Hi upgraded to wm6 (T-mobile MDA compact III) and the battery life was very short. I had lost about 50% in4 hours. Anyone else experiencing this?

I have batteryStatus installed and noticed that my CPU never dropped below about 30% which I thought was weird.

Anyway was fiddling and unhid the extended ROM suddenly my CPU went back down to 1-4% when the device wasn't doing anything, not sure why this would be.

Is this a coincidence?

Has anyone noticed there CPU's running high when the device isn't really doing anything?

Maybe my battery will last a bit longer now the CPU isn't so active.

Cheers

Matt

I can confirm, that my battery life is down to about 50% of the time that I had on wm5...
Don't haver a program installed to see the cpu usage, but the battery time is definetly shorter...

i have the same problem with my XDA Orbit, cpu usage around 70-90 % battery life 1,5 days ( on WM5 3 days) hmm

Try this reg hack and see if your CPU drops, mine did - have no idea why????

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000000

Will test over weekend and see if the CPU running normally improves the battery life

I upgraded my P3300 to WM6 and batterylife seems OK, if not even better compared to what I had when WiFi is ON. Also using BatteryStatus.

Vielen Dank!

Where do you have this info from?

I just noticed that after doing this reg hack my CPU usage dropped from 30% to 1-3%. Nothing scientific just an observation.

However I think that perhaps something went wrong in my original flashing of the device.

After a complete rebuild (reflashing as a hard reset wasn't enough gave the same results) my CPU was running normally. If this device is anything like my old wizard it may take a few days for the battery life to settle down so the jury is out on that till at least a few more days.
I am encouraged to hear that other users are getting good battery life out of their phones.

for me it also seems to work very well. Thanks a lot for this very useful info!

Day one

I've just made the register change and the CPU average is 2% in ActSync connection on.

While using it, seems that the CPU recovory is improved.

Will continue to update this post.

just to have it somewhere for all that do change this setting:
the settings where:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001

the DWORD values are to be 0 or 1?

Now I am confused !!!

This thread was started a while ago after I upgraded to a very early version of WM6

Since using any of the more recent roms on this forum I haven't noticed any battery issues.
I'm currently using meschle's 2.1 and find the battery life to be excellent.

My advice to anyone experiencing problems is to give their phone a few days to settle down, as I think it takes a while for the smartphone to learn the battery capacity.

So as far as i understand... you suggest not to change registry values mentioned above. Am i right?

do you think 2.11 lite will have less drain?

ive got 2.1 full and definately notice extra drainage - not 50% but noticable

This registry hack was always based on a specific problem with an early ROM.

This problem was that the cpu was running constantly at about 30%. I think now it may have been related to a series of problems surrounding the fact that the extended ROM was missing.

All the problems surrounding this have been fixed and personally I haven't seen this happen with any current ROM I've tried.

Making this change wont do you any harm but might not make a difference.

I know the mechle has spent a lot of time trying to produce a stable ROM that has minimal battery drain.

When switching to wm6 I did spend a while tracking my battery life.
To be honest the more I watched the battery the quicker it seemed to go down.

Try hiding battery status for a week, charge you phone regularly and see what happens.

If it really is dropping fast you may need to try a re-flash.
