And I run and install all vague .cabs on my device!!
What is this supposed to be and where did you get it. Are you implying this is the fabled HTC fix, yet for some reason HTC have chosen not to release it themselves, but you have leaked it??????

Having just gone thru the SD card failure routine (followed by neccessary total rebuild!!), I'm keen to try anything to fix this "fault" on my O2 Orbit.....However, I'd love to know what this does before implementing the "solution".....
....I think what I'm trying to say is: if this is the solution then what was the definative problem? and what does this solution do?
Hope you can help and I really hope this fixes it...many thanks!

Thanks mastelos,
This file is only on Greece Qtek/HTC forum but there is no information about it on P3300 updates page. Maybe you could find out why? Is this an unofficial or made by Greek programmers patch - not send to HTC headquarter yet?
Cheers,

Downloaded but not installing until I've seen some release details from HTC. I also am not sure if I should remove SDsentry before I install it....I too have downloaded it but like you, I don't want to run it until either (1) HTC release some details or (2) somebody who has been brave enough to try it confirms that it doesn't do anything malicious.
I can't think of any reason why you would need to remove SDsentry first, though. All this does is put a file called sdsentry.txt in various important directories and then warns as soon as it has any problems reading any of these files (which suggests that the microSD card is corrupted).

its nothing malicious..
for the corrupt problem until now its ok but its very soon to say that is really solved!

Yeh, I just loaded it up. Normally most cab files I install I get some message about unknown publishers etc. Not with this, It looks legitimate to me. I think htc watch this space so we can do an evaluation for them.
One more thing that has really been bugging my orbit has been the soft reset loop, after installing this cab my orbit went through only one cycle, maybe coincidence but that is the first time in months that that has happened.
gghh

I just installed it on a german p3300 - seems to work fine after install - i will see if there is any sd corrupption in the next weeks

Update:
Got bit late last night, But this morning orbit is 100% ok, again almost every morning I normally have a slight corruption in program files. Today all is good.
Not sure but I also think that maybe the thing is even reading the card a bit faster than it was.
Just a thought obvious to everyone, but Artemis was a Greek goddess, HTC must like Greece for some reason.

maybe this is the answer.....:)
well isend yesterday an e-mail to htc Greece to explain me if this an official or custom i'm waiting for answer
from my experience i believe this is an official patch because htc Greece never
gave to us a non official rom or anything one year now i use their products
i do not install the file because i do not have the corruption problem and i have 3300 from 27/9/2006 us you can see on my previews posts
i believe that they (htc Greece) recieve the file on friday afternoon and put it immediately on their site and from monday all the htc sites will have the patch
*sorry for bad english

I installed the patch last night. Now, almost 24 hours later, and after using my Orbit a lot, I have not had a single warning from SDsentry!
Installing the patch required a reboot. It shows up in the "Remove Programs" menu if you decide you want to get rid of it. So far, I can't see any reason why you would want to remove it.
Looks like Well Done, HTC!

Well after months of never having card corruption, it hit me last night, and as good to form, my backup on the PC was out of date. Thankfully the damage wasn't too bad.
So I've installed this patch, which goes on smoothly, as said above, it is signed so you don't have to agree to install it, and it is listed in remove programs as "HTC Patch DrvUpdate".
Theres no instant way of testing it I guess, as I had to wait months for my first corruption anyway.

Good morning mastelos!
Thank you very much for your great program! It solved all my problems with my SD-Card and my Artemis HTC-P3300. No more crashes!!!
Before I installed this patch I had about 3-8 crashes a day (counted with SD-Sentry) - now it's finished and all my software including phoneAlarm, SK-Tools, Total Commander and TomTom 6 are working well and without any failures - great !!!
After installing the cab-file, you have to do a softreset - and then every thing is working well.
For all the people who has the same problem with SD-Card and Artemis, I only can recommend to do the same thing!
Kind regards, nahpets

I've installed the patch. Restarting was required. I'm testing the Orbit by running a number of programs that tended to cause the problem in my case, e.g. CorePlayer, TomTom.
So far so good but we can't be sure yet. Let's hope this is our "the light at the end of the tunel".

Even if you don't have problems with the memory card error, id sugest installing this update. I did, and panning routes in Tomtom Navigator 6 is now much much faster. i did a route from devon to kent int the uk and it normaly takes about 1-2 minutes to calulate. Now its done in seconds. highly recomended.
By the way i have a 2 Gib sandisk microsd card. and have never had any errors with it. but installed the fix just to be on the safe side. Now im really glad i did cos of the speed increase.
Anyone else get this speed increase ?

SO FAR SO GOOD.
No further corrupt error received, despite multiple vulnerable software testings, adjustment of power-off to several minutes, and multiple uses of power-on/off button.
I can also confirm that the general speed of the device is much better.

i did nothing just a copy of the file
some things i learn today is that htc GReece has this file 15 days ago and testing with some users before give this to us until now there is no corruption on any card
they say that some bug in a dll make the whole problem
i believe this is a true solusion

nearly 2 days usage with this patch and no corruption.
The card is confidently rammed with 3 TT6 maps (UK, ES, FR) and 990 Mp3's, pocketmusic, WFFF, phonealarm and resco explorer and everything is working as advertised!
About f***ing time!
It's like having a brand new phone! Never been able to fill the card over 512Mb before without almost instant corruption. Now it works like it should.
Now if they could just release a patch to get rid of 4 months worth of scratches and dents I'd be very happy.

Now that i've seen it on the htc site, i've now installed the fix. So far so good
Does this mean we are less likely to get an upgrade to WM6 from o2 if the upgrade no longer covers this problem

I have installed the official cab, an I notice that now the start is faster.
And navigation thought directories in memory card is just instantaneous.
I hadn't the problem since February, but this patch is great

Looking installed new DDL I think that thanks (with little criticism) should be given to driver maker as well: Texas Instruments who created our cool OMAP850 (and drivers for it).
I guess TI didn't do anything until HTC showed them real corrupted card (they finally could it about 3 weeks ago). Right after that TI quickly fixed card manager and voila!

Thx varvocel for replying...it is exactly the same issue.....
files disappearing, becoming corrupt or unreadable...strange renaming like for instance : something.ogg would become some~1.ogg
Is there a way to port the enhancement to toher models ? why didnt HTC release it for other than the p3600 ? the issue exists also there i'm almkot positive about it ... jsut search the wizard forum if you wanna be sure ....
Suggestions ??? this is driving me crazy..i love the wizard...but this is turning my life into hell...and i bought it used (and pda's are really expensive in my country) so what can i do ??

I updated to WM6 yesterday. I had never any card corruption, but I'm interested in the speed increase. Is it save to install this update in WM6 too?
I just looked at the file in WM6-Windows directory. The OMAP850_SDHC.dll file in there is about 3 kb smaller so I guess this file is still an old one.
Should I install the update? Did anyone install it on WM6?
Thanks in advance!

Where is the SD-Card build in?
Inside the case, underneath the battery and the SIM card.
Just to note: I've had the problem with the card becoming card2 for a long time, and had found a workaround - which was a pain to do although it fixed it.
I'm delighted to have a proper fix, which I installed yesterday. So far so good...

hmm ... this one erased Pepe's sdhc patch on my orbit. and when i reinstalled the patch it said that it had to uninstall an older version of it. so, i think that the patch here uses the same name with an older version number. could that be? or are they the same in different versions?
however, it didn't help at all in my case. in the end on my sdhc card there are still disappearing files.
