upgrading the camera

i had the idea of changing the camera module in my hymalaya and i was curious to know if anyone had considered/attempted/succeeded this. if anyone has any ideas how to go about doing this/were to get parts from etc. the help would be much appreciated.

it being an smd chip device it would be likely to even if you could solver another on with enough smd solver skills it would not be leg compatible
and protocol compatible
and if htc even used a 3th party smd cam
the component would be if sold to normal comsumers would be more expensive unless one got 100 at the time more expensive then getting
a new and better cam equiped phone

unless you can match one from another make of phone, i know ive swopped em around on nokia's
