Are there any people also annoyed like me by the large default fontsize ?
I was used to Tytn small font in email, now the smallest setting on Vox is normal, which is too large for me.

I used Total Commander.

You can also transfer the css via Active Sync to the PC. Then remove the write protection and edit the file. Then save it to a different folder and copy it back to the device. That worked fine for me.

How did you get Total Commander to let you do this? I've been trying and had no luck so far. I've copied the file to a different directory on the phone and the PC, but I'm not having any luck overwriting the original file.
This is on the Cavalier though, but it shouldn't be any different.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi, In Total Commander you can switch into 2 window mode. You can copy and overwrite the css files from one windows to another. Similar as on PC.

Thanks, but I've tried that.
* I have the new CSS on my memory card.
* Have teh second window set to \Windows
* Select the new css file and go file-copy
* the "copy/move " window comes up and I hit OK
* conirmation window "overwrite: \windows\... with \storage card\..." and I hit "Overwrite"
* "Confirm" windows pops up saying "Cannot ccopy or move file!"
Is there anything I should have done first?

Do you have your Mail application switched off? Look at Task manager. Or turn Off/On phone and try it to copy again.

This font hacks look great. Does anyone know how to shrink the fonts being used in the message list view and the folder lists? I find I can only see 4 message headers at a time on Wm6 / Q9.. Horrible use of space. Same with folders list, font is massive. I'm assuming it is one of the dozens of .css files in that windows directory.

@zipreddictive: ... edit the compose_style.(langcode).css ...
@tommytuna: ... it's impossible ... or you found a developer to write a new app for this ;)

Hi - I edited the compose style and now the new message fonts look good to. Still can't figure out how to get the message list to tighten up. Argghh.. So useless with 4 messages at a time when you can easily get 6-7 with tightening up that screen.

Poking around.. What does QTStyle_xxx.css and Iframe_xxx.css do? They appear to have quite a few font references inside them..

Guys, I have the OPPOSITE problem. My eyes have given up when it comes to reading up close and I need BIG, VERY BIG fonts so that i can see who is calling me. Think the iPhone. It's the only phone I have seen where I can actually see WHO's calling me.
I would keep that but the damn ringer is NOT loud enough so now I'm trying the vox.
Now, the vox is LOUD enough but without glasses I can't see who's calling me.
Can you guys help and with DETAILED instructions please, i'm pretty stupid at this kind of stuff.
Thanks
I have the S710 by the way.

I have done the edit of the read_style.css and the emails look good while reading. Does someone have a method to get the compose screen down to the same dimensions. I have edited the compose_style.css sheet to try to duplicate the method, but either I'm not editing the correct values, or something else is preventing the body of the message from appearing in 7pt type. Thanks.

Have you edited the right file ... the correct langcode ???

Yes, I did, thanks. I literally changed every font size in the css file to 7pt. Headers changed, but not the main message.

for sms msgs u should see a difference if the correct fiole is edited, however the change may not be obvious in the body of emails as it depernds on the text style the msgs were composed in

so in the ActiveSync window, i clicked the Explore icon.
then an explorer window came up.

hi zeeshee,
yes you have to restart the mail application. not only by closing the program using the standard windows button because it's only minimizing it.
you must go to task manager and terminate the application, or just simply soft reset your device to make the change work. :)

Using Windows Mobile 6.1 it seems that applying modification to windows\read_style.0409.css was not enough.
I modified the font size of all *.css files, and now it's perfect (both SMS & mails).
Files modified :
iframe_style.0409.css
thread_style.0409.css
Thanks for the tip!

can you upload all .css files you changed so that we shall copy them ?
emms007
24th March 2008, 01:26 PM
Sure,
Here are the files. As mentioned above, you need to copy the files in the \windows directory. Those files were extracted from a windows mobile 6.1 installation.
The fonts are set to around 8pt, which is not too small to read but way better than the original.
