Bluetooth on the IIs is class 2?

This is the spec for it.. but class 2 is supposed to have a 5-10 metre range.

No it doesn't.

I have tried 7 different BT headsets so far & all have static unless under 1 metre.

Maximum range I have is 3-4 metres, but static is present.

Yeah, audio gateway wise that's what I thought.

What about as part of a network.. does the use make a difference?

I have a motorola 100 metre (range) usb dongle, I can't get more than 5 metres reliably.
