this will only work ONE time within a 6 month period as they only allow you to change it once within 6 months. There customer services is utter crap. Just so you know as now you have changed yours you wont be able to change it again for another 6 months no matter what.

I just ordered TomTom 6 for my softbank, and this subject concerns me. Like a lot of you here, I like to flash the ROM on my phone when a new one comes out. What should I do to keep from being locked out of software that I paid for to use in case my Device ID changes after I flash to another ROM? Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

There are for the maps but not for the "tomtom plus " services as it connects to there web servers for traffic and speed scamera updates.

ANY help out there on this?
It seems like there is a choice: Download Tomtom traffic / speed camera and NEVER flash your device again, OR forget about Tomtom traffic / speed camera and FLASH happily forever.
I'm still not decided! I woulda thought there was a way by now to keep your device code after flashing a new ROM but the silence out there seems to suggest that there isn't!

Damnnnnnnnnnnn it!!!!
My device code just changed over night for no reason at all! Now Tomtom thinks I have a new phone and doesn't let me use the speed camera and John Cleese voice I paid for twice!!!
It'd be cheaper just to get a speeding ticket!!!!

Just run the installation program from the pc and it will install automatically
the maps need to be in the storage card as they are, for example if you have a uk & ireland map that must be in \storage card\uk and ireland map( or whatever the map is called ) folder.
The software for tomtom should install onto the device. Then simply run it and then activate your maps

You can also "cut" the Navigator folder out of "My programs" directory on the hermes and paste on SD card. You just have to send a shortcut to your "Start Menu" folder in the windows directory. Did this with Resco explorer 2007, Works flawlessly. A little bit extra time to start up but not enough to worry about.
Cheers...:D

Can someone explain how it is that I don't need any activation code for the maps on my Tomtom?
My Tomtom came on a memory card when I bought the phone on ebay. Once installed on the phone all the maps work fine (no activation needed), even if I flash the ROM and thus change the device code.
When the device code changes, the only thing that goes is Tomtom plus services, like downloaded stuff and Traffic.
Explanation anyone?
