Same here, I suggest you post it in the other thread.
You shouldn'T have opened this one in the first place.

It seems that this problem (Cannot hear anything but can be heard) is specific to the Trinity. The other forum is about how to configure a SIP account for use with inbuilt VoIP in WM6. On that forum - there are Trinity users talking about their specific VoIP problem as cited above.

As this issue is not one concerning the SIP account configuration, I feel that it deserves it's own thread. How about renaming this thread to VoIP problems with Trinity WM6 delivery 1979 - then we can all get together to share problems about VoIP with the Trinity WM6 ROMS. Perhaps mUn and Lvsw can enlighten us and eventually include fixes in their upcoming ROMS.

I have yet to have a definitive answer from anyone about successfully setting up VoIP and getting it working consistently on the Trinity. If most users can indeed do this - the problem is isolated to a few dunces like me. however - as nobody has confirmed a working VoIP in WM6 for Trinity - I think a Trinity specific problem that merits a thread.

I agree, we've been bouncing this problem around for a couple of weeks now.

There's one-way audio on the Trinity with WM6 internet calling (SIP).
Third-party SIP phones have 2-way audio, but it's always on the speakerphone.

i disagree with that. i've tried several 3rd party sip clients. all have the same behaviour as the wm6 build-in client.

albertazzi65 - did you try the fix that lvsw suggested in his post:

VoIP FIX!!!!

Remove the values:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\RTC\AdapterTypes]
"1"=dword:00020001
"2"=dword:00020002

I would be curious to see if after flashing the 2.0.0.7 version of the ROM and applying this fix it works?

My next tests to get VoIP working were going to be : 1. Flash 2.0.0.7 2. Apply the above fix 3. Replace rtcdll.dll with this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39424&d=1179658323 at each step I would check the functionality of VoIP to see if at any stage it works! If you could try (as you've already flashed to 2.0.0.7) - that would help a lot.

The problem is that DLL's used in Trinity roms are from different devices, and as I was explained, drivers for Trinity's audio are different. Haven't tried to replace dll, but no luck with registry settings...

OK. Flashed 2.0.0.7 ROM. Replaced DLL. Configured SIP. Tried a call. I could hear the person I was calling. :) the sound was very faint and coming from the main speaker. There was also a half second delay.
(I could be heard clearly).
I then tried the registry fix. Now there is just a slight interference noise coming from the main speaker - like a bad phone line - but no voice from the other end. Put the registry keys back - still the same.:(
Conslusion - I once made a successful two way call through my trinity's phone earpiece. Only once though. This time I got one successful 2 way call - with crappy sound through the main speaker.
This is not progress, but it's clear that the Trinity is capable of it.

It should work on the trinity because if you use a software like I have done with SJPhone, it works. You can hear your correspondant and he can hear you. The only thing is taht it works on the speaker, so you can use a earphone bluetooth or not and then it works fine.

I have tried and I have the same issue as everyone with WM6 IP phone and no problem on SJPHONE with WM6.

Yes - but the whole point is that it is integrated in the ROM and integrates with the phone a lot better. (As soon as I am at home on WiFi - my calls are VoIP routed). Thanks anyway!

did a bit of research in the forum. Here's my solution.
Trinity with 2.0.0.7 ROM, SIP conf tool v2.0.1.
Downloaded http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39424&d=1179658323
Switched off VOIP and Wi-Fi, replaced the above file in \Windows folder, softreset and here we are, loud and clear sound from the external speaker using VOIP. Hope this helps anyone

Hi guys, I don't know how alive this thread is...but in case anyone's interested... (esp if you're from Australia)... here's my steps:

1: Run "WM6 VOIP_Trinity.cab"
This is the same as This (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308984) one, except with the updated rtcdll.dll (This version was by mousio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308984&page=7), there's also an alternative of the build by palmop (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308984&page=4).. personally I haven't noticed the difference between the two builds but I kept mousio's build since he originally claimed earphone worked with it - but it still doesnt)

2a: Delete the VALUES (not Keys) in HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\DialingVoIP\Sound and HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCallFeedback\D efaultSound - This fixes the one-way audio problem on the Trinity in my experience. If you don't kill these values you need to Hold the call then Unhold the call and wait like 5 to 10 seconds before you can start hearing the other end. Usually by this time they're fed up talking to silence and have hung up. (I got this fix off chanvi93)

2b (alternative fix): If you're not familiar with how to use a Registry Editor on WM5/6, then ignore step 2a above and run HTC_Certs.cab, SdkCerts.cab then HTC_WaveDev.cab (all 3 cabs are in BassFix.zip as attached) This is supposed to resolve the one-way audio issue and enhance the audio quality. (credits to chanvi93 ) Personally I have not noticed a difference in audio quality yet but I haven't started playing music =P, my main concern was whether this fix will still work with the GSM Codec in the next step, and it does :)

3: Install GsmCodec.CAB <- Credit to dridders and Sleuth255 on working this one out. It includes the GSM 610 codec (Almost necessary if you want VoIP over 3G/GPRS/HSDPA in Australia with the crappy signals)...encoding is at 64kbps and sound quality is pretty good too.

4: (Optional) replace the \Windows\ipdialplan.xml with the attached copy. This is my own updated version of French's Dial Plan...(Credits to chanvi93, thanks for reminding me where I got the file) But I've actually updated this file to allow local number dialing, such as (02) 9xxx-xxxx or mobiles (0414) xxx-xxx.. This is useful because VoIP providers like PennyTel for Aussies actually accepts national number formats without the 61 country code! Schweet! I don't have to update my whole phonebook to include country codes now, and I can just dial back missed/received calls without changing the number...This also helps if you need to dial 13 or 1800 numbers. But dialing land lines without area code doesn't work (PennyTel will give you a nice recorded message to remind u of your noobism and try again :p)

5: Run the SIP Config tool and setup your SIP account and set Internet Calling to "Whenever Available" under Settings->Phone->Internet Calling. If you don't have one, and if you live in Aus.. take a look at PennyTel, it was the cheapest provider in Australia at the time of this posting. And I went with an Aussie provider instead of something like VoipCheap (which is even CHEAPER! it's FREE! but it's UK based) because the ping latency on overseas providers are just too high (that's the 0.5 to 2 second voice delay people have been on about, because of the tiny data packets being sent across the globe, then back via their phone gateway to call a number that's a few km's from you - remember guys, a trip to a comms satellite and back to earth will take up to 300ms even at the speed of light! And thats on a NON-congested network)

Get Resco Explorer with Registry plug-in..otherwise google for a WM5/6 Registry editor.. then you edit the registry like you would on a computer..if you've never worked with registries before then.. uhh ...wait till someone cooks up a CAB to do this for you? (my WinCE Cab manager died so, sorry I cant help you there).

I know, there are so many quality and cheap (or free) voip providers around the world.. only prob is the ping latency (delay over the internet coz of the distance).. if I use a UK provider like VoipCheap, everything I say takes 1 to 2 seconds before the other side hears it.. and when they reply, takes just as long for me to hear their reply.. it's very unnatural having a convo like that.. so I've gone with a local provider  and PennyTel is the best one in Australia so far according to Whirlpool (aussie forum on stuff like ISP/Voip etc)

Thanks chanvi93 ... I've updated my post above.... we should probably make a Wiki thread to centralise all these info instead of having it scattered around xda-developers..

can someone please correct me if I'm wrong but these issues are still outstanding before we can make VOIP completely replace GSM calls on Trinity's?

* Sound is still coming out from the loudspeaker/back/external speaker whatever you want to call it, instead of coming out of the earpiece/earphone/internal/front speaker.

* Phone calls are cutting off when the phone goes into sleep mode (as defined in Power Options->Advanced) .. we need some way of stopping this =( .. my current workaround is to either keep poking the screen during a call, or remember to change power settings before making a long call...

* A shortcut to FORCE the phone to "search" for VOIP, and initiates a GPRS/HSDPA data session if there is no internet connectivity. My work around is to click "refresh" on Weather in HTC Home which will initiate the data session, but if the data connection connects and disconnects, I can't force Internet Calling to search for the VOIP provider again unless I turn Internet Calling to Never, then go back in again and select "Whenever Available".. that appears to cycle the internet calling service in WM6. There has to be a better way to do this

Oh and to top it off, the GSM610 codec still works even under a slow GPRS connection, but the upstream is useless :( so people can't hear you.. even though you can hear them...

Hi lonertic,
I try to give you my experience but my english is so bad ,ok .
2° To shut down screen and let wifi run by a soft named : "psShutXP" you can find it by research in this site ou here : http://ppcsoft.narod.ru/english/
, you have a "Stand by" function to do it .
3° I initiate HSDPA in using "Battery Status" soft, it have Phone(all connections), wifi and BT on icon stray here : http://www.chi-tai.info/cs_BatteryStatus_XDA_Neo_WM5_iM_cs.htm
You take vers 1.05 Beta and language package .
3° Unfortunely my Voip work by the loudspeaker also , with G711 codec sound is very clear on my Pda but the other party have a little echo pb and i don't find solution .
4° Voip by earpiece is an other history , i obtain it 2 times in this 3 months accidentally !!! Some time when i want to listen music by BT i go to HKLM_Software_OEM_VoiceCommand and change line : LaunchAPEnable by 0 . Then i push my BT button and normally loudspeaker sound will go to BT but in 2 times all sound are going in earpiece and i don't know why ??? In each time i can use voip and Skype by earpiece3 or 4 hours then the first i want backup all but the softreset kill this function , the second i use "Voice Speed Dial" to call a friend and it kill also this function , i think this is a serious way to find an issu but i am not computer ingienerie , after research i know that the loudspeaker can't send voice directly to BT , it recome to earpiece then send to BT. This is my experience so if you know an expert's computer we can continue the research .
lonertic the 1° is by MP

chanvi93:

(2) and (3) above: I'll check out those apps soon =).. but my phone has too many apps at the moment, I'll need to clear some out before I can test this.

(4): It looks like you discovered a bug in WaveDev.dll which redirects sound from loudspeaker to BT.. and when the BT didn't connect, it defaulted to earpiece..if that redirection stayed, likewise voip would sound from earpiece...that's consistent with what I read on MSDN too, that the sound simply gets dumped to the audio layer in WM5/6 and its up to the audio layer to decide which speaker to output to. will read more about it when I have time and hopefully find a fix soon. btw, the echo can't be fixed until we fix earpiece problem. the echo is caused by loudspeaker being too loud, the sound is looping back via the microphone.. if you use a wired (or BT) handsfree, there is no echo problem.

(1) I double checked, I got the file off mousio (updated above)..not sure if he compiled it himself or sourced it elsewhere though.

i thought this was done automatically by the cab install..because mine came default with it enabled..unless that registry key was already cooked into the ROM..

hi,
I applied all the patches that you posted, except use my ipdialplan to Italy, otherwise I will not work outgoing calls,
But I have trouble hearing and hear me.

In wifi outgoing tells me "network service is not available, try again later" entering the phone rings but no sound is heard in two ways.
Use Eutelia
Who knows one day if we succeed before I change the Trinity?

mia lingua ;)
