There is no rom which you can call the best.. They all have pros and cons, and some have same bugs and some have some different bugs.. Try them out and find the one you think is the best for you.. :)

Personally I like Fantastic Mobiz v1.1i the most. I used for a while, but after the new releases, I tried those. I want to go back to v1.1i again, but I cannot download it successfully. Does someone have a mirror (in one file)? TIA.

I'm a newbie, sorry for my questions and my poor english. I've already read the wiki, and read in forums a lot.My queston is: are these wm6 roms both for G3 and G4 models? :confused: How do I know if a rom is for G3 or G4 if it is not written on it?? (I don't really want to brick my phone) I've cid unlocked my G3 device (as it was written in the wiki) Now ipl is 2.09, spl 2.20.0000 and, the old rom becouse of the cid unlock (14409.1.1.2) and the original qtek extended rom. Do I have to do something with my extended rom (clear or uppgrade or delete?..) before flashing a wm6 rom, or just do the things what is written in the wm5->wm6 wiki? :confused: I'm looking forward to your answers, couse I couldn't get more information on the net, altought Im sitting here almost for three days:)

I'm a newbie as well :) , I have a G3 Imate JAMin, which i've upgraded to PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6, I've had a couple of issues since installing it, but I see a ton of people on this forum that show they have G3 device with this ROM and don't appear to be experiencing the same problems... I will say this, the PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6 is pretty awesome... TouchFLO is kewl, A2DP already built in and setup, Photo Contacts, External GPS automatically showing in Connections tab, keeps memory pretty free and clear and a whole lot of other cool stuff... For this, I really like it and there's NO WAY I would go back to my old JAMin WWE ROM downloaded from the Imate site...
The above having been said, I've had a couple of problems that pissed me off..

1. After following the WM5 -> WM6 Upgrade Guide, I received the Congratulations! screen and did a hard reset... After installing a couple of programs and setting up my Owner Info, Device ID, etc., I setup a PIN and locked phone... When I tried unlocking the phone it kept saying that the PIN i entered was incorrect, when I know that what I entered was the same pin that I setup... I had to do another hard reset and lost everything... ARGGHHH!

2. After doing the Hard Reset in (1.) above, which meant losing all the installed programs and the browser settings, etc. , I decided I was not going to get "fooled again" so to speak, so I setup the device, but made sure not to use a password, which worries me if my phone ever gets into "the wrong hands," but then I figured I don't have the SD card encrypted anyway, and that has a bunch of sensitive files on it, so I'd be screwed anyway and I figure i can live without locking my phone (however if any other readers out there know why this happened and can advise me on how to avoid it that would be gr8)... So, I logged onto a different computer than I originally had set a partnership with my device with, I downloaded ActiveSync 4.5 from Microsoft, and I attempted to sync the device via bluetooth... I had a program called BlueSoleil (trial version) installed on my computer which found my PDA, I connected it allowing serial port and i forget what the second service was, but anyway... After several attempts to sync the device over bluetooth, by creating outgoing ports, by choosing different incoming ports on both the desktop and PPC I gave up... A short while later I noticed that my devices battery had dropped to about 40% or so... Soon after that it was even lower and the screen stopped responding... I tried a Soft reset, nothing happened... Finally after hitting just about every button and praying, I did a hard reset and lost all my data again...

So, now if I'm not leaving anything out I'm on my third go around, I've put nice little pictures of friends and family on my HTC TouchFLO contact list, my browser settings are all up and running, i've reloaded the programs and serial numbers, and everything is going well, mind you it's been approximately 24 hours... I don't expect it to continue going well, and I hope that I can find this thread again to give an update... But in any case, I want to hear about other peoples experience and I'll try to check back here to see if anyone knows why I've had the problems mentioned in this posting...

Which kinda sucks, because I really like the HTC Homepage plugin... It's got weather on it quick access to calling favorite contacts, etc. The TOUCHFlo gets you most of these things too, but the Homepage plugin is right there... Kinda sucks..

So those are my gripes, the PIN thing and the freeze on bootup... Is anyone out there working on FIXES to these issues?

Please stop asking to everybody for what you want, the cooker just want to share their works for free, so if you do not like it, just do not use it.
It is so Simple. Other wise please ask the cooker to cook the WM6 with your requirement and then make some donation to them.

Thanks for great work on PDAVIET WM6, but there are 3 problems noticed by me:
1. The last version 4.0.0.0.5a is giving me error in the installation (can not update ItsUtils.dll)
2. All the versions until 4.0.0.0.4SSE have a problem with connecting to GPRS.
First time is working fine, but after you disconnect from GPRS, talk on the phone, do other things with the phone and try to connect again is not working. You need to restart the phone and is fine.
3. The phone pad of version 4.0.0.0.4SSE doesn't show the last call.

Hi all,
Since WM2003SE on the HTC Alpine, I've always removed today screen items before resetting to avoid all sorts of problems cause by lack of system resources on startup. In WM5/WM6 I only ever reset using the stylus when the phone completely freezes and never soft reset with 3rd party softwares. Cheers,

I'm using PDAViet 4.0.0.0.6 Touch (I had some mmc card issues with Prophet touch VII).
What's the WM6 Rom with the smaller battery drain? The touch cube and other eye candy stuff are kind of cool, but my next step is to go further than 3 days with one battery charge. :D

Quite a n00b in this area, heheh), and it keeps crashing on me - Outlook won't start (i.e. nothing happens when I hit try to open my contacts or calendar), or the whole thing just freezes up and I have to remove the battery to get the phone to do anything at all...

I'm looking for something fast and reliable, that'll actually let me use my Prophet as a phone instead of locking up every time I try to call someone ;)... Even though Transformer is oh so pretty :(...

Looks like you have forgotten to hard reset efter you have flashed the rom ? Transformer is one of the most stable roms i have tried.. But try Crystal V2 it is also very stable.. :)

Go for EVO8en ( for prophet)

very simple steps!!!

1. download : http://v-dog.net/XDA/EVO8en_2in1.rar ( link EXTENDED to end of NOV, 2007),

2. activesync connected and then *** FLASH PVtemp (to downgrade) FIRST *** MUST DO !!,

3. wait for finish and WAIT FOR RECONNECT AUTOMATICALLY, touch NOTHING on the device and continue step 4.

4. UNZIP the downloaded EVO8en.2in1.rar and JUST ONLY double click the "EVO8.1.part1.exe",

5. follow the on-PC-screen instruction to press for " 3 " on the keyboard then WAIT for about 9 ~ 20 minutes,

6. FINISHED??? Hardreset by keep pressing the Camera+CommManager and
one shoot at the softreset butt( don't keep picking , just once)
keep the two fingers hold until a message comes up on the prophet screen,

and then press the green phone button once or twice or three time
(if the screen has no reaction, then you may need to press for more than 1 time),
wait for reboot,

7. after " next " all initial screens, and after all simple settings, after some minutes playing with it,
an OPTIONAL act to a restore-to-factory is recommended.
( noise feedback that .... SEEMS to be more smooth, just OPTIONAL)

8. ENJOY!!!! ( remarks: NEVER FORGET to turn off the wifi before resetting the prophet, OR you need to reset again and again to re-activation the wifi connection.)

Nope, I definitely hard-resetted... I'm downloading Evo8 right now, let's see how that is.

but now cannot find the official rom from HTC for WM6 for the prophet; is ths becusae there is no official rom..?

There is no rom which you can call the best.. They all have pros and cons, and some have same bugs and some have some different bugs.. Try them out and find the one you think is the best for you.. :)


Yes, there isnt rom which you can call the best.
But where can I found Names (and downloads) of roms AND small info about it (pros, cons, bugs etc.) - I mean in one site, page or thema.

Becasue in here are links for download (thanks you, its really good) but dont desriptions about roms. (Then I can choose the best - for me :-) )

since i suppose you're italian (and me too) i hope my previous experience with prophet (qtek s200) can be useful for you.

after some tries i have reported on a text file my experience just to have a log that should be useful to the community in the late...

i have tested Prophet_PViet and PV_4.0.0.0.6_Touch and I prefer the second one since it has the cube (touchflo) :P

anyway, for my experience, the once with the extRom folder inside and making the installation through console are working on italian version of qtek (since the IPL is different from the one supposed in gullum and others).


------------ INSTRUCTIONS ------------------------

BEFORE STARTING YOU NEED:

a) http://tom-love.net/Rom/Prophet/WM6.0/Prophet_PV_Temp.zip
this will be usefull for restoring from any accident.
refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308755
for any detail (e.g. the password for extracting file)

b) battery charged


INSTALLATION STEPS:

1) check your IPL at boot time
IPL 2.20 or 2.20.0000 are for G3
IPL 2.20.0001 are for G4

2) if you have an IPL version lower than 2.20 refer to

3) download the OS Image to install (e.g. PDAViet)

4) go to into the folder from the CONSOLE (not from explorer view BUT FROM CONSOLE!!!)
and run upgrade_rom.bat

5) IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG (cannot copy itsutils.dll)
execute on your pda "EnableRapi" and "Cert_SPCS"
you'll find these files in the main PDA_Viet
(or other distribution) directory

6) retry to run upgrade_rom.bat



IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

a) Your display is just showing 3 colors (Red, Yellow and Green - or something like that)

a.1) download Prophet_PV_Temp and run the .exe file (G3 or G4 depending on your model)
a.2) your system will be downgraded to 2.20.7.34 (EN version)

ops, sorry i left the real answer to your question.
at the beginning i just tried with TouchX ITA since i appreciated the promising exe doing the dirt job for you.
but for my IPL it was not working since i was not able to put the CID free one.
if your IPL is 2.09 or 2.20 i discourage you to use the ITA auto-installer.

otherwise if everything goes ok to you... please send me your steps...

I don't think so. I think the XDA stealth is not made by HTC and so it is unlikely this site will have ROMs for it.

you are right it IS confusing!
But imho there is no way to descibe pros and cons. All these ROMs are compiled by Prophet users that are using their phone in very different ways. What is pro for one, can easily be con for somebody else.

Ofcourse one ROM is technical more advanced then another and some are more bugfree. But that is all described in the dedicated threads. So take your time. look at the first post of those threads, in common there are some screenshots posted. If you like what you see, you better read the thread. It is timeconsuming, but it will give you a good image of the experimences of others.
