Setup
- rename 'grab_it_xx.exe' to 'autorun.exe'
- create folder '2577' on your (empty) SD/MMC/Mini-SD card
- copy 'autorun.exe' to this folder

That's it for the "setup" :o)

Usage
Now every time, when you insert this card into PPC it will grab the ROM image and save it into root of the card as 'dump.bin'.
It will show you a tiny red progress bar at the very bottom of the screen.
Once done, it will beep the default sound.
Message boxes are only shown in case of error.

IMPORTANT NOTE (thanx MDAIIIuser)
YOU MUST NOT put it back into another device!!!
YOU MUST LOCK THE SD CARD FIRST!!!!!
or read the SD with card reader on your desktop PC.
Otherwise, you will rewrite the dump with your own ROM!!!!
This ROM dump file can be then further processed and converted to flashable formats.

I just ripped the image from my 6955 and will upload it later tonight. Just wondering if it is possible to make a WM6 rom after disecting this and applying the useful bits to one of the WM6 updates for one of the HTC devices. Anyone have any information on this?

I tried but when I remove the memory card (after waiting about an hour) I get an error saying "Cannot create file". The file is a 128 MB file before I remove the card, but when I remove it...it becomes a 52 KB file which is corrupted.

Did You read card in the card reader? This method starts work any time when You put SD into iPaq.

i tried grab_it_128_150.exe on a mini -sd but i got a non good dump.bin,
tried also grab_it_128_minisd_468.exe but that doesn't work at all,

a simple d2s command results in a screen thats stuck in cal cheksum,

any advise????

The obstacle is that HP so far has not released any rom update for the HW69xx, thus we do not have a valid rom to test. I suppose it can be done by the same method to flash a HW65xx, but it is quite risky to flash a dumped bin file, plus if anying goes wrong, we know little to do. I used to have a Tytn and the Tytn upgrading group has contributed so much that almost makes rom upgrading a piece of cake. So maybe it is because the 6900 user base is too small thus we do not have some talent programmer like POF,etc. , who may have opted for htc native devices.
Suggestion: either wait for HP to release some rom update for us to do some experience(sooner or later), OR SET UP A FUND TO BUY A 6900 FOR SOME SMART PROGRAMMER and setup a REWARD if one get it done. I think 6900 hardware wise is a really nice machine, but HP sucks on the software side. Too much room to be improved. Let alone WM6, where is AKU3???

Hi, I tried some dumps available here, and none can be used.

I had same problem with my beetles!

I used d2s in bootloader mode to dump my ROM (beginning on 80000000 (value obtained using pmemmap -> check to see if the ROM is located at the same place) and with a 64Mb size (4000000)):
USB> d2s 80000000 4000000
(For a 128Mb ROM, use 8000000 instead of 4000000)
Note: the first SDCard wasn't successfully written, a second one did the job!

then used ntrw to create a file from raw SDCard:
ntrw read dumpFromSDCard.raw X:
(where X: is the drive letter of your SDCard on your computer)

After some cut/paste (due to 1Gb SD Card:() , I had a file beginning with my device name and containing the content of my ROM, and approx. 70Mb

I used dumprom to extract the content of the rom (create a 'files' directory), then:
dumprom dumpFromSDCard.raw -d files >logDump6915.txt

All the files contained in the raw file will be copied in the files directory

I would be very interested in the raw file and the log file.

Using this file, it should be easier to identify how to decrypt/encrypt ipaq 69x and 65x formats (which are not necessarily the same, but maybe!)

As sad as it is to you and to me there isnt a way yet to make it flashable.
To use the raw format rom you need pdocread and pdocwrite utils from itsutil package developed by itsme. Anyways to pdocwrite the dumped rom You must unlock CID first! Other ways there is a big possibility that you'd brick your phone (As in you may have an expensive silver brick in your hands). The only person who might have a way to unlock the hw6915 CID is wikidorg. I already PM him but You also can try doing that.

If I get the needed info on how to unlock cid for hw6915 I'll definitely post the method of dumping/writing the rom to hw6915 :)
