Hi! Today, a friend has given me that smartphone with a "litlle" problem. When I try to run it, it doesn't pass of the HTC logo. I tried all, softreset, hardware reset, etc... One thing, that I think is "curious" is that when I try to start it in Bootloader mode, it only show IPL and SPL, but not GSM and OS. If I connect it to the USB, in the computer all the time appears and dissapears the connection icon saying that a "error was produced".
What can I do?
Regards and thanks

Someone GAVE you that smartphone probably because it is bricked. this means you CANNOT use it, the only chances that you have:
-Unbrick with an original ROM that was installed on that phone*
-Send it to HTC Repair centre
Try these RUU's out:

If this does not work, well.. you'll have to pay big time;)

Hi!
If "bricked" means "barried"(sorry I'm not english, I'm from Spain), I can say that is not barried, cause I saw other times that phone in the hands of my friend running perfect and I was present when he bought it, so I know for sure that is not barried.
Where is the original rom? Is a backup?
If I can do it.. I will send it to the repair center.

bricked means = a ROM with errors installed. SO you have to install a new rom.
Put the phon ein bootloader mod - connect it and try to install one of the listed ROms from the dutchman.
Su herald is muerto hast tu probares de poner und rom official. Eso es "bricked" - y si no functiona con una rom official - porque no conectionar con tu PC -- tu tienes que poner a service.
Perdona.

Oh, thanks! Thanks for the translation. I've tried to put it in bootloader mode but all the time the computer is advertising of connection and disconnection, and that, all the time.
I'm trying more options
Thanks
In bootloader:

If I don't put the SD card, windows doesn't detect the PDA, but If I put it, Windows "detect" something, and at the same time disappear.

1. bootloader
2. connect
Then in the left down corner should appear "USB" on the green - red - blue screen on herald.

Run an RUU for the Herald!

That is not possible. The PC can't detect the PDA correctly.

Yes, I tried it so many times, and all the time the PC is showing that "something" has been connected, and 1s after, something has been disconnected, and the software of update shows that nothing was detected.

Just enter the bootloader and restart PC until it detect your PPC by ActiveSync. It is PC's, not PPC's issue.

I have the same problem.
It started with the device being slow doing things. I thought some application behaved badly. I soft-reset the phone once and everything was ok until a few hours later, when it started doing the same, a while after that, I find it being reset and stack in the HTC startup screen.
I go into bootloader mode where I see the same screen posted above. Connecting the usb cable, it shows "USB" at the bottom, but then the device is not recognized by the -official- update utility.
My phone is only two weeks old! I have to wait a week before I take it to HTC service, since I'm on vacation.
It seems like a hardware problem.

I think you should run an official RUU and that should clear things up. Your pc may or may not recognize the herald but run the RUU anyways. Keep running through the steps for the RUU as if you knew that windows recognized the phone. It should work.

I already said: "but then the device is not recognized by the -official- update utility". The RUU does not find the device.
I have done some more reading... maybe I should put the .nbh files on the SD, it's trying to read from there when entering the bootloader.
What I would like to know, if other people had experience with this: Is it a hardware problem, so sent it back to service and not waste any more time, or try to fix it by flashing it? How was this problem caused in the first place? Am I going to run into this problem again in the future?
