Help Needed Stuck on IPL/SPL Screen

Hi;

I recently bought XDA mini S & today morning when i tried to upgrade to WM6 my XDA with following file i downloaded :
"HTC.Wizard.Faria.WWE.CE.v5.2.318.AKU4.0.0.01.WM6.R om.Upgrade.USE_AT_YOUR_OWN_RISK.rar"

I ran "romupdateutility.exe" from the installer. It went fine till 99% but suddenly i got error "Error ocured during installation. Pls refer to readme file" but no readme file available :mad:

Now my problem is, i am stuck on RGB Screen
IPL 2.21.001
SPL 2.21.001

USB

and can't proceed further.

Can anybody help me out pls.

Right click the RUU that you run and extract the files in it, you´ll find a Word doc file that probably you should´ve read before....! Wizard Love or your original ROM will take you out of the tricolor screen, good luck!

There are already step by step guides - read them. If you can't find them, read them, and understand them, then don't flash your ROM. There's an entire board dedicated to the G4 version, but I guess you didn't see it. :rolleyes:

For upgrading READ and UNDERSTAND the content of the first sticky of the G4 section. If you are going to save some money not paying to imeicheck you should consider spending enough time reading the diverse threads. Good luck!

DON'T CID UNLOCK YOUR PHONE USING LOKIWIZ . YOU WILL BRICK IT !!!
You have a G4 and it can be unlocked only by http://www.imei-check.co.uk/

You don't necessarily need to unlock it. It's easy. This are the stepps to follow :

1. Search for "Wizard Love ROM"
2. Download it and flash it using RUU.
3. Wait untill it's flashed and the customisation is finished !!!!
4. If you want to flash to a custom ROM, just download a rom of your choice
5. Extract the nk.nbf using WinRar or similar.
6. Download ShellTool
7. IMPORTANT !!! Read SHELL TOOL Readme and follow exactly to proper flash your phone
8. Enjoy !

We still need to know for sure whether you have a G3 or G4. You say you have a G4, but your IPL/SPL ends in 001, which is a G3. A G4 chip will have 3 zeroes -- not 2 zeroes.

So, which is it for sure?? You can't do anything until that gets cleared up.

That's a G4 :P
G3 is like : 2.XX
G4 is like : 2.XX.XX1

Ok, i Flashed my device with "wizard_love rom" & now i can able to start my PDA but after configuring screen, my PDA stucks at Pop-up menus Window, i can still able to connect with Active Sync on my PC.

Pls help me to move forward.

I've copied and pasted directly from the Wizard WiKi. If this information is wrong, someone needs to correct it.

A *G3* Wizard will have the following:
IPL: 1.xx *or* 2.xx *or* 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has *TWO* 0's.). _SPL: 1.xx *or* 2.xx *or* 2.xx.00x (Note that this version only has *TWO* 0's.)_
A *G4* Wizard will have the following:_IPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has *THREE* 0's.)_ _SPL: 2.xx.000x (Note that this version has *THREE* 0's.)_

That information was taken directly from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1061880&postcount=1). It's the same thread I refer people to in order for them to find out if they have a G3 or G4. If it's wrong, I'm sitting here with egg on my face. . . :confused:

Ok, i Flashed my device with "wizard_love rom" & now i can able to start my PDA but after configuring screen, my PDA stucks at Pop-up menus Window, i can still able to connect with Active Sync on my PC.

Do a hard reset. (hold the comm manager button and the voice speed dial and press the reset button. when asked, press send and it will format.)
Don't cancel the customisation.

Is hard reset is required after flashing the PDA ? I was stuck on POP up menu screen but when i follow the instruction for Cut & Paste it booted normally :p

I have let completed all the setting to load & again the PAD restarted normally.

Pls let me know if i do the hard reset ?

No hard reset needed if it's all good. But troubles me ...how could you select the pop up menu before the cut/paste....tutorial appeared...?? :confused:

Also...you must be lucky that you didn't brick your phone. So next time, think twice and flash only after you're sure that you know what you're doing.
Remember : Don't flash anything that contains IPL/SPL !!! (a G3 bootloader will brick your G4. And from now on flash using ShellTool or unlock your device via www.imei-check.co.uk - that will cost you some money)

After this screen in shelltool, i am getting Error "Can not execute replog.exe" & the PDA hangs. I tried doing the hard reset but the PDA hangs just on the start up screen of the previous OS "AKU 2.3"

Any suggessions....or am i doing any silly mistake ??? :(

I'm at a simular spot.

The problem is mine only displays the color boot screen when plugged into the AC adapter. When it's not plugged in or if it's hooked to USB, it doesn't turn on at all.

I've flashed my previous MDA before & everything went fine with the unlock, custom rom flash, etc. That was last year and it was WM5. This time (different MDA), I'm stuck.
I've tried plugging it into three different machines & using two different USB cables. Both the cables have successfully charged the unit from all three PC's before, so I'd assume it's getting power. So, I'm confused as to why it'll boot with the AC & not USB. Any ideas?

You made some mistakes when you cooked your rom. Can't know for sure what youd did wrong, perhaps better if you start all over again.

Get it into bootloader (hold camera and press power on) and then connect it to the PC. If it doesn't work the first time, take off the batteri, insert it back and try again.
Make sure that you have enough battery before doing that.
Ok, after this flash a rom that you know for sure it works . If you have a G3, i suggest Tmobile 2.26, and if you have a G4, try the Wizard Love

Isn't the bootloader that red/green/blue screen?
If I plug it into AC, then it comes up with that screen and stays there.
If I plug it into USB or not plug it in, then I get nothing. No lights, nothing on the screen, period.

Supposing you have a G3 Unlocked

- Take out battery
- Put battery back in
- Hold Camera and press the soft reset button - this will get you to the 3 colour bar screen - the bootloader
- plug it in the usb
- on the pc, start the tmobile 2.26 RUU (the phone is still in bootloader, don't touch it)
- wait untill it's finished...
- unplug it from pc

That should do it if you follow EXACTLY theese stepps.
After that, wait untill customisation is over,

- plug it back in the usb
- don't start any partneship
- run the ruu of the WM6 you llike
- wait untill finished
- unplug it from usb
- wait for customise

and you should be good to go

Also make sure you have removed your SD card while doing all of this. SD cards can cause weird problems with flashing.

Yeah, I saw that one after I did it.
It did have a SD card in it while flashing.
I've removed it while trying all this stuff out.

Still nothing.

Is there a way to restore a ROM off of SD without any software, etc?

I just remembered I got a 128MB mini SD last year when I got the MDA and did a backup of the ROM.

If you were backup using mtty, just write the backup back to SD (e.g. using WinHex) and use mtty to write it back to the wizard.
Unlike other PPC Phone such as Asus, the Wizard does not offer direct restore through SD.
