I'm trying this Kitchen and BuildOS and CreateROM are working without any errors (or at least I have no problems starting them)

However, without making any changes to the Kitchen, the ROM already doesn't fit in the image. When I run CreateROM, i see these lines:

.....a while bunch a files pass by.......
Processing "xls2pxl.dll" as file
Processing "xmeevtsnd.dll" as module
Processing "zlib.dll" as module
Processing "zoom.bmp" as file
Total Sectors: 0000
Used Sectors : 159e1
Free Sectors : fffea61f
Searching for IMGFS start... Found at 00660000
Fixing... Done!

Is it just me or are you also having these problems? Or should I maybe take away from some of the OEM packages?

(to the mods: please alter the first post of this thread to show new mirror)Went to http://vidmes.bur.st/Uni/Kitchens/midget_1990, its empty, there is no DEV_UNI.exe.

It is strange that it is not on Midgets FTP?

First off having only had an XDA exec for a matter of weeks and only been playing around with creating roms for even less I have to say I am staggered by how good these kitchens are so compliments to all those who must have been involved.

The question I do have and I hope this doesn't sound too rich as a first post is why doesn't anyone seem to remove the .dsm and .rgu files as they build the roms. As far as I can see they take up a fair bit of space almost 2MB on some of the Helmi roms I've built and slow the system down by creating hundreds more files in the Windows folder to index.

Although I haven't yet got a working version of this kitchen I would have thought a CreateRom.bat of;

@echo off
copy ROM\nk.nb temp\nk.nb

cd temp
..\TOOLS\prepare_imgfs.exe nk.nb -nosplit
ECHO Next: Clean up files...
pause
del C:\DEV_UNI\Temp\dump\*.dsm
del C:\DEV_UNI\Temp\dump\*.rgu
ECHO Next: Build the rom...
pause
..\TOOLS\BuildImgfs.exe
..\TOOLS\make_imgfs.exe nk.nb -nosplit

del boot.hv
del boot.rgu

pause

would quite easily solve the problem and hopefully start a new trend for rom builders tidying up their images.

I've used the same thing on Helmi's kitchen and it seems to work well.

Oops! Looks like I need to half retract my previous statement as BuildOS.exe tidies up the .rgu files whereas the CreateOS.exe that I was previously using didn't. The question still remains about the .dsm files though. Is there any reason to leave them behind?

OK thanks for the reply, I just couldn't see that they made any difference at that point in the build. Excellent effort, I look forward to playing with this kitchen and hope you enjoy your well deserved sleep.

I was informed that this kitchen was broken, so I was waiting for the replacement

You should now be able to grab the replacements (thanks to Leo) here:

Hi Gerard,

I've got a working kitchen but having problems uploading to Rapidshare.
See my previous post.

Come back to you later.

Leo

It took forever to get the newer file from rapidshare. (Really annoying filehoster). I've unrared without any errors, so the download should be ok.

However, when I do another run strait out of the box, I get same as before (with some extra strange characters at the end)

..........
Processing "zlib.dll" as module
Processing "zoom.bmp" as file
Total Sectors: 0000
Used Sectors : 159e1
Free Sectors : fffea61f
ÄΦ¿í¬á! ìÑ ¼«úπ «Γ«íαếΓ∞ Σá⌐½ nk.nba ó »á¼∩Γ∞
..\Tools\HTC64_Extended_ROM_Tool.exe

Am I doing something wrong??

Hi Midget, could you elaborate a bit to us what are the customizations done for the original 1.0 rom which is not available in the kitchen version?
It will be really nice if we can do own customization based on your last 1.0 rom.
