WM6 Crossbow PDAViet ROM

hi all,
sorry, i'm very newbie here.
i would like to upgrade my pda to pdaviet, but i try many time do download from rapidshare and it's always failed. is there any other path on internet, on megaupload or others, please......
i got it using rapidshare. Same problem than you, i used more than one server and i tried like 5 times. Fianlly i got one that worked.

It seems that I got some problems sending MMS.

If I'm lucky, it only takes abt 10 tries to send an MMS.
Receiving is usually no issue at all, and works on the first try.

- Anyone with a similar experience?

note: (the MMS's are not big, abt 10-30K)

Since upgrading to 4.0.0.0.3 it works like a charm... :)

just upgraded from PDA-Mobiz to PDAViet WM6 - works a lot smoother...

the battery dies (which tends to happen unexpectedly on my phone)

lock code and settings all get lost as with other ROM :(

other than that i'm happy

oh and it really bugs me that it still says 'Turn On Wireless' when wireless is on - i know this is all the ROMs not just this one :p

Here's a reg fix:

This will change the "turn on wireless" link to commManager. Posted 2 pages back.. ;)

On device info, my "model no" shows a square character after some time of usage.

But i could. When i was using WM5, i could changed these buttoms. At the moment i upgrated to WM6 Prophet_PDAViet_4.0.0.0.3 , it is when it doesn't work. then you mean that with WM5 it was possible and not with with WM6?

It was working all the way to WM5 aku 2.2. Starting with WM5 aku 2.3 through all WM6 builds, either buttons 1 or 2 cannot be changed.

Then best way to regain that function is with 'NeoTab' by Inteks posted on these forums.

Yes, you need step 1 & 2. You flash to a temp rom (step 1) that can accept process for step 2, the actual WM6 rom.

Both step 1 & 2 files you need are right here. Read through the thread so you'll be confident you know exactly what to do. Step 1 flash is like a regular flash you've done before. Step 2 is different, but have patience & let the process complete, sometimes 25 min. At the end, you'll have to do a hard reset on prophet. If you haven't done that before or in a long time, be prepared before you start, read the manual, so you get it right.

If you run into a problem, do NOT immediately disconnect usb between prophet & computer. Sometimes, you might have to get back in boot loader mode (colored bars), to repeat process. Generally, I advise if you have a problem, go into boot loader mode, re-flash your original rom (so, have that handy in case you need it) & then start again.

Is it me, or does PWord and PExcel load slower than in WM5.0? WM6.0 now has a progress bar at the bottom when you open a .doc or .xl file. And I feel it is slower...

I think 12MB of PP size is maximum for prophet. If it is 16MB the memory under 20MB free.

Yes, as tiffanybaby mentioned, CE-Star(v2.8R3) conflicts with Windows Live Messenger. Hence if you're using CE-Star for your Chinese solution, please install the latest version of CE-Star.

You could send an email to Mobem support team to ask for the download link.
I've intalled and no any issue on Messenger.

I've updated with the WM6_Prophet_PDAViet_4.0.0.0.3. Just 24 hours ago. I 've found one problem with the buttons configuration. It lets me change button 5, the ones is "button 4 hold". At the moment i wanted to change button 2 (OK), it doesn't work, i mean, it works with the usually function, but it doesn't change. I tried to change the regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\...\Shell\40C2 and nothing....
Is this problem normal?

1. my incoming call is very silent, even the volume was set to highest, but not for the incoming text message(s) this happen on some people on this forum too, rite anyone help us?
2. i feel it slower then wm5, so i have to over clock my dopod to 260Mhz via battery status, is it rite?
3. i cant find the automatic setting for operators gprs like wm5, it's make me find some trouble when i have to send/received MMS or email. someone please help me.....

If you used to overclock your WM5 prophet, suggest you do the same thing in WM6.

Yes, I missed a few calls on 0003 with no records (friend showed me he called 3 times in his phone log). Not sure why. Missing ring tone.
Went to the Setting and checked, nothing wrong and returned to main screen. This time the phone rang with new test calls. Absolutely didn't do any setting changes other than openning the Setting screen and checked.

I've soft reset, than i test it, it keep quite sound... :( I keep on thinking, what's wrong with this Dopod! I try to change the volume *it's come two icon volume when we tap the speaker icon on taskbar* then i set it *both of icon, phone and pda* IT'S WORK!!! the sound is some so loud, hihihihi :D I'm so stupid *but if ini wm5 it just need adjust the pda icon rite, (or wrong?)* so @ jychan28 have U try this action?

When finished, execute Upgrade_ROM.bat again, and be patient... waiting for the Congratulation message!

That's why 4....1 has 4mb pool-paging, and 4...3 has 8mb! The more mb you have of pool the faster it'll work. Now the choice is to have an equilibrium amongst RAM and SPEED. I preffer 8mb pool-paging.

A WISH: Could next versión come EXTRA CLEAN with

NO windows update,
NO streaming MEDIA
NO Internet Sharing
No Search (always will use RESCO! or TComander!)
And for me it is ok if Calc, tasks, and notes is not loaded either :D

So we will get some free space that in some cases is soo necessary! and it is silly if you use other sofware whicho does the same but better!

5. There's no error and succeed whitin 15minutes

you have to do a hardreset after install step2
go easily to settings-> system --> clear storage then type 1234

after that you will have no error anymore.

but be sure to make backup your contacts, etc.. before make a hardreset

Hi All,

After ~2 weeks, I've decided to flash back to my old dopod wm5 rom... My opinion of this rom (and all other wm6 roms) is that there are many small bugs that someone could live with, but I just can't. the rom is 99% there, but that last 1% is just too much of a hassle. Here is a short list of niggles to report for those still on the fence about flashing to WM6. I'm posting in this thread because the majority of the issues I foudn with PDAviet rom 4.0.0.0.1. I'm assuming it's pretty much the same on all other WM6 roms.

1) After a softreset, any bluetooth device needs to be re-authorized by entering passcode

2) wifi sometimes cannot turn on. after softreset, wifi will work *but* all my saved wifi connections will be gone

3) SIP arrow takes very long time to pop up (5-10 seconds)... very annoying when trying to switch between keyboard and block recognizer, etc... <---- Edit: This is an issue with AKU2.2 and higher roms. From what I remember, when I flashed mobizPDA which used AKU2.15 WM5 rom as base, this was not an issue.

4) I've missed a few calls with no records on my side.

5) bluetooth headset which use to be 100% ok in wm5 sudden has problems with it's mic.

6) battery drains marginally faster. only my own feeling. no hard proof

Here are some things I'll miss when I'm back to WM5:

1) nice looking title/status bars.

2) those sweet wm6 sounds

3) .NET framework built into rom

4) Fast softreset times

5) better (and faster) smart dial

6) faster pocket office (excel in particular)

7) better looking dialer

8) more available memory

9) faster/better calendar app

Good luck to everyone. I'll still be keeping an eye out to see what new ROMs offer!

I'm using 4.0.0.0.3 version last week. I think all items except SIP-delay are resolved. Specially no need to re-pair BT devices and WiFi are working well. I've a special battery, 200 mAh more than standard, so I can not compare.
I've flashed back my device to WM5 about 20 times from others WM6 Roms, but now I can live with this one.

Yes, I agree this ROM (Prophet 4.0.0.0.3 PDAViet) is the best WM6 ROM.

Since my prophet (G4) is CID unlocked by imei-check, I can freely switch from different roms without any risk. So far, I have tested all the WM6 English ROMs, and I am sure this ROM is the best.

Smart1's V2 is also good, stable, but with more bugs than this ROM. Smart1's v3 (or called v1.3) is good, too, but again, more bugs, and very very bad battery comsumption.

PDAMobiz's ROM is the worst. Slow, and full of bull-shit junks. I tested all of their's release, and to tell the truth, I finally got used to those junks, but I still could not stand with a lot of bugs, and slow speed.

I finally switched to this rom (Prophet 4.0.0.0.3 PDAViet). It has been more than 1 week. And I am very happy with this one. The ext-rom has a few add-ons, but still clean (sort of) and acceptable. I have not got any issues with this ROM so far.

Highly recommend this ROM.

I think we all been fooling around with the WM6 for quite some time. We've all missed some valuable sleeping hours. But we are junkies!!! what can we say? We all like to put worms into our buttholes and scratch, scratch, scratch .... (after spending much efforts to dig up those worms).

Note: I did not re-install every softwares after upgrade. I used the old WM6 backup files. So some bugs could be just carried over from the old.

I went through WM6 of Prophet 2007, Mobiz 1.0, 1.1i, Russian ROM 1.0, 1.2,1.3 and1.4 and PDAViet from 1.0, 1.1, 4.0.0.0.1. ....2 and ....3. ( I didn't have a chance on the Smart's ones).

First, the 1.0 ROM's can be left behind, not much salvage values. They are the fastest but missing a lot of features or containing more serious bugs.

The 1.1 version ROM's can be used if you're not so critical on your PDA phones. In general, they are useful but with known bugs.

Then, we jump to the lastest ones. I found all the complaints are real, whatever mentioned I got those experiences too.

Here is what I found for the bottom line. I am using PDAViet 4.0.0.0.2. Down from the 4....3. 4....2 is better than 4....1 for sure. I am not saying 4....3 is bad just I have less luck with it.

For the 4....2, VOIP works, BuleTooth works and Windows Life Messagers works. Wifi settings seems to stay at least before next reset. I found my clock does not keep time after hard reset or after changing battery so just re-typing the setting didn't drive me crazy like other bugs.

For the SIP part, do an CSID export, delete, import all in one breath will solve the delay problem Million thanks to the guy who found that solution. I bought my Atom Exec and left my Prophet was exactly for that problem.

I have the luxury of keep AtomExec on WM5 (I have no WM6 choice on that one) and I couldn't stand keeping my Prophet on WM5.

So far, I am still keeping track on missing phone calls on 4....2. I knew I missed 2 phone calls this morning while I was on the internet. But after I reset the phone, the icon showed I have voice messages. That is better than 4....3 which left no trace at all.

Bottom line, if you can't stand the heat, leave the kitchen! For those who like scratch their butt, continue to share their experience.

I am sure, if finally we get a bug free WM6, we all will move to WM7 beta and have the cycle all over again!!!

I have the same problems with my device. My car's bleutooth phonesystem automatically identified my phone, but the phone was set to undiscoverable.

Sometimes I can use the phone for hours without any disconnection and sometimes it keeps on disconnecting...

Yes u can use MMS with this rom... just configure the MMS and GPRS settings

i'm using WM6-PDAViet V4.0.0.0.3 on my O2 Neo, runs great and smooth since day one.

but i just can't get "Destinator" to work on this rom, or maybe WM6. (all other programs ok, like tomtom, igo, mio, iGuidance, Navigon, R66....etc)

i can installed Destinator without problem, when i run the program, i can run some first time setup then it just quit the program itself. (also try in safe mode, same thing)

i did try Destinator 6 and 7, same thing happen. i'm sure the program is work 100%, coz i can put the same card right in another phone with WM5 works good without any problem.

anyone try and have the same problem? or any idea why some programs have problem on WM6?

any help or idea will be more than welcome.

Do you have all the details of this particular fix? which part of the registry needs to be exported and imported? I don't quite understand why this would do anything since the end affect is exactly the same.

I've used abother computer, and then it worked :)

Seems to be better than my old rom (Smart1 v2), more stable, faster and some nice little preinstalled tools :) No bugs so far, props for the developer!

I took the plunge. Instead of going back to WM5, I flashed to 4.0000.3..

i'll be back to post any bugs i run into...

Already a few good things about it:

1) holding the power button doesn't run the thirdparty poweroff utility. It defaults to the windows shutdown

2) preliminary tests show that bluetooth settings are retained after soft reset. But i'll still have to do long term testing.**


***** EDIT: after a few hours of playing around, I was able to lose my BT settings. Happened after a few soft resets where nothing happened, then, BOOM, starting up my bt headset caused a popup asking ""bt headset" wants to start a connection.

***** Double edit: Couldn't get wifi started just now. after soft reset and messing around with the wifi button, eventually i got it going and guess what? my wifi settings are gone....

This ROM is almost perfect, if it weren't those bugs:
- Email accounts missing after some time
- Bluetooth settings missing after some time
- Wireless settings missing after some time
- Wireless not connecting sometimes
I also had these issues on Fantastic 1.1. Maybe that "official Wizard ROM" floating around does not have this problems. Let's hope someone cooks it for Prophet. For now, this problems are kind of show stoppers.
Even thus, it is still a great work made by this ROM Chefs. I really love the cleanliness of this ROM.

I Think you only have problems with yours gprs, exchange , wifi, etc settings if you do a soft reset with the prophet charging .

Never if you do the soft reset with the machine disconnected or using soft reset by software (Some programs run ok and anothers no, try)

Is the same with all the wm6 ROM's

3- i haven't had the 10 sec back light bug so far ! :)
4- 37 Mg free memory on Storage, 30 on Program.

Cons:

1- The Problem with WiFi is still there ! sometimes you can't enable the WiFi for no reason, you have to try twice!
2- There is a Vietnamese program installed, i don't remember the name cause i uninstall it , but it was something like pdavi-ATM Directory...
3-- X button settings are different. So if you want to get rid of the error that i mentioned below you have to change the settings to menu.
4- Today screen, doesn't get updated. you have to soft reset if you add something to your today screen or change the theme. as i said before this is caused by x button program.
5- the keyboard skin is ugly :) [ i liked the colorful keyboard skin in 4.0.0.3]
6- Some default items are pre added to menu and tray bar ( like battery status)
7- you can't assign the first two buttons to anything else. ( okay and start button )
8- there are still some minor bugs with phone app. sometimes it just freeze for no reason :(

I'm using 4.0.3 and no hangs for over 1 week and I suspect the sudden freeze of device might be caused by different setting of paging pool(8mb for 4.0.3)
For Live messenger, the latest version of CE star seems can solve the problem and may be you can give it a try

Everything seems to be working ok now, with this latest version. My S200 now enables Wi-Fi from the BatteryStatus icon which was the only thing it didn't do.

I timed my SIP switch and tapping the arrow took *12* seconds for the option to come up. I followed your steps and right after I finished importing the new CLSID, without even rebooting, I waited 10 seconds, tried tapping the arrow and the option box opened in less than 1 second...

This fix *has* to be stickied or added to the wiki.... This is one of the primary reasons why i hated all the AKU2.2+ Roms and the WM6 roms...

Well few days ago, I would totally agree with you. But I upgraded it to ...3a and re-installed (not all) my software applications. It seems quite OK so far, much better that ...3. But I am not sure the ...3 is bad because of installed applications. I bitched about the Windows Live, but you have to test it right after Hard Reset. After all softwares installed, its function went away so I knew it was something that I installed even all softwares I installed were tested and used in WM5. After some forum commrads suggestions, I started to look and finally managed to get Windows Live and VOIP working again. I don't know exactly your situation but I do think these ROM's are OK even with some bugs because many people are happy with various versions. I tried PDAMobiz 1.1i, everyone loved it and it was voted the most popular one but I moved from it to the Russian ROM, I struggle so much with it on the keypad and smartdialing and finally gave up and move to PDAViet 1.0 then 1.1. I was happy with 1.1 untill I ventured further into other versions and got myself all kind of trouble of missing called, Wifi not consistently turn on or off, worst of off, hung every couple hours or less. I can't tell what was the problem. WinCE just like it bigger sibbling Windows. It is best you install it clean and re-install all softwares. Any upgrade from previous version always lies a time bomb or some filth needed to dig out and cleanup. Windows (WinCE) is real pain on my butt but you can't live without them.

I have problem about 4.003a rom. The symbol at the top which is a connection type, it always shows on sync pattern after sync with Pc. When I clicks on it,it shows the message that no connection please press setting for choose...
When I turn on wifi, it works done but can't change to normal after turn it off. I think it may freeze on the last type of connection. My phone can't show on G/E symbol . Soft reset can help to clear this problem, it also shows on no connection.

4. Le wifi a des difficultés à démarrer mais cela va encore par contre même connecté et avec une adresse IP il refuse d’afficher les pages WEB

1. phon pad do not please remain in French after a software reset
2. the posting of page TODAY is not changed into real time, obliged to make a soft reset

I think is due to the batterystatus plug-in.

Go to today setting -> item -> batterystatus->options.->tools

check 'Show Today-screen on WakeUp.

You can do by adding cabinet/executive file into ext_rom folder and editing the config.txt. Example: you want to add Audio_Manager.cab,
- Add Audio_Manager.CAB into ext_rom folder
- Edit config.txt by add one line as follows: "CAB: \Extended_ROM\Audio_Manager.cab" - w/o quotation-marks, then Save As Unicode.

1. I have done that but the battery and the rotate screen icons are still shown and I also want to get rid of these icons. So I do not want to see anything in the tray.

The best is to follow EXACTLY what is in page 1 of the manual of this forum, upgrading from WM5 to WM6, especially hard resetting before doing step 1, and keep the device UNTOUCHED between step 1 and 2 (ignore the tap screen to start afte step 1); and also using the G3 program in the Step 1 files.

Followed this step, it went fine, but then while writing binery partitions, usb connection lost, and the message shown to hard reset device. When i reset device, it stops at first screen (showing the device info IPL, SPL, GSM, OS).
Nothing happens afterwards.

i had the same problem as rooks, and i do know how to upgrade my phone :) it was something on the PC end as using my other machine (of near identical hardware and software spec) sorted it. no i didnt touch the ppc after step one either ;) i think it was to do with activesync on my pc not seeing it as a guest despite me deleting all relationships.
Oh well works now just saying if you can try another pc first!

SOLUTION: downgrade with wm5 and use PPCPimBackup (new version: 1.9) in backing-up the contacts. Then upgrade wm6 again, use PPCPimbackup in restoring.

I don't think that there will be an OFFICIAL realease of wm6 for prophet....

i have one problem with WM6 roms...I can't recieve MMS....But i can send...if they fix this i will be very happy...

Sad, if there is not an official release coming, then what should i do. Bcoz this version of WM6 (PDAViet 4.0.0.0.4) is consuming battery very fast. Fully charged battery hardly takes 10 hours. While with WM5 it was taking almost 2 days. I think there's no solution for battery drain:(

Sad, if there is not an official release coming, then what should i do. Bcoz this version of WM6 (PDAViet 4.0.0.0.4) is consuming battery very fast. Fully charged battery hardly takes 10 hours. While with WM5 it was taking almost 2 days. I think there's no solution for battery drain:(

you can't fix it.Either you sync your contacts,apointments etc with your PC before upgrading and then resync with your phone,or backup up with PIMBackup and then restore.

And I said: RE-FLASH YOUR PHONE.... I had battery drain once with WM5..i asked in a forum,and someone told me to reflash it.I FOLLOWED HIS ADVICE and reflashed it... My prophet visits it's charger,every 3 days....:p

So it's good when using WM5. Because there's no battery problem.
I think there's some problem with WM6 Roms.

I'm talking about battery drain problem too.Stop use Battery Status (Scalling etc) - it give more battery power.Set 1min backlight not 2,like you wrote... and finally downgrade to WM5 if you like:D

There's problem with rom, i've confirmed.
4.0.0.0.4 is much slower than previous roms, and it has the battery drain problems. I think i need to switch back to 4.0.0.0.3 :( :(

I don't have any "wifi auto seach" problem from 4.0.0.0.1 to 4.0.0.0.4, it pop up and ask everytime if no connection yet. Did u installed some other wifi program?

The best to try is..... try it right after u fresh your rom without install any other programs.

I have a G3 and first downgraded to wm5 NVID, then to 4.0.0.4. After theis wifi is not working. I get nothing in the list and I even tried downgrading it to wm5 again, and then back to 4.0.0.3a. Nothing helped.

Guys, switch back to v3 ROM, if u have a G3, If u've got a G4, then no problem with v4. v4 is much slower on G3's, but much better at G4.

Wow I love this thing you guys are doing... It's gr8... Cloudyfa - Hats off to you... I've tried first .4 and then moved into 3a... since I thought .4 was kinda slow (but a looker!!). I've had coupla issues tho but been worked around...

1. Sometimes my phone on receiving a call would just vibrate and hang (on ring&vib setting) and I’ll loose the call. I’d reset the phone to get it running again - Work around - I used file explorer to set another ringtone (not the default as rings). Since 48 hrs I've not reseted my phone even once coz of this

2. One note is not happening... cant delete files - work around - use file explorer to go to application data/ one note and delete the file I used resco

This .3a ROM is FAST and now it’s stable 4 me ... Good going guys and Thanks a ton... God bless!!!

I have upgraded my rom to PDAviet 4.0.0.4pv and I can't seem to get the streaming or wmplayer to start up when I click on m.youtube video link, I have tried all sorts or registry change such as ...rai..mplayer to wmplayer and ...._root registry rtsp ... etc.. Am I doing something wrong?

HTC streaming player is installed and I can put in the rtsp path and it works, just need to start it auto from IE.

this is a known bug.I had it for 2 days,and then it stopped...!The only fix(if it doesn't stop)is to install batterystayus and select "device lock on wakeup" and "10s bug fix"

last night i had two really hard bugs, but i could fix only one of them:

1. i could enable wlan only one time. then to reenalbe it i had to do a soft-reset. i replaced the radio stack 2.47.xx with the 2.19.21 and until now the problem did not appear again.

2. i have no problem to configurate my gmail account. but every time, i send & revice, the new mail will be saved but the older mails in the incoming folder get completly deleted! and when i send & revice again (no new mails) this new mails get deleted, too. what i can i do against this?
i downloaded all html messages completly and they get deleted. then i tried to download the headers only, and this headers survice a send&revice. but after i downloaded their contect, they also get deleted during the next send & revice.

what can i do against this mail bug?

edit: annoying workaround: i just have to move all new mails into an other folder like "saved mails". there they are really saved.

I have upgraded to this rom 4.0.0.4 and sometimes the battery won't charge from the main power adapter, it shows it is plug into the main and next morning the barttey life is the same, but I can plug it into the USB PC and charge it and other times it will charge from the mains, anybody have this problem and is there a fix.

It could be dangerous if my battery is completely flat and I can't charge it up to start it.

I've upgraded from 4.0.0.0.3 to 4.0.0.0.5. I think it's faster & more stable than 4.0.0.0.3 (except the memory is less, due to 12mb pool). I haven't had any notify settings & backlight issue.
I think you better try the latest version. :)

I never run in to that problem, my device charges in all ways it's ment to. Did you downgraded an hard reset between flashes? Otherwise it could be that a faulty driver or registry entry remains active.

I like the clock app on the home page, if it had battery status it would be even better. Is this something that can be installed seperately or on WM5?

I'm trying to get this build to work with exchange server. It seems to work but the sync never syncs, I've tried setting logging to verbose but cannot find the log file!

Any thoughts?

No, it isn't. There is not any WM-6 ROM in Dutch, but I have dutch inputfiles (you know wordsuggestion an correction when typing an SMS) If you like it, after you've flashed to WM6 let me know.
