 Gents, After just recently suffering the dreaded SD card corruption "fault" (now finally fixed - I hope - with the new .cab from HTC)and having to reformat and reinstall all my programs data etc to my Orbit, I have a new issue with my microSD card.......
When the 2GB Sandisk microSDcard is queried for properties with Pocket Mechanic and Resco Explorer 2007 it notes that it is 78% full, with with 1.49GB on the card. HOWEVER, there is only 0.508GB (for sure) on the card, and this is noted when viewed using properties from Pocket Explorer!
The card is formated as FAT16 with 512 bytes/sector.....
Any advise as to reconcille whats going on? Will I have to reformat to "release" the space? ....I have not tried to copy and fill the remaining space on the card to see if the difference is real or just made-up by Pocket Mechanic/Resco Explorer...I'm worried about corrupting the card and losing all my data (again, ) All advice gratefully received!!

My card (2 gb sandisk) is reading the same 1500 in use 500 free.....

Its as if the Orbit is reading it the wrong way round.....

Saying that its been stable enough, Ive added more progs and mp3s also installed things.

Touch wood it seems ok.......:)

I would also appreciate someone letting us know what the problem could be though.......

You could backup the card and then try reformatting it with various different cluster sizes until you hit the optimum remaining space. I can't even remember what cluster size I used when I did mine , but it did take me a couple of goes.
Anyone know what the optimum is?

Well...I did exactly that uniqueboy! Solved the issue with a card format!
i) Took card out of device and plugged into USB reader
ii) Copied files (everything!) to a safe area
iii) Formated as FAT32 using default/optimum using standard HD formatter
iv) Coppied accross files exactly as were previously there
V Presto, all worked OK ;)
.....and the remain 1GB plus was freed up! Suspect the issue was with the funny format (Fat16) and cluster size I used to try and mitigate against SD card crash.

All is well that ends well!!
