Am with u pietrucci. Besides I did bench mark with SPBench mark & SKTools one The result was Black 3.0.1 definitely faster than Black Diamond. But HOW & WHY? I just don’t know. Iwent back 2 Black 3.0.1 & I like it a lot.

If your screen is losing alignment this is a VERY WELL known issue. Refer to the wiki about this.

It is not the same build and kernel as Black 2.5
Read below (straight from the official thread...and i can verify it)
Build: 17743.0.2.3
CE: 5.1.1238
Edited to 17743.2.3.0 and 5.1.195 to allow BBconnect and Goodlink to work. This is required as BBConnect checks the AKU and Kernel verison of the OS.

Yes....but again this issue is related to hardware, specifically a gasket which when the device heats up expands and causes the screen misalignment.
Like i said before take a look at the wiki pages to see how this can be resolved.

Thanks, but am aware of this issue, checked it out when I bought the VPA initially, havent had a problem generally, almost back to the base ROM now and all seems to have settled down, also removed the VIJAY stuff which has some apps to change screen item size, this may have been causing the issue...

URGH dude you didnt mention that did you!!! (slaps tony with a kipper)
The crucial info there was the 3rd party app playing with the screen ;)
Sounds like youve diagnosed it yourself then ;)

Read below (straight from the official thread...and i can verify it)ok, ok, I'm wrong. The build (17743.0.2.3) is newer than 2.5 and a slightly newer than 3.0.1 (17743.0.2.2).
But still older than LVSW (17913.0.3.0).
But that is a fake I assume you will reply?
What I'm trying to say is that it looks like all the ROMs are practically the same (only other programs and drivers).
I tried almost every ROM but after LVSW 19-05-2007 (a mayor step forward!) I really can't tell anymore which one is "better", faster, stabile...

You use the ROM you are MOST COMFORTABLE WITH and that helps you use your phone the way YOU want to. That's it. This is personal preference. There is not necessarily a 'right' or 'wrong' answer.
I happen to think LVSW roms (mine included) are some of the most stable and 'base' roms around. Black is good too. A lot of testing was in that, and JJ has proved himself to be competent in the past. It just comes down to which you prefer.

Black 3.5 is based on the RTM/RTO versions sent out to Operators for release. the 179** builds are in Microsoft's terms 'Dogfood' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eat_one's_own_dog_food) leaked builds from the Windows Mobile department...
yes they are a great improvement on speed and stability but are still ina term 'beta'... Like most products they still have their 'undocumented features' which is why you see the odd bug or two... Currently the latest WM6 RTO/RTM build is 17745

i tried dymond. i personally do not like the black finish. and i get troubles as soon as i start it (wireless not detected, false phone provider etc...). the recorder feature is the one i like best in dymond.
as it doesnt offer any other advantages, i will go back to lvsw, which seems to be more stable (in my personal view).

1. no. Black ROM tech discussions take place at the 4winmobile forums.

What crap.
Black Dymond tech discussions can happen here. The difference is the community can try to fix the problem, as the Chef isn't on these forums. Theres no reason it can't be discussed.
You would of been right sayin "you more likely to get a better or faster ranswer from the 4winmobile forums from the chef" but theres no reason tech issues can't be discussed here at all.

Actually if I put it in the /windows folder I can't even find it in the selection box. However if I put it in the /mydocument or /storage card folders it will show up but just can't use it as ringtone. This is kinda annoying as the rom is pretty much perfect for me except for this little problem

29th May 2007, 12:27 PM
Try putting the file in the "Rings" folder in the Windows folder...you should then see it in the list and be able to choose it.
Also, I've had problems where I've installed some MP3 playing software (not sure which one caused it) where that then stopped the phone from playing MP3 tones - not sure if that was on WM5 though - can't remeber the last time I had that.
HTH,

You can put the ringtones on the Storage Card. Make a folder called "My Ringtones" in the My Documents folder.
Works flawlessly. :)

Anyone on here using BB Connect with this rom? I have tried 3 versions, all work as far as sending and receiving mail but the mail all comes into the Inbox even though I have configured the BES account to distribute amongst the configured folders in line with the Rules I have on Outlook. The annoying thing is that on WM5 the same BB Client distributed things properly, has he changed the Mail client on this build, is it not a standard one?

Just installed this version after coming from Black v2.0
I notice that this was removed in v2.5 - replaced by PIM backup (Which is no longer present in Black Dymond)
Does anyone have an installable copy of the SMS Backup app present in v2.0?
I backed up my 300+ txt messages before the ROM upgrade, and now I can't get them back in!
Tried searching for it, but it seems the new version of it (SMS Organiser) doesn't recognise the SMS Backup export.
Help appreciated! Would hate to go back just to get my SMS messages back!
(I know - sounds sad, but I have a lot of information in there that I need to refer to, and some pretty funny jokes too!)

If you are talking about Jeyo SMS Backup, take a search in google with "Jeyo SMS Backup" and you'll find it.
Can't remember what sms backup include the Black 2.5... sorry.

Sure yes, more complet, with lot of options, but in my case SMS Backup take less time with Jeyo, only 1 minute, and with PIM takes 10, so i use both :)

As far as I know, its best to try different radios for your area or network.
Have tried 1.41 & 1.40 on Orange uk, with not very good results, 1.38.00.01(official orange) or 1.38.00.10 works much better.
However, lot of people like 1.41 in the US & elsewhere, 1.40 works well for others.
Good luck & happy flashing

Just upgraded to Dymond 3.5 with Radio Stack 1.41.00.10. I'm on Orange UK with a M3100. Everything seems ok except the fact that instead of receive a 'new voicemail' text/sim update, all I seem to get is a sim message with some symbols.
Does anyone know how I might get the normal messages back?

Not sure if this has anything to do with Dymond but I have a slight problem with TomTom 6. Everything works perfectly well with my BT headset and BT GPS running. However, if TomTom is running and I make or accept a call, it stays on the phone screen until the call is over. On previous Black ROMs, on answering a call, it would switch back to the TomTom screen and the TomTom would display the 'sound off' icon so I could continue to navigate whilst talking.
Anyone else having this issue? If not I guess I will try a hard reset and re-install to see if that works.

Same here, although I haven't noticed any change since the previous black ROM's?
I have a button assigned to TT so I can get the navigation screen back quickly while talking. Not ideal but functional.

Well in the older Black ROMs (certainly on 2.5), the TomTom screen WOULD appear automatically during a call and the TomTom 'mute' icon would be on the screen
