how to switch from ROM 2.15 to black 3.0.1

I am having a difficult time updating roms.
I have:
Rom version: 2.15.502.3
rom date: 04/09/07
radio ver: 1.40.30.00
proto ver: 32.73.7020.16h

I am trying to update to Black 3.0.1

Every time I try error 203
something about usb not being hooked up, but I tried 5 times and same issue every time, some one please help this noobie out.

Actually, I think there has been some kind of delay. Latest update from the developer was "A week or two" - that was posted yesterday.
