View Full Version : MUN BR 4.0 based ROMs and locked G4's

I've run into a weird problem flashing the MUN 4.0 based ROMs. I do all the steps to use the shell tool, start the shell tool, and the shell tool runs forever without telling me the ROM has been flashed and to hard reset. I've even let the shell tool run overnight. I've tried it with all of the MUN 4.0 based ROMs on the forum with the same results.
What seems to work for me is to let the shell tool run for approx. 15 minutes, use task manager to end the shell tool, and then do a hard reset.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

I have the same problem with this ROM and I do exactly what you're doing. I just close the cmd that is running with shelltool after 20 minutes and it tells me to hard reset the ppc.
with older rom's it did that automatically.
anyway using this method works without any problem.

With the base mUn rom release, I did get the flash complete message.
After adding packages though, my only clue that it's done is when the cursor on the today screen no longer moves, and on my PC using Process Explorer I no longer see any activity with ActiveSync. The more stuff I add, the longer it takes. Anywhere between 11 to 19 minutes, and is typically very consistant given the rom that I'm working with.
I've flashed over 20 times, and never had an issue from this, but I agree that it's a bit unnerving.
I'm living with it (locked) just in case I need to return the phone, so I can always throw the factory rom back on and say "hey! it's a piece of crap, I want a new one!"

Matt, I didn't even get a hard reset message even before you and Mr. V started customizing it. But, thanks for Pandora. That's what I'm running at the moment.

if you get your phone replaced by Tmobile atleast you should end up with a G3 Because my first device was G4 and I wanted a new one I droped it..i hate scratches on phones so once i got the replacement it was G3
and if it doesnt work you'll just end up with a brand new G4 Wizard..so you cant lose trying this
