Any alternative unlocking method for white X01HT [Archive]

Hi,

While all of us are patiently waiting for pof to release his updated simunlock tool for the new batches of X01HT. Has anyone of us tried alternative methods?

Below are my findings:

1. http://imei-check.co.uk/m3100unlock.php Does not support white X01HT
2. http://www.jictechnology.co.uk/products/jic_nextgen_server.shtml Not clearly indicated whether it is supported or not.
3. http://www.mobile2mobile.net/unlock/RemoteunlockingHTCPocketPC.htm ???

I have made an interesting observation. There are many ebay sellers selling unlocked white X01HT. So are they so lucky that they could get unpowered white X01HT, unlock it with POF's tool or they have another way to unlock it?

Note: Softbank X01HT SPL1.09 and radio 1.14.00.10 are not supported for unlocking.

I have purchased a credit to test with the above provider. In so far. they are the only one that says can unlock any version.

I would assume their tech support is knowledgeable about their product as they have told me multiple times it will work.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts, the unlock client will hang at "negotiating with server....." the tech helped to diagnose and claimed that they are too many hops and long latency between my isp and theirs. As such, it will never work.

I still believe is their ability to unlock new rom after April 2007. Is there anyone in the UK whom would like to try it out? I don't think there should be any more hop/latency excuse for UK customers.

If your phone is asking for a code, do not try to enter code unless you KNOW its the code. Too many attempts and the phone may not be unlockable by code and you will have to wait for another software unlocker like pof's v3a (v4a?).

It's done! Kevin's code worked flawlessly...

I know it's not free, but I waited 3 months for it. It's worth every cent and at least now I can use my phone like a phone :p

Well there are limitations like no radio upgrades, radio boot loader cannot be changed ...but other than that, no issue with phone function.

I did ran into some problem initially as I could not "trigger" the ask for unlock code screen. I tried doing the AT@simlock command with no avail partly due to bootloader version. Eventually I gave up and tried flashing it to the Docomo rom. Upon power up, the unlock screen came out, punched in the magic number and the phone came to life...

A word about Kevin, he is a 5 Stars seller, for a moment, I thought he came from a city that never sleeps... Great seller!!

Just to let everyone know. I only have a couple of codes left and it will be first come first serve until they are gone.

I don't know if I will be getting more codes right now, but I might in a few weeks (I am kind of broke right now).

When I run out of codes, I will post here and tell where you can get the codes after mine run out.

Ok guys, do this (make sure you have Microsoft dotNET Framework 2.0 or above before proceeding):

1. Make sure battery is charged.
2. Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=35136&d=1173326890
3. Install that file (Olipro SPL1.10.Olipro)
4. Go into bootloader mode, connect with MTTY.exe (link is in wiki, gotta look hard).
5. Connect with MTTY using default settings and USB. Hit ENTER 2 times, you will get this prompt: USB>
6. type:
rtask b (wait until it says AT Interpreter Ready)
ate1 (after typing this and pressing enter, you will get a 0)
atv1 (verbose mode)
AT@SIMLOCK?40 (should return SIMLOCK 01)
AT@SIMLOCK=0,1,XXXXXXXX (where X is your code... if you used POF's free unlocker.v3a; your code is 22051978)
AT@SIMLOCK?40 (should return SIMLOCK 00)

Your phone is now unlocked.

Exit MTTY and disconnect the phone.

Then go and get HARDSPLv7 and install it (follow the directions). This will give you IPL 1.04 and SPL 2.10.Olipro.

Thanks goes out to Lemming77 who taught me this and credit for the software must go to Olipro.

If you have later version of Softbank ROM... you will not be able to use this ROM with any sim card even if your phone is unlocked. The problem is not the unlock but because Softbank actually configured their rom to not allow ANY other sim than softbank's.

There are lots of BETTER cooked WM6 roms than Softbank's crappy wm5 rom. You can even get roms with Softbank settings already installed.

I found out that some versions of X01HT, even though unlocked, will give a message about the SIM card is invalid or not inserted correctly. I don't know how to remove it so I flashed my phone to the WWE WM6 that was leaked from HTC a few weeks ago. Works perfect and no more stupid message!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:

I did NOT let it customize on boot because I am worried it still has the Softbank extROM on it. Can someone clarify this? Or does the htc_wwe_wm6 have its own extROM?

I installed fit4cat_tweaker thingie, but it said it wont work unless I install another cab. So I will find that cab and run it, then run the tweak and let you all know about the extROM in case someone doesnt answer this message before I .... well I am talking myself into a hole... so anyways, it works.

This process works because 2.10 (correct me if im wrong) is based on SPL 1.09+ where access to the bootloader requires a password. The old Olipro hardspl is based upon 1.09- (before 1.09) where access to the bootloader settings does not require a password.
Yes wrong... HardSPL 1.10 is based on 1.04 SPL, and HardSPL 2.10 is based on 2.03 SPL. You need to flash a SPL based on 1.04 because newer SPLs don't have the 'rtask' command.

Now can someone tell me how to get rid of that bloody softbank message that says my "SIM is invalid or inserted incorrectly. Turn off the phone and check the sim. You can still dial 911 etc" (in Japanese).

This only happens with original Japanese SoftBank rom, it's into the rom's welcome.exe. The fix was posted long ago in hermes unlocker thread.

I will check out that welcome.exe thing too, thanks for your bootloader clarification... all I knew was that some bootloaders have the rtask taken out... so i made up crap to make my mind happy; it's a constant struggle with my brain for superiority.

edit: and oh yes... my codes, pof, were from Tupisdin. I supposed having codes from a few phones would not be good enough to make a calculator for unlock based on IMEI?

The unlock codes do not have any relation with the IMEI, they are generated randomly and it is not possible to do a calculator.

@pof: the imeicheck tool that gives your the ?patched? welcome.exe file.. can that be packed into an installer, thrown into the softbank extROM, added to the config file and then whenever that rom is flashed and extROM runs, the welcome.exe file will be patched and no more stupid screen?

POF so does this mean that if i get hold of one of the files send by those unlocking people i can use it for multiple handset unlocking ?

No you cannot. The file (.unl) is based on one IMEI. Basically it makes its own code based upon a single IMEI and will only work with one phone.

Yes, you can do that but imei-check will complain you're stealing their IP, so i don't recommend you to do this.

I have a method to generate the unlock code for ALL hermes. Please PM me if you would like a code (it worked for me, but I haven't tested it elsewhere yet). The price is FREE. (but supplies are limited ;)

atv1 gives you verbose mode so you can see the results of your input.

You can't claim IP rights on what isn't legally yours in the first place since you don't have any rights to the derivative work you've created.

it's like trying to claim the rights on a crack for windows licensing.

I recommend to those with a softbank to flash a non-softbank ROM. to be frank, they stink.
