Hey Faria, did you change your default theme...i flashed from black Dymond and just wanted to make sure it has the same theme on purpose.

didn't see it listed yet, but some changes found so far

It also happend when I played around with the Media Player plugin and switched between applications.

mmmm take care about the delay related to SD access... slow than internal storage... where do you install your apps? I've used GPRSMonitor and works fine for me... Take a look for the issues if they are related to delay in access to SD...

I did how ever manage to put my exchange settings in..it would sync once but never again. the internet connection was fine how ever. anyone else getting that active sync error? i tried 2 hard resets and a reflash...but still the same error. dont ask me what the error was...i was too frustrated to pay attention.

Works fine for me, i've tested the sync to my exchange server trough the PC (with Vista) connecting the USB and connecting trough BT, and both works...

And of course works trough GPRS/3G...

Just installed ... and all is working fine here... the "E" icon works, and the ugly 3G icon is there as well.

The "disable proxy on WIFI" option in battery status did not seem to work for me to turn off the cingular proxy settings, but I did get my wifi up and running once I just switched from Medianet to another (non-proxy) connection setting.

but i just noticed something...when i launch the com manger and click on the active sync there...i comes right up without the error. but when i go into the mobile office directory and lauch active sync from there....i get the error. so im doing another hard reset now to see if i can truly launch it from the com manager with no issues.

Yes, i understand what you say, but data is accesed for apps, so the delay is there... when you open Windows Media Player and plays one MP3 from the SD... try same app with data in internal and compare results...

Other recommendation, defragment the SD...

So I did a defragmentation and also cleaned my card a bit up.
Removed all today plugins except the calendar.

Now Media Player added my music files to the library and the device doesn't hang so long any more at startup. Maybe it was my birthday plugin. I think the search for dates in my contacts needs so much time... I should search for another solution remember that stuff ^^

I didnt see anyone mention that they were still getting the "connecting to ....." bubble every 2 minutes or so. Has that been resolved as well?

hmmm...one of two things....make sure your conection is set to "always on" in gb-soft tweak..and htc custom as well....

ooor...back in gbsoft tweak....make sure "show disconnect button in bubble" and the one under that are unchecked. lets see what happens then.

There's only one thing that stops Faria's ROM being perfect - and that's the American accent on the Voice! Believe it or not, I paid £25 ages ago just to get the English version when I'd already got the American one because I hated the accent so much (this is not a dig at ALL Americans or anything, it's just that one voice)! There are loads of files in the CAB, does anyone know which one/ones would need to be swapped for the ROM ones to get my English girl back?

Also, a few people have mentioned adding/removing from Faria's ROM. Which program are you doing this with as there are several listed in the Wiki and I don't know which one to start working my way around. Thanks.

I have serious problems with stability. I did a hard reset (played to mutch with the rom I think) and deactivated all today plugins except HTC Media Player, Calendar, Battery

In HTC Custom I set the small scroll bars, timer for connection and the date/time format on both.

Then I play a bit. Set the screen font to a smaller one with the standard tool in settings. Use the media player. close it. watch the memory. close it. watch the programs. close it. crash. maybe I forgot a point. After all that means after working a while the device freezes.

I deactivated now all today plugins except calendar. No extra software is installed....

MS VC 1.6 did not route the audio to the headset until I applied the BT patches/reg tweaks.

I'm wondering what patches/tweaks you used? I've tried VC1.6BTfix.CAB provided by ZaJules which works on all the other WM6 rom's I've been using, but it doesn't work here. At least for me...

Has anyone else had success with vc & bluetooth on this rom?

I've just came back from a bad cold. I've been using Faria V1 since the first day it's released. I also used every other ROMs cooked here by other Chefs. My opinion is the latest Dutty's version 2 and Faria's version 1 and the latest Custel's are at the top rank. I also use the old Black v 3.0.1 and LVSW before. Quite good too. I think,the most stable as per my use today is Dutty's v2 and Faria's v1. Now I'm donwloading Faria's v2 to see the enhancements. Experience cook will give us a better one everytime. Congrats to them all.

Been testing for a few hours. The connection problem is gone. Very fast. Not as fast a v1. I think the 6mb page pool is prob it. I am really starting to link this cook. Faria you Rock. Love to get a lite version with all the apps as cabs. Thanks for the hard work.

it looks like a sd card power management issue...desabling sd power management may fix it.

Ok I know this is a long rant and probably not the right place to post it but since you're talking about it ;)

Everybody always says it is related to the SD Card but in my case it has absolutely nothing to do with that. I have the cheap 2gb card that everybody blames and the phone works flawlessly with it in. The issue seems to be connected to the WIFI on my phone (and several other people have confirmed this as well). If I have the WIFI on, the phone is prone to freezing - especially after it's been connected to the computer. To the best I can tell, the phone disables wifi while connected to the computer but then something funky happens when I disconnect - it doesn't quite set the wifi back up right or something. The wifi does work but watching the screen under a light (because the backlight is off) it seems 2 seconds before the phone powers down, it tries to reconnect to the AP and when that happens, the phone is down - have to reset it. Other then that it spuratically freezes when the wifi is on. If I put the phone in standbye with the power button, it almost never freezes.

Also if I leave the wifi off, it NEVER freezes. Reguardless of if the SD card is in or not. This has nothing to do with the SD Card - and everything to do with the wifi (at least in my case a couple others who have written me). Before I just flashed your rom, my phone has run for a month with the same rom and that cheap sd card installed without being reset once. I just have to turn on the WIFI when I need it and shut if off when I dont.

Hopefully this will help somebody smarter then me figure out whats going on here.

Ah there is a trade off. Before I could use a cab and get audio feedback thru my headset but never get call announcemnets to come thru the phone. Now my callers are announced via phone speakers but I can't get the audio feedback thru the headset(call so and so on mobile phone). Once that is done it is almost the old voice command we know and love.

did a search, either I am useless at searcing or nobody else has this problem :(
ever since I installed Faria V2, I am often getting wifi problems.
there are 2 access points that I commonly use.

on access point one - 128 bit WEP, I click connect,enter my key, wait for about 30 seconds of trying to connect, then it says "incorrect network key" and asks me to enter the wep key again. I try this about 6 times and it finally connects and I have internet. if I turn wifi off and back on it tries to connect to the wifi again and fails with "incorrect network key" again.
I noticed that if I look at the advanced tab in "Wireless lan" it gets a 169.254 ip addy right before disconnecting and giving me the error. (not sure if related at all)

on wifi point two - WPA I connect, it works fine, but after a few mins of browsing, etc, it will give me the "incorrect network key", I reenter the key and I have another few mins of internet. in case it is relevant, the WPA key renewal is set to 1 hour on my access point.

in case it is relevant I have radio rom 1.41.00.10

anyone having similar issues with wifi??

Yes, seems the link in Office folder is wrong...

Faria, can you take a llok at this, the link must point to async.asy instead to replog.exe... subst in the link and works ok...

Dno trouble...but i have changed several files in the rom because of the goddam E icon since the firtst test....and it is confirmed new buids do not support the E icon!

now i got 2 new roms to post...the customized and a super clean..later today...we are looking at 64mb of free storage in the supper clean....and very fast.ram is 30mb free with 6mb page pool.

then im moving to a new OS Build,and oem.

its also know that windows live cause crashes.due to the amout of resources it requires.

Hi Faria, again thanks for the great work, just I find some problems in the V2:
I have install SPB time, SPB diary, and SPB shell, WM5TORAGE!!!, I already soft reset four times because will don’t come out of sleep after pressing the power button, the dialler in your previous version it was just complete because it was working in combination with the CALL HISTORY ,meaning when I was pressing the soft buttons with the open dialler to scroll to the call history use to jump to the normal call history or when I scroll with the wheel, use to stay in inside the dialler call history, what I find it was very useful specially if one is driving ,I also experience when I change the screen theme, I have to soft reset to do this , and the most important app is WM5TORAGE, it was working 50% in your previous rom I said this because some times I have to soft reset to go in to the app telling me that, the storage card is use buy another programme. Are you using the storage card in the background ? I’m asking you this because in all of the previous WM6 roms never happen, including even the modify ones, but now it does not work, it is showing an empty folder. I hope you have time to look on this small problems, and thanks for your hard work. You are the BOSS.

I have extracted the MUI for the skin keyboard from Black, and repack in on CAB too (named Black keyboard skin) , but i haven't tested, so if you test, please report it here...

Wearing out my battery also. I even made sure I let the battery drain to nothing and then recharged while off. Maybe the newer one will prove better if not I guess I will stay close to a plug.

Been running for more than 24 with little issues. Had one sleep of death issue but i think that was my fault not the ROM. Pretty fast but not as fast a V1. I think i liked the 6mb page pool better.

okay so i seet my mail2web up...everything seems fine. but i noticed it does not say connected like it should. when i reset the phone i have to hit sync for it to connect....after that it seems to run fine for a while. but a few minutes later, when i check active sync it is not connected. my gprs settings in GB-soft tweak are set to "gprs always on"

and in HTCustom the connection always on tab is checked and cingular gprs is selected.

it also does it after phone calls...before when i end a phone call activesync would automaticly connect to the mail2web server right away...not it does not...i have to manually hit sync :(

any thoughts?

unzip the attached file,copy to the device and import with the registry editor,power down the device,wait 30 seconds and reset...check IE.

I am using this new ROM with Goodlink ... a form of push-email, but not using activesync. Everything seems to be running fine (at least for the first 12 hours of use).

Just installed and so far my push email works fine.

Huge problem for me though is MS VC will not work with my Jabra BT8010. Not even with all the hacks that use to work. It won't even route phone sounds to the headset.

Obviously I know this isn't your fault faria but I just thought I would let ppl know. I must have a working vc with my headset or my phone is useless to me. Thats really too bad though because I really like the extras of this ROM.

Maybe I'll get lucky and it will work at a later date but until then I'll have to go with something based off LSVW so MS VC works with my headset..

I'm using your rom for 24h now and it's really nice, but a little unstable.
-Push mail is working fine, no problems, only the configuration of the exchange, had to be through PC(act. Sync);
- Major Problems:
-Lock ups,
-fade away screen, (need on/off or soft reset to get it back)
-slow performance, (tried several combinations w/ shadowmite tweaks ended up w/ Glyph cache-32768;fats cache 4096 and file sys. 4096.
- today plugin's seem to heat up to much memory, now using:
.battery Status (reduced to minimum bat stats, cpu speed and Tyray icons);
.messages ms$;
.date & time;
.Win Live;
.SPB Weather;
.WP plug in

but the most annoying thing is the fade away screen, anny comments.

Well, here goes my little feedback...

First of all, i'm testing the ROM with 2Mb pagepool, and seems as quickly and stable as with default.

I have flashed and restore all my apps and data... sync with my Exchange 2003SP2 fine, and push mail works fine for me using GPRS/3G Orange Spain.

Apps works well, no probs with normal use, mail, excel, word, PhotoContacts, etc...

Some times stays in the first splash screen and must soft-reset to get boot (this makes me two times today, don't know if is related to pagepool).

Great ROM, many ussefull apps :)

Voip button seems to be useless in com manager; maybe consider removing it. I do not know if it may interest you; but I found (in my opinion) a very sweet com manager in trinity section:

Did not had any trouble to wake it up (I have v1 setuped for about 2 hours only so far). I don't think that WM5Storage has any future; nowaday WM devices are recognised out of the box by windows vista; what makes the use of such apps futile.

Have had freezes mainly going from profile to landscape and vice verse).
General speed really varies!
Most the time its very quick ( I used JJ's black 'buzzing'?).... but sometimes it gets bogged down.

The next OS after vista is in the future there are plenty of folks in this forum using vista. Most people on forum are forward thinkers so they get the latest and greatest. Vista would be the latest tho the greatest would be a strecth. I have vista and only use it for WMDC with my 8525 and use XP to cahnge ROMs and Radios.

People here dealing with WM6 just wants to have what is brand new; and I am pretty sure that most of the WM6 users are also Vista users. WM6 was designed by Microsoft to works best with Vista, Exchange 2007 & Office 2007; that is the point. To get the most of your device you have to get all of those.

Excellent ROM faria. U always do good work. Was using your ROMs exclusively when I had my wizard. Just got my 8525 last month and was ecstatic when I saw you had created a ROM for it. It work good it's the first ROM that I used with MS VC that actually announced the call (this is the only reason I opted for the customized ROM. If I knew how to get that working myself i would use the super clean).

I am having two issues though that i hope that I can get resolved as I would love to keep this ROM.

1. activesync disconnects and does not connect again anytime the phone does a data transfer. Have to reboot my PC to get reconnected.
2 My bluetooth connection drops randomly with my Logitech Mobile Traveler. I then have to turn bluetooth of then back on, very difficult while driving.

Strange. My BT headset works fine, confirmation go through headset too. Only minor issue is that the headset button does not start VC, have to use PTT button.

Yes, I do understand your point, about WM6 and we must stick to it, brilliant; What about when you are going to transport files to a computer that hasn’t have Vista and also the computer's owner it is not member of this forum of has got a normal and unintelligent cell phone?, just use the computer for word and emails.WM5torage work in any other rom posted in this forum, using this app I find also that the storage card is used by some apps. in the background by Faria’s rom; doesn’t happen these with any other previous WM6 roms.

The reaction of the device is sometimes very slowly. Sometimes it is not possible to make a phone call.
I have more problems if the today media plugin and the battery plugin are running. It is soo bad, that I have to move back to another ROM.

Removing these two today plugins gives better results, but not good enough.

a) while in Vista you can by default "browse" the device in Explorer (much like you did in XP with ActiveSync), it's not a "true" disk drive, not even network disk - you can not map it do drive letter, and most programs can not use files from it directly. For example, if you will want to play file from it with MediaPlayer, the file still will need to be fully copied in the temp dir to PC first.

b) it won't work with ReadyBoost.

i tested the costum v1. My results the rom are very fine and its working very well, but I find an issue with the battery status tool, the problem is, then the tool is enabled i have a lot of displayfreezes 2 - 3 times a day, now i disabled battery status and now i doesn't have any displayfreezes.

I was able to find the secret by searching the forum. A recent post explained that the reg had to be changed.

Can't connect to skype using cingular settings.

The error I get is unable to connect to internet. Check the network settings. I tried enabling and disabling the proxy and that didn't help. BTW, meantime I was able to connect to remote web sites. Are some of the outgoing ip ports closed on this rom?

My apologies. It looks like my workstation's proxy settings got picked up at the time of the sync. Everything is fine.

the carrier settings for romanina I supose they are called ROMANIA NET1... that is the only option with Romania in it... anyway I tried to aply and it does not work... I have all the seetings that are nedeed but i do not know how to make the cab file...


as for the ROM... the first look was... o boy! super OS... but as i went through the menus it seems that it moves a little bit slower than the older ROM i had, dutty v.2... anyway I'll do more testing....

you should flash it and get back to us, i just flashed elf's agian and have a version of 3.5 to try it would probably be mon. before i could post anything about it but im sure its just a little lighter than v1. let us know

ZaJules here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296762&page=2) gives the procedure. I modified his cab with the corrected reg setting. All credit goes to him.

A search found this info but I'm strangley in a good mood.

After reviewing the original cab and the one you posted, I can't find anything different. I am curious on what you changed from the original cab. And you are right the procedure been around for while. it worked for me on the previous ROM until this one.

I was able to find the secret by searching the forum. A recent post explained that the reg had to be changed.

You'll get it...I did and am happy again.

Yes I know secret on searching, I use it everyday. I have not seen any recent posts explaining why it does not work on this specific ROM. You will think it would have been on this thread.

I know another a little secret, it works for you.

try hardreseting the device or reflashing the rom from the boot loader screen, if it doesnt work try another rom if you still have the problem let us know or pm me and i could give you a few more suggestions. i have noticed that not all of my information was lost after flashing eg. the date and time were still acurate so maybe you had a password that you forgot about or something. try that and let us know it that works

Hi,

I love Faria's customized ROM but I have a the problem that I can't set the default SIP to "Resco Keyboard Pro". I already used the "SIPChange" utility to change the default SIP to Resco but it said that Resco is already the default SIP (I also activated the checkbox "default input method" in Resco's options) but it doesn't help.

After every soft reset my default SIP reverts to "Keyboard". I assume that it's some startup utility or Registry Tweak but I haven't found it yet. Can anybody tell me how to disable this Tweak so that the default SIP is read from the registry instead of beeing overridden by the tweak?

Honestly, i'm using another ROM right now (cause there i got the Portuguese Language), but on that ROM car charger does not work. Can you explain, how ou did it to work on your Rom's, or supply a .cab?

Having trouble getting voice command to execute after pushing the headset button. I installed ZaJules' package and I followed the directions to the letter. When I press the headset button, I get the usual headset activation beep and I can hear the usual background noise but the Voice Command ding never comes up.

I've tried hard resetting several times with no luck. Can anyone shed some light on this?

So I installed an older version of VoiceCommand 1.6 and redid all of the steps and I've got it working. I guess there must be some incompatibility with the xsdcm patch and the newer VoiceCommand files.

Same here! Would love to use the clean version.. Most of the stuff that I use, I install separately anyways. but LOVE Voice Command.. so can't get away from Customized V1 rom :) Awesome job Throughout!

First of all this is a great ROM. My first custom TyTn ROM, but I have been a long fan of Faria ROM's on my Wizard, so using a Faria ROM would be my default :)

The main problem that is bugging me is that I cannot navigate between emails using the arrows or the dpad, but only by touching the screens. The controls work very well inside the emails but not navigating between them. Does this happen to anyone else?

I don't have much installed except for what comes on the ROM, and I do get freezes once in a while, and I pinpointed it to a couple of specific tasks that get it to freeze:
1. Browsing in IE, after the third or fourth page it happens
2. When trying to save an attachment from outlook (i use exchange push) it gets stuck

Except for that it works well.

your new so I'll be nice that's how it works with that reg setting. some stick some don't that one don't use a tweak app to set it on all the time google HTweakc 2.1b

i guess i got the same problem here (just what happened in black shadow too..) for a while my sms send and receive worked fine.. but after and hour or two.. i cant send and receive sms... anyone got a solution for this issue? :(

You can try setting the wireless network as Hidden Network on your device, this allowed me to connect to my work network even though it's not a hidden network.

Faria I have been using your Wizard ROM's for some time now and just upgraded to a Hermes due to finances resitricting on anything futher. Flashed three ROMs and then saw your name on another Post as the cook. It was downloaded and installed immediately, and I must say once again - U DA MAN!!!!!!!!!! Love your work brother.

1. Active sync launches on the background and eating up memmory.
2. WiFi Issues (many posted besides me)
3. Battery life terrible. (Some other roms it MUCH better)
4. Memmory licking like CRAZY!

As for 1-3, go figure......... #4 however is interesting....... Memmory(maybe memory) "Licking" like CRAZY............... The chick I drug home last night was "LICKING" like CRAZY.....................and it' didn't bother me in the least.....................muhahahahahahahaha!!!!!! !!!
