Hello gays!

I hav a problem with my Mda.
In my mda was windows 05 and i want to upgrade to 06
And im download rom from thiece site:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305125

And i Upgrade rom thiece method :

ANOTHER FLASH METHOD :
If you have the chinese WM6 rom, downgrade to some WM5 with official RUU, then:

download this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/29098553...fixed.zip.html

Once you unpack it, please put the nk.nbf (charmer wm6) into the Shelltool folder. Open shelltool.exe. Click Get Rom info, then click Extract OS. Wait until its finished and you'll receive a file called 8004000-OS.nb (save it for later).

Download the xbeta Chinese WM6 rom : http://rapidshare.com/files/27671349...eta.exe. html

Extract it and put that 8004000.OS you saved before in the XBETA directory. In the itsutils folder of xbeta rom you will find enablerapi.cab and cert_spcs.cab. Copy them to your device, install them on Device Memory, then soft reset.

run xbeta.cmd and choose the 8004000OS.nb file to flash (you should be connected with AS and have your radio module turned off).

When the screen goes green and the flashing is finished make a HARD RESET!. Press Camera and Voice Dail buttons (hold them). Put and hold the stylus in reset button for 2 seconds. Release it. Wait until you see some white fonts on black screen. Then release those 2 buttons. Push the green dial button.

I choose thiece method becouse the first method in the rom subject doesnt work.

But after im instal new rom i have Era rom and when im complete upgrading to wm6 the phone is restart and im see era splash screen  and its strange for me :/

So the problem is it is in startup screen showin Era splash screen and he STOP! i tried to hard reset but it gives fat partition error.

Please HElp me!

sounds like your device is CID locked at the time you flash it.. which gives you the same splash screen. However, the fat partition error (I presume it said format fail), is a big problem that AFAIK, it has no solution.

What you can do (at least) now is to put your phone in to bootloader mode and flash it (check the wiki, I think there is a section on this).

the splash screen indicated that it has already flashed, but, as I've mentioned above, the partition failure are more complicated than that and may not be fixable yourself. I can't help anymore now, you can try to find some other solution. Good luck.

at the top section of this screen, there is this "XDA-Wiki", go in to the 'Wizard' section. G3 G4 CID unlock info is there.

""Splash screen freezing -> SOLUTION !!! DIY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Damn... I walked around and around and solution was all near me and able to do it myself...

Ok here´s how I done it.

First, I must explain what was the problem.
After update the firmware (not actually upgrade, I had the phone full of trash, so I decided to reflash same firmware v2.18 PTG), the Qtek 9100 / HTC Wizard freezed at 2nd splash screen (the one that shows OS versions IPL version, ect). Tried many different versions, upgraded to 2.24, 2.25, downgraded even to 1.6.7.3, but always same problem, freezed on second splash screen. I read many topics on xda-dev, and seen some people with same problem. Apparently there was 2 solutions. 1- send phone back to warranty. 2- write backup ROM from SD in bootloader.

Passed more then 15 hours asking for this SD backup everywhere, and COULDN´T find any help. Apparently no one had this "SD dump ROM Backup".

So here´s how I solved my problem

1- I tought that a SD backup was needed, and yes it is. But u can use your own phone and your own SD to do it.

2- Get a clean SD card (in qtek 9100 / Htc Wizard case is MiniSD) with 128MB (some people say 64MB, but I personally used a 128MB, maybe a 64MB is enough)

3- Kill (task manager) wescomm.exe (this is related with activesync installed on your PC). Insert the blank SD card on the phone.

4- Get your phone in bootloader mode. Like this : Phone powered off, press Camera button + Power On, will enter in bootloader mode (RGB screen).

5- Now connect your USB cable to your phone. And start MTTY_updateROM.exe (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/romupdate.rar). After open, on Port selection, choose \\.\WCEUSBSH001 and press OK. A window will open with a blank sheet.

6- Type "r2sd all" and hit enter... wait to the end (at end shows "cmd>"). On your phone screen u can follow backup progress... small bar will appear down the RGB screen.

7- Power off the phone (or remove battery), enter bootloader mode (camera button + power on) and this time RGB won´t appear right away. Will ask if u want to "download SD image", press voice dial button to agree, and writting will begin. Wait to the end. Power off and power on normally. Now your phone should be working ok. Not even needed to reflash the phone after this.

Thanks to all and hope this helps more people with this problem""

Hi. I know that the focus is now on the new ROM, but I am having a problem with my MDA Compact II after following the alternative flashing method. Original details:
IPL 1.12, SPL 1.12.0000, GSM 01.11.20, OS 1.12.2.23
All seemed to go ok, following step by step as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39129&d=1179243687 and I got to the end step with ‘Congratulations’. I had no error messages. However upon hard reset I got the message: FORMAT FAT PARTITION, FORMAT IS FAILED (oops!)
The screen then showed the same details as before, but with OS now 10.2.0.8.
I’ve done some searching on the Forums & tried restoring the phone via bootloader using both “MDAc2_ROM_Johnnnnnnnnnny_v1.0” (stalls at 99%) and “RUU_Charmer_1120223_11202110_11220_T-MobileUK_Ship” (this completes 100% & reverts the OS to 1.12.2.23, but I get the same FORMAT IS FAILED message).
Any further suggestions how I can revert to the original state, or update to WM6?
(My wife has an MDA II as well – I’ve checked my battery in her phone & it is fully charged).
PS Ignore the details at the bottom - I also have an MDA COMPACT (I)

Chameleon846: if you read carefully, you would know that you need at least bootloader in ver. 2.x to flash WM6. And seeing you have 1.x, no wonder it didnt flash poperly. GO find an official HTC Prophet rom and flash it with RUU. It will help.

no problem with this, this happen time after time on every ppc, it's random flashing error.

please, read forums before asking, this was mentioned many times...

vlodeck, thanks. A little knowledge... I stupidly missed the 2.x bit...
I've tried the RUU method with an official ROM. It completes all 100%, but will not go any further. I've seen bits about a restore from an SD card, but can't find the exact method (copying the nk.nbf file to SD & running bootloader doesn't do anything. If I manage to sort this am I able to upgrade the bootloader to 2.x?
Thanks.

Chameleon: not charmer official ROM. Prophet ROM!

vlodeck: I've just RUU'd via the Tmobile site at: http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/download_manager_mda_com2.html
The upgrade sucessfully completes & I'm now at:
IPL 2.06 SPL 2.06.0000 GSM 02.19.21 OS 2.6.2.27
but I still get the FORMAT IS FAILED message. What am I doing wrong?!
I've tried nocturne's link, but when I get to
##Type "r2sd all" and hit enter... wait to the end (at end shows "cmd>")##
I get the cmd> prompt (almost immediately), but nothing else happens.

Hi nocturne, thanks for your reply. I've just tried again after restarting my PC & I get the following message from romupdate:
###
***** user area size = 0x3D680000 Bytes
R2SDBackup() - Download type = 6
usTotalBlock = 1 sizeof(SDCARD_SIGNATRUE_TABLE)=512
You didn't get the proper security level to download a specific image
Cmd>

Is this due to the fact that my MDA might not be CID unlocked? If so, is it possible to do this from the bootloader (I've found out how to do it from a running PDA... chicken & egg?). Similarly, I guess I can't go back from IPL 2.06 either?
Thanks for your time.

vlodeck: I think I found a wm5 rom for prophet (via google... no joy here...)
http://rapidshare.com/files/17208693/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe
RUU'd using this rom. Worked 100%.
Now: IPL 2.06 SPL 2.20.000 GSM 02.47.21 OS 2.20.7.34
Still problem with security level with Romupdate.
Still freezes (now with qtek splash)
With Hard reset still says FORMAT IS FAILED

Any precise advise would be very welcome. I don't understand your instructions...

i saw similar error on my machine, too. if i remember it was caused by using not SD card, but MMC card (in those low level operations, it also depends on this, yes). After i switched to SD card (i used 512MB) it went ok...

EDIT: it seems also to be related to cid locked devices. looks that you have no chance to repair it unless you unlock your machine - i'm not skilled in this. See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1282309&postcount=41 (and previous posts, this is directly the same problem, just described on wizard)

Vlodeck: flashing prophet will not help in this, problem will persist. This error is about somehow damaged partition, it's not caused by flashing new rom on old bootloader. Rom itself is flashed correctly, just the data part to which eom is copied and there executed is damaged. the last rom flashed is reelly there

nocturne: It’s definitely an SD card. I’ve even tried it formatted as FAT instead of FAT32 (seen in another post), but no change.

I’ve investigated the link that describes imei-check unlocking. Interestingly, now I took vlodeck’s advice & changed to a prophet ROM the imei-check unlock tool for the charmer finds an ‘unknown device’ & I have to use the prophet version of the tool (it correctly identifies the IMEI). I am unable to now ‘downgrade’ back to the most up-to-date Tmobile ROM…

Before I spend the £20 unlocking the IMEI I just want to confirm a few things:
1. There is no free way of IMEI unlocking when stuck in the bootloader!
2. If I unlock it, then I should be able to follow the method of making an SD image of the ROM, load this back to the MDA & overcome the FORMAT IS FAILED problem. Hopefully then I can ‘downgrade’ back to a Charmer ROM (and then subsequently upgrade to Charmer WM6… as long as I have bootloader 2.x)? Does this sound right?
3. Alternatively, my wife also has a Charmer with most recent Tmobile ROM. Can I alternatively take an image of that ROM & use it to restore mine? Without unlocking? (Using method at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_CID_Unlock ). Don't want to 'brick' her MDA as well!
Thanks!

I have same your problem. My Charmer stucked in the bootsceen when i flashed WM6.0. Some one said use J.A.P tool but I can't find it and don't know to use. Need some advise. Thanks

Chameleon846

OK. This is bizarre...
After a bit of reading I was determined to get my MDA Compact II out of 'brick' mode & back to it's original Tmobile WM5 ROM (it was stuck with a non-functioning Prophet ROM). I used the NO_ID RUU with the original Tmobile ROM & the MDA reverted back to IPL 1.12, but the SPL stayed at 2.20. The MDA would not boot, but after a hard reset the FAT formatted OK (Before I kept getting FORMAT IS FAILED). I then tried reinstating the Prophet ROM and...

... I've unbricked my MDA!!!

It has booted fine, albeit with a Prophet ROM.

After a bit of a pause to catch my breath I think that I might now try to downgrade/CID unlock it & then upgrade to WM6.

This might help you if you have a 'long-term' brick!

OK. For those of you having problems ‘bricking’ your MDA II, this is a summary of my exploits.
(Lots learnt over the last week!).
Starting ROM: IPL 1.12, SPL 1.12.0000, GSM 01.11.20, OS 1.12.2.23

1 I tried to upgrade to WM6 using method 2 by vlodeck & nocturne
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305125
Yes, I know. I needed bootloader 2.x & I only had 1.12 – hindsight!

2, I was now up to IPL 1.12, SPL 1.12.0000, GSM 01.11.20, OS 10.2.0.8, but had a bricked MDA. If I tried to hard reset I got the message: FORMAT FAT PARTITION, FORMAT IS FAILED.

3. In an attempt to get the MDA working I tried a couple of other ROM’s (including Tmobile’s latest release). They flashed ok from the bootloader, but I still got the FORMAT IS FAILED message. Also each time I upgraded the ROM I couldn’t downgrade to a previous one.

4. The method of backing up from SD card was suggested using romupdate, but when I tried ‘r2sd all’ I an error: “You didn't get the proper security level to download a specific image”. This is probably because the MDA was CID locked.

5. I could have paid £20 to unlock this with imei-check, but was keen on a free method! (Also, I contacted imei-check who advised me not to try their program with the phone in its current state…).

6. I found a link about using a ‘no-id’ version of RUU. Using this I flashed the original Tmobile ROM from bootloader & the MDA reverted back to IPL 1.12, but the SPL stayed at 2.20. The MDA would not boot, but after a hard reset the FAT formatted

7. I then tried reinstating the Prophet ROM and the MDA came back to life!

8. I then used the ‘downgrade’ & CID unlock.: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Prophet_CID_Unlock
(Alternative file location: http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=437&PN=1)

9. To confirm that I was now unlocked I tried romupdate & this time the ‘r2sd’ worked fine.

10. Next I flashed the ROM via RUU to the newest Tmobile ROM & finally did the WM6 upgrade!

11. Success!

I looked at so many posts that typically I can't find it now! The file is called: RUU_NoID.zip.
