Some files are flagged as system files which is why it wouldnt uninstall.

Yeah, I wasn't nessicarily griping, just more of a word to the wise.
I had checked out the cab with cab manager before I installed it, I noticed the system files which was one reason I had installed it to the device, instead of the storage card, and created the backup right before I tried it.

I have LSVW 5/5 ROM, with pretty much only wpbears Cingular WAP settings, and this cab installed... but the stuff didn't work. I'm on Cingular, have MediaMax and all the stuff worked with the official ROM so my issues have nothing to do with my device/carrier (I'm using an 8525.)
I could get XM Radio and MobiTV to work over WiFi, but couldn't connect to any MEdia Net pages, including Cellular Video.
When I hard reset and put all the WAP/Proxy settings in by hand, I could access all the MEdia Net pages, such as Video etc., but when I clicked a video link, Real Player opened and then said it couldn't connect. And whenever I opened either XM Radio (Streaming Music) or MobiTV, I got an error message saying no connection could be found and causing the "Send Error Report" message to pop up a bunch of times.
I'm guessing this is a settings thing... any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Cingular Video site seems to feature only really bad audio/video. I actually cringed when I watched my first clip.

I got this working on Black 2.5 - you need to open Realplayer (use file explorer and open realplayer.exe in the \windows directory). In options, change connection settings from the Internet to MEdiaNet and it will work.

Thanks, this worked perfectly.
So maybe I'm a little slow in the head... but this is what I think is going on (lol like I said maybe it's common knowledge and I'm just slow but w/e) for any MEdia Net page or service to work (like Video) the proxy has to be on. But the proxy, for whatever reason, won't let XM Radio or MobiTV work.
This is why the proxy is hard coded into IE in official ROMs, that way, the connection can not have it, but IE can so as to be able to load the MEdia Net pages.
Is there a way to enable this kind of set up manually? I noticed the Proxy cabs do nothing really... they enable or disable the "Auto Detect" setting in IE, but the only thing I've noticed they do is that if I run "Restore Proxy" IE doesn't load any pages.
So I guess here is my question... what does the Proxy cabs do, and is it possible to manually "hard code" the proxy into IE so that everything will work with the settings on normal (e.g. internet connection set to not use proxy, so that WiFi/XM/MobiTV work, but PIE set up to use the proxy to access MEdia Net) ?

It's because your connection settings are configured differnetly then they are from cingular..... Has nothing to do with the cabs.

Same on LVSW, but I wanted to find the reg entry to change it to default to MEdiaNet in the CAB but it is not in the reg that I could find.

How is everyone getting this to work? I can get to the site, I pick a video, say a movie trailer or weather channel, and then I get a message saying I have to have a Media Max bundle and an unlimited connect plan. I have the PDA connect unlimited, but Media Max is NOT included. And with a PDA phone and plan, it can't be added, it shows as greyed out online, in the store and with customer service!
I have a level 2 ticket at cingular open questioning this.

I have upgraded my radio and the Custel 1.2 Cingular WM6 after reading hundreds of posts. At the risk of being flamed, I have to ask what may appear to be a stupid question. I download new CAB files via ActiveSync to "My Documents" on my 8525. I have done this dozens of times successfully, thanks to this forum. I then launch the CAB from the device and install the program/fixes. My question is simple and I could not find the answer in the forums. Can I delete the original CAB from "My Documents" folder once it has been installed to save space?

Using default wap.cingular(proxy) and isp.cingular(no proxy). Both insist I pick an appropriate Media Max bundle.

So I get to the CV page fine, click on CNN or any other, get a screen that says 'Download the 223 bytes file 'video.ram', leave 'Open file after download' checked, click Yes.
A pop up says I already have a file named this and I replace it just to make sure. RealOne player opens, connects and disconnects. It does not download any data. Error screen says 'Incorrect or malformed protocol.' Other times Realplayer says Connecting then Shutting Down and the error message says 'Clip not playable.'
Thanks for any ideas and for the 8525 PTT mapping tool. My voice dialer works great with my Nokia CK-7W hf kit. :D

hmm, do you have any other instances of realplayer installed pre/post install of the cab? Also which cab did you use, full or cv only?

This happens when you have the old CV Realplayer CAB (I put a version out with UA fixes and others have put Realplayer CAB out as well) and the new one from this thread at the same time. Unfortunately you can NOT remove the old realplayer fully since there are system files so the uninstall fails. If you HR and ONLY install the CV CAB from this thread you'll be HAPPY!

Thanks wpbear & Custel.
Being a newbie, 1 dumb question... I assume that a hard reset will wipe everything out including the PTT button fix, my contacts and voice tags. What is the process for backing this stuff up if possible. Also, the hard reset Cing. had me do once was to hold the 2 dash buttons down and power the device up. Is this the correct way?
Thanks for your patience...

First and foremost, thank you so much Custel. My question that I have is similiar to that posted on the second page. When the proxy is restored, it denies any Cingular/medianet applications. Is this proxy some form of enhancer? What necessarily does it do. From what I can see it does not benefit me to run the proxy enabled... Sorry for the NEWB questions...

I deleted a file by error in MobiTv and it wouldn't load. So I tried installing these cab files. I installed to my device and not SD. After installing, nothing would work. No IE, no MobiTv, nothing which lead to a hard reset. After doing that, when I try to open MobiTv, a little dialog box appears with nothing in it. I have to click to get out of it. So, now it's useless. Is there a way to only reinstall MobiTv? Or somewhere to get the missing files for it? I don't want to do a third hard reset.
thanks

for all having problems with start menu not coming up after install, try this.
download the trial of sktools.
use the uninstall option to uninstall the custel cingular app
soft reset
the custel cingular app will still be there, however all of your system apps will now work.
good luck.
p.s. please read my post 2 spots up and help out if possible.

I installed that cab and had the same issues. I only wanted mobitv anyway. After hardresetiing my 6700 to get rid of the install I extracted the entire 6 meg cab to a folder on my PC. I identified all the mobitv files and renamed them accordingly. I also had to change all the file extensions to the correct ones because extracting from a cab file gives you a bunch of unidentified files. Then I took just those files (10) total and put them in a folder on my sd card. I then had to use resco explorer and change my view options to allow me to see "system files". If you dont do this you will not be able to see these files on your device. I then created a shortcut for my new mobitv.exe and placed it in my start menu. launched it and bingo! It works. I'll just delete the VARS.chunk file everyday to reset the trial. No need for the mortscipt. If anyone wants to try this let me know and I'll tell you which files to use and what to rename them to once you extract the cab.

I got a question reguarding rtsp streaming media and the Custel Cingular Video cab.
Before the cab installtion on a WM6 rom (vp3G LVSW variant) it appears you can click a link in PIE for m.youtube.com and it opens the streamingmedia.exe player.
After the cab installtion you just get a popup error box in PIE about not being able to open a rtsp link. I can still manually type the link into StreamingMedia.exe.
Any ideas?

I am running a ATT 8525 w/stock rom ver 2.15.502.3. I finally settle all my issues and have isp.cingular up and running! Like You when start to launch MobiTv it wants to switch to My ISP!! Talked to MobiTV supervisor and they have no idea what is going on!!
So I decided to tackle it myself. Since MobiTv from Cingular requires going through wap.cungular access server, but no proxies needed. I change My ISP to access wap.cingular(like it does by default on hard reset). Then I made a new connection Real ISP, to access isp.cingular.
Everything is Working Sweet!!!

3G isn't in my area yet and I can't get MobiTV or XM Radio to work over my Edge connection. It just says the channel is down.

ok, I got it working.
It seems that when I turn my wifi on, then back off, Windows Media Player doesn't want to stream ANYTHING, and since MobiTV and XM use the media player to stream, it wasn't streaming.
Once I soft-reset, it's all working fine over Edge. Very nice!
I also made a CAB with ONLY MobiTV and XM Radio in it:

I had youtube working until I installed Custel Cingular Video. Does anyone know how to get youtube back?
I just opened up regedit and did a search for RealPlayer.exe %1 and replaced all instances with StreamingPlayer.exe %1
That got my youtube working again.

You'll need a smartphone version. This one is for PPC.

I just tried the smartphone version from Handango and it locks up at the same spot when the green bar is almost done.

I got this working on Black 2.5 - you need to open Realplayer (use file explorer and open realplayer.exe in the \windows directory). In options, change connection settings from the Internet to MEdiaNet and it will work.
fixed my cv issue..which happened all of a sudden...now i gotta get mobitv working on medianet and not just wifi...
Edit...mobitv working once again after restorying the prox settings :)

It's because your connection settings are configured differnetly then they are from cingular..... Has nothing to do with the cabs.
Cingular Video Only (http://www.mediafire.com/?0dhlgoymtwz)
Does anyone have the correct settings for MediaNet using the Kaiser ROM? Tried many solutions through seaching and no solution has worked. I am getting the same thing stated above. Internet works perfect with Disabled Proxy but when I run the Restore Proxy I can not load any pages at all and can never access the MediaNet home page.
