OK I am kind of a n00b, but I thought I had this all figured out. I am currently running Faria's Crossbow version. So yes I am CID unlocked (in other words I have successfully flashed ROM's before). I wanted to go back to the base Tmoblie 2.26, but when I hook the phone up and walk through the wizard as soon as the status bar comes up for Upgranding the ROM, the phone turns off, and the software asks me to do a recovery. It looks like it is never entering bootloader mode. I have also tried to hold down the camera and press the little reset button by the IR port. Same results the phone powers off, and won't come back on until I remove the battery. Looks like there are some pretty cool ROM's here, and I just want to give them a try. I also tried Crossbow Reloaded 1.5, and the standard 3.08IPL/SPL.

My current verions are IPL/SPL 2.26 GSM 2.25.11 OS 2.18.10.

Thanks!

Hi,

First thing is if you already followed all procedures to correctly unlock your phone before doing anything here! If so, try this procedure:

You can also have a look on the Wiki session!:)

Good luck!

Take out your SD card. A friend of mine's phone does exactly this. As soon as you take out the SD card it goes right into bootloader mode with no issues.

It was the SD card. I forgot to take it out. Thanks!

My phone did this last time I tried to enter bootloader, my question is why is it doing it now? I've entered bootloader with the buttons various times before.

For my friend its specific to his SD card. I put my own SD card in his phone and he can get to the bootloader fine. He's been in the bootloader in the past with his SD card, so its seems (for him) that its specific to this particular SD card (he has a 1GB Sandisk) and something new that has happened (he had never been on a cooked rom before, only official ones from Cingular and wasn't CID unlocked when we found this issue). Don't know if it has to do with the card going bad, or amount of data on it, or what.

You are missing the point of this thread. In the situation we are discussing, that method will NOT work. The phone literally just turns off and will not go into Bootloader mode no matter what you try. If you run RUU, it just turns off (and you have to pull the battery to get it to turn back on). If you turn off the phone and hold the camera button the phone will not turn on (and again, you have to pull the battery). It refuses to go into bootloader until you pull the SD card for this specific condition.

Don't quote me, but I seem to recall my friend tried putting the phone in bootloader and it did this. I told him to pull the SD card and it instantly went into bootloader (without pressing the power button). So its like the phone was frozen waiting for something before going into bootloader. When the SD card came out it unstuck. And thats probably why the battery has to be pulled (as the phone really isn't turned off, its stuck with a screen that hasn't started).

Well I've been using cooked roms since like 2 months after I got my MDA (april last year + or -), so I don't think that has anything to do with my case, but I do have the same sd card as your friend, and now that I remember the other day the card wasn't being read. I had to pull it out and put it back in a few times before it was recognized again; I think I'm in the market for a new card. Just in case.

Don't know if it helps, but I have loaded 3 different ROMs fine now. In my case at least it was just the SD Card (1GB Adata I think).

On a side note sorry others are having issues too, but you guys sure make a n00b feel good. Most of the time, no matter how much I search for something, the first response to the thread is "why don't you search for it there is already a thread here <link>". Nice to finally post something that applies to others as well as myself.

Keep up the good work, great site!

Personally I think it's in bad taste to think that just because you kinda-sort off are trying to help that people have to deal with attitude. Anytime I direct someone to a thread I try to simply give the link, and if it's a really obvious question I might kindly remind the person to use the search function. If a question really bothers me I simply don't reply; we create more clutter in threads by acting all high and mighty then obvious questions do.

Not to clutter up this thread, but I totally concur. I've tried to take the high road the last month or so. I either give them the info they need, warn them of the dangers they are apparently ignorant of, or I just skip over the thread completely if I can't answer it without a rant ;)

It is not as bad here as other sites. The mods have posted some really good sticky's with the FAQ's, and for the most part they are very thorough. Some people just don't want to take the time to read. Enough said we are a bit off topic now.

Thanks Again!
