Extended Rom Question

Looking into upgrading to WM6, and keep seeing Extended Rom not included? Can't find out if this means that there will be an empty space where the Ext. Rom used to be or the previous Roms Ext. Rom is left in place? Hope its the latter because I've put in UTA into my present Ext. Rom.
Sorry if this is answered elsewhere or a stupid question I'm just an amateur.

Extended rom may cause battery drainage in WM6. That and for the sake of G4 owners, i haven't seen any rom with Extended Rom included. Normaly, you will still have your old extended rom it won't be overwritten, but accesing it however, may lead to corrupting it and so making your battery life very very short.
