Remove shortcuts from bottom bar on T-Mobile MDA Compact III

How do you remove the shortcuts from the bottom bar of the today screen (web'n'walk, Call history, SIM manager, File explorer)?

I've tried that and it removes the whole bottom bar?

I just want to remove the shortcuts from the bar, but leave the battery icon etc.

That one in the thread removes the whole bottom bar.
