Hello,

I have upgraded my Imate PDA2k ROM Helmi_BA_WM2k5_AKU3.5_v1.4.CF2 R2 by baniaczek for about a month now. It has been working perfectly fine with no much issues on Wifi and other stuff. But since last one week i see my battery runs out within 3 hours and each time i had to re-charge the same. Even though the usage is really minimal. ( May be 2 or three calls and no real PDA usage). Also i feel the device is heated up most of the time. Are there any diagnostic tools for battery ?. .. Is this caused by any program running continously.

Any suggestions to find out the battery problem.

It is probably a running program or some activated interface (GPRS, IrDA, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi). Make sure they are all deactivated.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried disabling BT/WiFi / GPS ( even deleted GPS Connections ). Still the battery runs only for 3 to 4 hours. How can i figure out which of the applications might be causing the problem ??..... ( As i stated in my previous post things were fine two weeks back ). I can not figure out!... Can this be a hardware problem ?. Should i try flashing the ROM again ?.

Any suggestions will be of great help.

Thanks.

No. I think its a hardware problem. I flashed the ROM again and still the battery was draining really fast. Anyways i will change the battery now and check.

Perhaps the battery is getting life expired. THe most common indication of expiring battery is that it stats taking longer to charge and gets drained faster...Try replacing the battery..

Your right but it shouldn't happen in so great leap. You said that you flashed another ROM. Try doing master reset and leave the device in factory-fresh state - do not restore anything from backup imediately. If it is fine then, it is a software problem. If it is not, try turning on the flight mode for determining if it is GSM related. I'm afraid that a new battery won't solve anything.

i'm guessing that your IR is turned on since you did not state it on your post earlier!

IR eats your battery like pacman does.

It would still be interesting to have battery diagnostics software. Does anyone know of such a package?

might be useful for testing.. could potentially try different screen brightness and speeds to get a comparison. I will say that I used to only get 1 day from my old OEM battery.. got one of the e-bay special 2500mAh and now it easily gets 3 days with the same usage pattern as before..

After a long time again a re-post on this. Well my problems seems to be not getting over. I flashed the PDA2k to factory state and still the battery was draining. Then next obvious thing was to replace the battery. Now i have a brand new battery and reflashed again to factory state and my fears are coming true... still the battery drains in 3 hours... what next guys ?.

have you checked ur infra red setting? make sure its OFF! i think, it is turned on as default after flashing! or maybe your charger is defective! try someones charger!

IR disabling has not helped in the past. But i tried again but no much use. The equipment is heated up during normal usage time. Is there any thing more i can try before my BA becomes a history. ( BTW. the repair center refused take anything other than the screen changes and battery replacements. !!.. )

Any one having any idea how to reset the bios ?. I think my battery problems are related to trying out the Trial Version of Pocket Hack Master to overclock the PDA. I have uninstalled it long time back and may even have performed three to four times ROM updates but may not have reset the software's overclocking settings back .. ?!!...

BTW. The service center argued out that the any ROM updates other than official Imate ROM will void the warrantee and twice they returned without repair and attributed the the problem of heating to ROM updates... ( without even checking!! ...

I faced the same problem when attempted to upgrade my Harrier. I agree, that there must be an error somewhere in the device BIOS that cannot be that easily reflashed. Unfortunately, I could not find any solution and had to replace the useless phone that drained the battery within 4-5 hrs.

Yes the over clocking eatsup the battery as well as causes heating up the device. So better dactivate the over clocking..
