Hi.

I just got my MDA Compact III, which is Sim-locked by the Dutch T-mobile.

1. I was wondering if anyone managed to Sim-unlock such a device, and how.
(I found some threads, but I'm not really sure anyone really succeeded)
2. Does SIM-unlocking remove guarantee/warranty (how do you call this in English...)?

Thanks for all help!

Hi,

You can unlock your device through imei-check.co.uk. This will cost you aprox. 20 euros.
The device will be sim-unlocked and cid-unlocked.

This will violate your warranty and there's no Dutch T-mobile rom available.

Regards,
Raymond

Hi Raymond,

Thanks for your reply!

Did you really have experienced any warranty problems after sim-unlocking? I heard that most of the time you can still use the repair-option included in the 2-year warranty.

Is the sim-lock again applied after a repair/firmware update? And could you use the sim-unlock tool from imei-check.co.uk again?

Greetings!

If the IMEI number did not change, because they had to replace the mainboard of your phone or something, then there will be no problem to unlock your phone again if you still have the .unl file.
