hello guys.i can't update my charmer.i have vista with the same program as active sync but for vista. and i have on my phone without sim.it says "setup failed-\cert_SPCS.cab is not valid windows ce setupfile".my s110 has windows 2003.what am i doing wrong?

Yesterday, June 16, 2008, I changed three times in the version on my MDA Compact II.
1. MDA Compact II possessed the original Russian WM5 until yesterday. It rebooted himself three or four times on day.
2. I could not install WM6 of Vlodeck because of an error message. I do not remember number of error.
3. Firstly I installed the Czech WM5.
4. Then I installed the Chinese WM5.
5. Since then, I easily installed English WM6 of Vlodeck.
Now on my MDA Compact II - English WM6 and it do not reboot himself any times.

P.S. Now I shall be search Russification to this WM6.

Dear Vlodeck.
I've used my MDA Compact II some days only. It worked a fast and fine. :)

Then I've installed LEng ( _http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=192 ) for translate WM6 in Russian and MDA after second restart died. :(

When I click button Power-On it begin Starting and on the screen I see four string messages (version radio modules and so on)... and it is freeze.
When I press button Power-Off it is still freeze and do not Power Off. I need remove the battery to Power Off.
Soft and hard reset do not solve the problem.

As I understand, now I need direct access to ROM-store to write the WM6 into flash memory using hardware programmer. Because ActiveSync can not connect to it.

Can be it restored in some way?
What do you think about it?

Go to bootloader mode and run an official WM5 upgrade. After that everything should go back to normal. You will find everything in the Charmer Wiki. If the WM5 upgrade shows Invalid Vendor ID error, you will need the no_id ruu to proceed. It can be find somewhere around Charmer Upgrading etc. forums. Good luck.

Press and hold the POWER button, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your MDA compact II."

But it is wrong.

I've did translate it:
HARD-RESET:
Press and hold down two buttons on the left side. Use the stylus press and hold down RESET button at the bottom of your MDA compact II. 5 seconds later RESET released, but continues to hold down the two buttons on the left side until you see on the screen caption "Press send ...". Release two side buttons, and push the green tube (Send).

I've did Hard-Reset today morning and MDA rebooted. Now it work. It have Russian menu.

Linux runs on anything that computes 1+1. However, it's up to you to get it running. :D

There was a project to port linux to Wizard but it's dead already I think. Even if it was possible, my guess is that someone who would develop it would be able to get it only past booting process and that's all. Running Linux on WM devices is a pain, trust me.

Hi everybody!

I installed this version of WM6 on my T-Mobile MDA II (HTC Charmer) about one year ago. Except for a few bugs, which I will list below, it works great. Very pretty, very stable. Unlike my old WM5, no crashes at all.

Nonetheless, these are the issues I found, sorted by priority:

1.) USB charging only works with patch. The patch is not very reliable (needs to be re-installed after soft- reset). You don't know if the patch works or not until you try recharging the phone via USB. If the battery drains instead of being charged, the patch is not working.

2.) The Option "Ring & Vibrate" for incoming calls does not work. The phone does not ring (or vibrate) at all.

3.) The volume control does not work during a phone call.

4.) The Calender and Address Book (hardware) buttons do not work.

That's it, except for these issues the operating system works A-OK!

Even with this rom, I've never had the issues you described (except for no. 1). But I recommend that you install the latest TouchFLO 2.1 rom.

A have a problem with HTC Charmer after installing WM6.
Installation has been completed, but after hard reset I have just screen with IPL 1.12, SPL 1.12.0000, GSM 01.12.20, OS 6.1.0.0 and that's all.
I've tried Hard reset hard reset again and again, but result is the same.

ActiveSync can not connect to Charmer , so I can't install another ROM.

Please help.

You should've read the instructions. You need at least 2.xx IPL/SPL, and seeing you have 1.12 - that's the reason why the flash process didn't work.

If you can get to bootloader mode, download an official WM5 rom for Charmer from T-mobile and flash it.

please explain, what is the bootloader mode. Is it mode on my HTC charmer or this is some kind of specific ROM. If this is mode on my Charmer please advice how to activate this mode. If I need some kind of program to enter the bootloader mode, please give link to this file.

Is it connected with IPL SPL, because I have them 1.xx.

Or I need to do some kind of preconditions and then upgrade?
Or maybe it be better for me to use "v. 000.5b WM6 Essentials"?

I would like to say thank you for this great ROM. I tried all of the roms published here and found this as the most stable and fastest.
One interesting thing I found is battery is charging via USB sync cable without installed the suggested patch.

So hello again .. May you please help me .. to be more explicit ... for those who are good .. I notice that there are people who are really good at it .. please help me .. I tried to make rom update to tell how I made the above update the rom but when I tried to do with phase shelltool .. I get cable from the pocket ... big mistake .. for it was immediately blocked .. I tried to give the hard reset. I removed the battery .... I tried to give soft reset .. but in vain .. all that apears to me when i turn the pocket on its:
