This is a test rom not a final product….recommended you have a good understanding of window mobile/hermes….the purpose of this release is to publicly test and fix…if needed.
Recommended that your device be supercid….or use the sspl option.
This rom has a real extended-rom….but it has been patched …so you should be able to install the extended rom in a CID locked device using the sspl option…

Carrier settings for these countries….
United kingdom, US-Cingular only. Portugal, France, Germany. Italy, Spain, Finland, Switzerland , Sweden, Luxembourg, Austria, Netherlands, Romania, south-Africa, Asia.

Orange UK settings will also install voice mail notification hack
Please note;
Carriers setting setup will appear after the extended rom runs ,scroll down to chose your carrier., then press OK twice….if you carrier is not there untick the box and press ok…you can also run the carriers setting from the accessories folder…this comes handy when you need to change carrier settings while traveling or changing sim card.
Some carriers settings are installed as a exe…then you have to chose your own after the device reboots from program files.
Some carrier setting my be incorrect or missing…its up to you to let me know or post the correct cab file.

fantastic love the auto network configuration at start remind of the universal rom uprades.

This is the first rom i have install that i think i dont need to install any 3rd party softwares. Its got all that i need except sktools.

I will test this rom FARIA and report back any bugs if i do find any.

it is supposed to show the G or E icon only when you are getting these signals,it auto-switches ,at least in mine...i dont think it works diferently in the US.

im my rom you will only see 1 icon at the time...big one when desconected and a small one when a data conection is active.
if you not getting the edge icon it is because your device is using 3g . just tested and the E came after awhile in 3g

I had this problem before when flashing CUSTEL 2.5.
I don't know why but the "E" icon came back after re-flash Radio (1.40). I'm on US-T-mob.

I'm syncing over the air with Exchange 2K3 SP1.

only downside is i only have 20 available ram but i think its all the start up programs but phone has been very responsive.

I used coreplay to play a movie. Without the patch the screen becomes fuzzy and unreadable when the film is running through the ATI Imageon driver. In order to be able to watch a film I have to select Directdraw as Video output and tick "Use blitting instead of overlay"

With the patch it is possible to see the film flawlessly with the ATI Imageon driver (acceleration still needs to be disabled; but this issue has not been fixed so far). I made a couple of benchmark, and it seems that ATI Radeon (without acceleration) is slightly faster than DirectDraw

This happens when you enable the IE navigation hack. Just disable it, and emails will open normally.

Sadly, I think I noticed a bug/conflicting feature: in the phone app, when I use the D-pad it lt fire various apps (contact, poutlook, ...). I cannot select through the dpad the contact I want to call, I also deny me to change the type of number to call (home, work, ...).

EDIT: I found the cullpit, it is smartkeys that produce this behaviour. I ll find my way to have it removed

I found another known, slightly issue: when you select calendar with softkey changer it will open the month view and the only way to change this behaviour is to edit the softkey through the registry.

Most of the time I don't use that app; but I allready fired it up accidentaly; and it is quite annoying to use the registry to have it fixed again. I've heard of another application that should do the same with fewer limitation/bug. I'll post tomorow; now it is time for me to go to bed!

Yes the GSM change works. I had the same problem with other roms. You just have to make sure your push and active sync is off in your com manager before you switch.

Yes, you are right.

If you want the ActiveSync link selectable in Menu, you need uncheck Office Mobile from Settings-Menu. Then, all Office Mobile folder content appears as selectable items.

Hey!

First, ROM looks great and works great! When the WM6 ROMs came up someone ask, if there will be a faria ROM. Now I know why he asked ;)

here are some issues I have
-Setting region to germany seems to have no real effect. The date format is
still MM.DD.YY I checked it in the date tab again. Should be DD.MM.YY for germany and this is what the date tab says.
-most soft reset hang at the bootscreen. The second after the hanging one
is rebooting the device.

For the carrier settings:
O2 Germany has another one when the Internet Pack M or Internet Pack L is used. For this the access point is "surfo2" The other fields are empty.
That access point has no known speed limitation.
For the WAP Surfflat it is still internet or wap.viaginterkom.de. First one has higher speed but allows to bypass the proxy which is needed by the flatrate. The second one is slower (still enough for surfing with GPRS. I think it was something about 56KBit/s) but makes sure only traffic included by the flat is coming up.

Same issue here. The direct push option had the effect as a alway connected. So that option wasn't needed. I had trouble setting connection
to always on before. I had issues like a phone number must be dialed twice before a connection can be established. A data connection shouldn't be so dominated. I will check this again.

Same issue here. The direct push option had the effect as a alway connected. So that option wasn't needed. I had trouble setting connection
to always on before. I had issues like a phone number must be dialed twice before a connection can be established. A data connection shouldn't be so dominated. I will check this again.

Yes, if you enable DirectPush, you will have active data enable all the time. About the dialed twice, mine is working fine, i have 1.40 radio version.

This one did not detect my SPLv7.
For me not a problem because I know what I installed and I know how to check this is still ok. However for many people they might get seriously confused.

I had the hanging right after installing the ROM. Maybe I have to do a hard reset?!?

Have another issue in the HTCustom Tool. When I set my keyboard to German the special characters ß,ä,ö,ü don't appear first when I use the sym switching on the hard keyboard.
I found a cab with better settings in this forum. "German Input (Crossbow).cab"

So did a hard reset. This time I had set the date format twice in the regional settings. When I switch to German settings I see on the first page the uncommon format. Then I go to the date tab switch the format to another one. Because there the correct one is shown. Look back to the first page. worked. Went back to date page and choosed the one which is common.

The hanging stays. It appears for example when I do a reset after installing HTCustom (the one which is done after the question for it). It also happen sometimes, when I change something in HTCustom and push save.

i have been running this rom and there is ony 1 bug thats bugging me and its my internet connection. i can easily connect but after few minutes it just disconects. it hasnt happen to me before, apart from that and the huge memory bug down from voice command its a great rom

Hey!

First, ROM looks great and works great! When the WM6 ROMs came up someone ask, if there will be a faria ROM. Now I know why he asked ;)

here are some issues I have
-Setting region to germany seems to have no real effect. The date format is
still MM.DD.YY I checked it in the date tab again. Should be DD.MM.YY for germany and this is what the date tab says.
-most soft reset hang at the bootscreen. The second after the hanging one
is rebooting the device.

For the carrier settings:
O2 Germany has another one when the Internet Pack M or Internet Pack L is used. For this the access point is "surfo2" The other fields are empty.
That access point has no known speed limitation.
For the WAP Surfflat it is still internet or wap.viaginterkom.de. First one has higher speed but allows to bypass the proxy which is needed by the flatrate. The second one is slower (still enough for surfing with GPRS. I think it was something about 56KBit/s) but makes sure only traffic included by the flat is coming up.In the Regional settings change the seperator from . to / in the Date tab. Most all of Jose's ROM's have that setting.

Its not a handover problem, Ive tried locking to both 2G & 3G but its still disconnecting, Strange thing is just after a reset the connection seems to last for a minute or two however after its disconnected and reconnected it drops every 30 seconds or so....... I'll see if I can find something to time it....

In Programs\Accessories open Carriers autocfg and pick the 2nd Cingular (Cingular US PDA MediaNet) else you need to manually input the My ISP info (or look for the Cingular My ISP cab, there's one in the Wizard forum that I posted a while back.)
Also the Shogun Cingular cab works fine, a must keep for the SC!

This is a great ROM. I have only one request. Could we get a clean version without all the apps installed. I love the speed and polish your ROM has, but would prefer to pick the apps and utilities that are installed.

I like being introduced to nw applications but would like the option to remove them if I find them not to be something I will use.

I made a light version yesterday if Faria doesn't post on i'll post it tonight but still no E icon even in my version.
Also i have manualy put in the setting for cingular not using MediaNet but using WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM and it will keep the connection for a while and drop it but reconnect back in about 30 sec try using the HTweakC2.1b app

Normally on the Hermes I get a small icon over the signal bars when connected. I'm not getting that with this build. I am of course having the E icon issue.

@ austinsync & Trancecoder - great call on the d-pad! Now hat I think about it this never happened before Jose included the shadowmite/custel app .. (Bad Ass App!)

@ fun_key - smartskey isn't enabled by default, you must have clicked it in the Accessories folder. To me, is a very necessary app as I use a PaulyA big button dialskin and can't stand the WM6 smartdial.

Nice that my smartskey d-pad still works in my dialerpad but now my email viewing issue is resolved....


And I concur with the E icon issue. I turned off my 3G and forced GSM and it's a G....


again @ fun_key. Regarding the Calendar, no need for regedit... WM6 has always had the very cewl Menu / Tools / Options - Start In to make it as you want.

As for the Internet disconnect issue, I just drove to Miami (one hour trip) surfing the whole way... no disconnects....

I've now tested this rom myself a bit, here are my results:

I have not looked into these problems yet.

1) Agreed, I've not seen the E or H icon's at all, just stuck at the 3G.
2) HTCustom is not the latest version, doesn't support changing date/time formats
3) For me wmirc and opera can't autoconnect, yet iexplorer can.

Other than that it looks good to me so far...

For the case of the HTC CommManager, all there is to it are the CommManager.exe and the registry entries. I believe this should be the same for the 11 buttons comm manager.

I would like to get the files, but I do not want to spend one day flashing the new rom and then reconfiguring my device. That's why I was asking people who have already flashed the rom.

- Upgrade from black 3.01 to [faria] htc hermes
- hard reset
- all ok, phone started.....and
* connecting to network is very,very long
* problem with HSDPA

Downgrade to 3.01 black
hard reset
phone started, connecting to network is very,very long

Before upgrade to [faria] everything OK
MMS sent with "H" still on screen

Now, "H" only short moment i reconnect to "3G"

Flashed the ROM about 24 hours ago and here are my results so far.
- Same issues as everyone with E/G/3G icons.
- MS Exchange DirectPush. Working sporadically; seems to work while the screen is on but not when I turn it off.
- POP accouts and Hotmail Push. Working sporadically. Same problems here as with MS DirectPush
- MS VC 1.6. Working fine with my Jawbone. (by fine i mean as well as it did with previous rom and BT hacks in place)
- ActiveSync gives me an Error 608 (i think) about being unable to connect

Installed Hudson Moble's Phone and IP Dashboards and now cannot connect for data at all.

I must say regardless of these bugs, this ROM has performed the best for me and my needs and I have tried all the others.

You get VC's sound through your bluetooth headset out of the box (I mean, without the BT patch)? I was not able to use the mic/speaker of my headset so far (Nokia BH-200), even the bt patch didn't help.

Like everyone, I agree that it is a great ROM. I am also one of those dissapointed from another ROM. Few issues:
1. H icon like everyone else... Orange Israel network.
2. The new COMM Manager shines. Any chance of getting such a nice dialer as well?
3. BT Headset icon will be better in white.
4. I keep getting the bubble of "connecting to GPRS" and need to manually hide it.

i have tried almost every ROM version here on xdadev on my Hermes and I must say this version is the one i love the most. i guess its just the most appealing to me, since it doesnt have the most free memory, nor does it run faster than Black, in my opinion.
The only problem is that I got a stuck Hermes for way too much than expected, therefore I had to give it up. Dont know abput which conflict froze the phone, its just that i couldnt answer a simple call anymore.
When will you release a new version? I would surely try that one.

what connection issue? (i read about it, but dosn't see in my Hermes). Perhaps it is related to connection settings....don't know.

I use push mail using 3G/GRPS with my Exchange 2003 Server...and works fine for me...

the issue is it drops connection every 3-10 minutes its strange. i have tried using all the dll's from older roms and still no luck i think maybe it has something to do with what networks your on but most people have this issue

This is really a nice release! Faster and more stable than the most ROMs I tried from this forum. But I have an issue when I tried to turn off the phone in Comm Manager. When i clicked on the phone receiver icon to turn it off, it just appeared to search for signal continuously, instead of off the phone with a cross beside the antena icon on Today screen. I am using a Jasjam without putting a SIM card inside.

Another question, any idea how to disable the cleartype for the texts inside the Messaging. The hotmail texts are cleartype while i prefer the non clear type.

I have to do more testing but after installing Faria's while I was impressed with the overall speed I too experienced dropping issues while connecting to the internet or making calls. (usually had to dial twice to get a call out). So I switched back to Custel's Cingy 2.5 bbc. And I installed Battery Status since I liked the way that looked on the today screen.
And lo and behold now Custel's was acting strange. Dropping internet connection constantly and experiencing calling issues as well.
Turned off Battery Status and the problems disappeared.
I'll have to reflash Faria's to give it another try without Battery Status running and see if it helps. (not doing that till later tonight) Anyone that has Faria's installed give that a shot and see if it helps things along.

Found same problem replaced HTC X button as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1282369&postcount=34. Hasn't frozen since closing pages also much quicker.

Faria,
After trying almost all the other new ROMs I finally installed yours yesterday.
After installing and using several extra programs it looks like a solid ROM with nice extra's.

So far I have a few remarks for you:
1. Program memory consumption is a bit more than my last ROM: LVSW 3.20.2.1 Sleuth edition. It uses about 4 Mb extra (Sleuth: 28 Mb free, yours: 24 Mb free). Maybe a light version with extra cabs (I personally don't use programs like Real player, Flash lite, Adobe reader)?
2. The OK button in the speed dial screen doesn't respond. I can only exit the screen using the red phonebutton.
3. When I connect I don't get the 3G or G icon, I always get the horizontal arrows from Activesync.
4. I sometimes get the error: "An unhandled error has occurred in the shell. Attempt to restart the shell" and my device softresets. Never had that with previous ROM's.
5. OneNote has the old bug that the last file doesn't disappear after deleting it.
6. Maybe a few extra .tsk themes (they're small).

All problems I can live with. But maybe you can take some of them in your next version.

FARIA, I really like your ROM. Its maybe not quite as stable as LVSW, but is has a lot more bang in it, and cetainly doesn't need soft resets as often as *cough* black. Half the time it seems to be how apps interact with various ROMs.

The # 1 BONUS of your ROM is that now my JasJam works with a car charger, wheras all the other ROMS don't. For that alone you get a BiG G0LD STAR. Using TomTom nav a lot drains the battery!

Looking forward to your future serving suggestions.

Rom is very nice but I am really frustrated from "tweaked" cleartype font.. I can turn cleartype off in settings/system/screen but Pocket IE and Messaging are always using cleartype.. I guess it is some registry hack, but can't find it.. Please help

It's OK. I've done a bit of research and it seems that the WAP APN is to allow backwards compatibility with older phones that don't support HTML. There also used to be seperate pricing models depending on which data bundle you had, but apparently that has changed now and all bundles cover both APN's.

Although the Orange website says otherwise, I think orangeinternet should be the APN of choice for the Hermes.

You get VC's sound through your bluetooth headset out of the box (I mean, without the BT patch)? I was not able to use the mic/speaker of my headset so far (Nokia BH-200), even the bt patch didn't help.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. MS VC 1.6 did not route the audio to the headset until I applied the BT patches/reg tweaks. Prior to applying them, I was able to start MS VC via the button on the headset but had to speak into the mic on phone and would hear the result on the phone speaker. After the patches/tweaks I was able to speak into the headset and hear the result on the headset.

Again, Faria...supurb work. Anxiously awaiting the new release. I can confirm that for me at least, the network connection problems did not change when I changed from 3G, to edge to GPRS coverage areas. I was still recieving the "error 608" when I would press the ActiveSync Icon and the bubble about connecting to the network.

I did not have the E/G/3G icon problems in other ROMS that I used.

Turning off the Battery Status program did not make any differnece on nettwork problem either.

I can't say for the edge but yours and black dymond both do not display the H for HSPD. I'm in Japan and we don't have edge.

Well i can tell you that the issue is in Darksides ROM which is the same build as yours... it does not seem to happen with the builds up to 17745

You can use a great program called Tweaks2K2 here http://www.tweaks2k2.com/

Lot of tweaks, and you can enable/disable cleartype in PIE...

it looks like a sd card power management issue...desabling sd power management may fix it.

I have heard that this can be avoided in some cases by putting the phone in standby (i.e. pushing the power button) instead of letting it go to sleep on its own. Dunno - give it a try.

Please clarify your suggestion of installing the slueth/vpg3 version for the x-button fix. I believe those versions based on another ROM, not this BETA ROM?
