I guess its a silly question, but are we infringing on copyright laws by using the modified WM6 Rom?

Yes we are ;)

It's called commerce, they just want you to upgrade to other devices! On the other hand, most devices run best with the OS designed for it. And yes there are exceptions, I know ;)
