Just installed TomTom 6 for PPC, and it worked fine on my Vox. You can do everything with the four way button, and the softkeys. I did not need to use any fake cursor or anything. I have a standard tomtom gps though, so the settings for gps were pre-configured.

Yep using 6.030 (8320)
The tricky part was to setup TomTom, now it's running smoothly.
1st) Install - install was not working so the option was to copy correct files from PocekPC version. After that no problems to run TomTom.
2nd) Set up GPS or multiple maps, generally when you have to choose from list there is no option to use D-Pad. For that purpouse I've used fakecursor with xbar3. When "in TomTom" I've called xbar3 and from there fakecursor to setup GPS and correct map. Of course you need to setup xbar3 to have FakeCursor link in there. For GPS you need to assign COM port in Bluetooth settings.
Pain in the a** was that I was not able to switch fakecursor off becouse none of the buttons (except D-pad) were responding. So to switch it off I've had to remove battery. However this is only one time job since after setting things up you can use your keyboards only.
3rd) Small glitch while using TomTom when you need to "Cliclk" you need to use left soft key - action key on D-pad is acting like "double-click".
Uff... took some time to do it.
Now

Hi, I could make TOMTOM 6 work, but I just can't use it because the keyboards don't work properly. Neither the phone keypad nor the QWERTZ keypad (it's a German vox).
I can't select in the lists ans I can't correct input-mistakes because I don't have a backspace-button.
Is there any way making TOMTOM work properly?
And another thing: how can I create a shortcut in the start menu? And how can I create shortcuts on the home-screen?
Thanks,
Cheesy

Thanks for the info! I've tried to install by copying the files from a PPC memory card to the Vox memory card and then execute the cab for tomtom 6.03. The installation then dies on me...
When you say "copy correct files from PocekPC version" do you mean only the files from the \program files and the \My Documents folder? Or are there more files in the windows folder?
//Jerry
Ooops, I tired to copy the stuff in \Program files\Navigator and \My Documents\TomTom\ ... And it worked!
Thanks a lot you all!

Exactly which version of TomTom 6 are you using, and you have the HTC S710/E650, with all the up/down keys working in the address selection?

Does the 4 way button work when selecting an address (up / down) and does the 4 way button work when browsing the map (up / down) , it only works left and right for me. Which version of tomtom are you using and are you using the E650/HTC S710?

hmmmm - pretty crap solution though.
At the end of the day ttn6 is PPC software not smartphone and it seems tomtom have no plans to release a smartphone version!
The other thing that pisses me off about tomtom at the moment is, if I do decide to upgrade (upgrade - thats a laugh - buy the product again) then I also have to "upgrade" (buy) all of my USA maps again too.
It seems to me that they are focussed on their all in one units and really couldn't give two hoots about us mobile/ppc users who have been with them for a long time.
At £75 for the software (all of Europe) I am going to give Route 66 mobile 7 a go. Hopefully it will be bye bye tomtom
U don't need the up/down key.

I've installed TTN6 with a PPC emulator and copying the files to microSD card and I think it's working great on my S710 except one thing:
The display switches completely off after 30sec like when the phone is in standby mode on the homescreen.
I'd like that TTN6 doesn't switch the display off when it's running.
Don't you experience this issue? And has someone a solution?

I've also downgraded from 6.030 to 6.000 and faced the voice issue.
I've copied the voices to \storage card\voices and removed the file collected.ini from \storage card\voices and \storage card\Program Files\Navigator\Voices. Removing this file lets TT re-scan for voices.

@ Kusnier (or anyone who can help!),
Could you please help me with this install... I have the file "ttn.ppc.6.030.8320.cab", but the installation freezes...
Then I unpacked the cabfile, and copied the map to my storage card. I tried to run both "ttn" and "ttn2003" files within the "2577"-directory, but both installs won't work... can you tell me what to do??
Thanks!

But how to use it with S710 keys ? kow to find address if it is not listed, up / down not working. keyboard not working, even no backspace! how to point a destination point on map without touchscreen? it is imposible to use it in everyday needs. Use a program called "fake cursor", search for it in the forum.

i am using fake cursor, but it is unuseable compared with touch screen PDA
is it possible to enable / disable fake cursor while tomtom is running ?
some key combination to switch it on / off or etc...

Yes, but disabling fakecursor returns you to homescreen. No problem for me because it only occurs after entering a route. And starting fakecursor can be easily done via Xbar3. I'm quite happy with TT and FC although it could be better of course.

Hi,
Have installed TomTom via cab file on my mem card and it seemed to go through ok. When I run TomTom from the Vox it goes through the usual setup options (language choice) and then when I confirm the Language it says "Your device is incompatible with TomTom navigator"
Has anyone else had this and if so what was the fix? I am trying to install TTN6.0
Thanks

I have been using TomTom 6 on my Vox with Fake cursor and XBAR3. I have to say that it has been fairly painless and flawless.
The secret of using Fake cursor is not to assign it to a hardware button on XBAR but a shortcut. This way you can activate XBAR from TomTom by holding down the middle button on the Vox and select the fake cursor shortcut. This will then remain active until you exit TOMTOM and return to the home screen.
I also dont have any problems with the backlight...all in all - pretty good!

Hi Ive managed to get tomtom version 6.020 (7980) to work on my E650. The problem that I am having is when trying to use postcode lookup the keys dont work. I have got fakecursor working but am unable to call it in tomtom. I have paid for xbar3 but am getting no responce about downloading it.
How long did it take for the guy to respond to you?
Is there another app out there that will enable me to call fakecursor when in tomtom?
Cheers

hey guy's I knon your all running tomtom 6. whatever!! I have been unable to complete the install so i gave up months ago I have been running tomtom 5 which was working great until a few weeks ago when it lost GPS signal, now the only way to get it to work is by hard reset, then reinstall the application. even with this I then can only use the software once as in use the satnav but once I shut down tomtom I then have to hard reset the device and reinstall. nothing has changed on my phone. i've not installed anything new. and idea's?

Many of you write the HTC S710 is working with S710, but also with VOX and E650. I guess S710=VOX=E650?
Further you mention TomTom 6. Is that the same as TomTom Navigator 6? Guess so.
Now my question/story:
Bought HTC S710
Bought TomTom Navigator 6 on SD Card with TomTom GPS.
1st problem. SD Card did not fit in S710, So I bought a expensive Micro Card. Used Windows XP Explorer to copy all files from mini SD to Micro SD.
According to manual, I have to insert the Card in my S710. Then go to step 4: switch on TomTom GPS
Step5: Start TomTom Navigator by touching the TomTom button in the menu of my S710.
Problem1: I can't touch any button :-)
Problem2: I don't see a TomTom button anywhere on my S710
So I inserted the original mini SD card in my PC and installed TomTom Home. Connected S710 with copied micro card, TomTom Home shows that I have Maps, POI, voices, zipcodes and some sat images.
Next try:
On the S710 I start explorer, my device, storage card. I see Start with TomTom icon. I select it and press the centered navigation button on the S710. Nothing happens.
So, all of you who say TTN6 works with S710: what did you do to make it work?
and please don't refer to another forum where it should be listed, please.
Many many thanks in advance.

Hello guys, following posts above managed to install TomTom 6 on E650 after application unlock and fake cursor installed. The problem now seems to be, that there is no proper connection between the phone and the GPS receiver (GlobalSat BT 338). E650 finds the receiver and pairs it, but only outgoing bluetooth com port is available (com 6 or com7). Can not set incoming bluetooth com port and TomTom says NO GPS DEVICE. Also from TomTom settings, gps receiver must use bluetooth com port 9.
Any help is appreciated
thank you

I don't understand why everybody is trying to install TomTom 6 with all kinds of tweaks to get it working. Together with all the trouble to get GPS paired.
I installed tomtom 5.2 within 5 min and plotted my first route with another 5 min. Pairing with my GPS was no problem at all.
And everything works with the numeric keys....

Hi all.
Eventually managed to get TTN 5.2 working on my wife's V1415 perfectly (agree with other comments in this thread, why bother with TTN 6 when 5.2 works great ?). Thanks to this forum for some useful info!!
The problem is the program can only be activated by navigating to the TomTom folder on storage card, then running the TomTom.exe link. There is no TomTom plug-in available to run program from home screen.
I don't want to reinstall for a variety of reasons, so 2 questions:
1 - Can I install just the homescreen plug-in via a CAB (I don't have original CABs any more!)?
2 - failing that, how can I add a shortcut to the program into say, Facade, to enable running from homescreen? Note that TomTom does NOT appear as a listed program under Start>Programs, but runs fine when activated via the link in File Explorer as described above.
I've had pocket PCs for many years but this is my first smartphone so apologies if it turns out to be a dumb question :) .Thanks for any help...
