from Jabra and next wm6 with other bt bluetooth stack, in order to see if the caller id is solved ...And by the moment I am enjoining the fact of stereo heads when hear music, it is really nice and comfortable.

Tried that, not working either. Just stuck showing "calling..." on the LCD screen. Instead double clicking (without holding volume button first) would dial the last call in phone.
Any tweak to increase the sound quality? I found Jabra's sound better and clearer.

Meanwhile, the only solution is to use both of them. Use Jabra in a meeting and while listening to music. Aside from that just use i-Tech for normal everyday use.
Regarding Jabra's vibration, the i-Tech buzzer sounds loud enough for alerting incoming call (vibration is better for sure).

Just got my I-tech R35 clip, its great.
It comes with a small 1headphone short cable inear adaptor and a stereo headset.
I completely ignored these and plugged in my sony noise cancelling headphones.

Music: sounds great.
Voice: sounds great.

Its a good solution if you want to use your existing expensive headphones. Its small and will easily work like a normal clip headset with its supplied single headphone. just swap the headset to your nice music listening ones for music and single when at work.

Worked with the Ameo with no problems at all.

I like the fact that you can use bt8010 with two phones. I have it paired with both my work phone and private one. The stereo headphone function is a bit overestimated. There is often cuts in the sound. Especially when you wear the Athena in a pocket.

No cut out at all with my ones. I found the cheap headsets cut-out, and the good ones dont.
My Itech R35 has NO dropout, my plantronics have NO dropout. The cheap maplin Iwing ones cut out sometimes. You can adjust your BT settings with a reg editor to make it better. Also, put it into REAL stereo mode too!

I downloaded from links provided in this thread.
The point is that after being flashed into 1.33 the device hasn't been set into normal operation mode (after flashing back to 1.25 there was a message of setting it in normal operation mode).

Hi, I had the same problem, but found a solution!
After you failed to upgrade firmware, follow these steps.

1. Exit Control Center.
2. Startup Control Center.
3. Downgrade firmware to 1.25. (You can revive BT8010!)
4. Exit Control Center.
5. Un-plug BT8010 from USB port.
6. Power on BT8010 (Entering pairing mode automatically.)
7. Pair anyway. (Before pairing, you can't enter setup.)
8. Enter setup and perform "Settings > Factory reset > Are you sure?".
9. After while plug BT8010 into USB port.
10. Startup Control Center.
11. Upgrade firmware to 1.33 or 1.40(latest now).
12. DONE!! HAPPY SUCCESS!!
13. Exit Control Center.
14. Un-plug BT8010 from USB port.
15. Enjoy!
