Hi,

my brother in law recently got a sony 850i, this phone has the ability to tell you the name of a track and artist that you play into its mic. it does a search against an online database and then returns you infomation about the song (presumably with options to buy the ring tone...)

it works in a similar way to shazam, but it's free (not 50pence per tack like shazam!)

does any one know of ANY windows, or windows mobile software than can do this kind of audio fingerprint and search features? I would love to be able to tag music from the radio with my PPC whilst im out and about!

and have downloaded the app.
installing the app on my spare hermes broke te programs menu!!! had to hard reset it! (thank god i put it on my spare not my main unit :)

extracted the files with CabWUZ and found the musicID executable, put that onto both my spare and my main hermes and when i run it, it loads the splash screen followed by the main screen and then promptly crashses locking the phone up completly.

have you had this application working? can you offer any advice?
am i useing the same Cingular app you were talkking about?

so how is the billing SUPPOSED to work on this... can't see how they can charge me, but i dont want the app to stop working next week...

were you able to locate the reg entries..
just remove them
that should help

just for added secruity i hope you are not on at&t and if you are really paranoid then try removing your sim card and see if it still works (should work)

Found the Registry settings which holds the Data about the trial!

HKLM\software\MusicID

so far a delete of this resets the trial period to 3 days!

what more as your privously tagged data is stored a dir on the root of the device under \app data\musicID
this data is left alone and so you can see what previous songs you have tagged!!!

i'll start working on a script to automate the process of editing the registry now....

Complete setup Instructions.

download this file.

in here you will find three files
musicID.mscr
MusicID.exe
MortScript-4.0-PPC.cab
(im not sure im supposed to include this for re-distribution, i'll take it down if anyone thinks im not!!)


Step 1)
extract the attached file onto the PC.

Step 2)
Make DIR on SD card
Storage Card\Program Files\MusicID

Step 3)
MusicID.exe in that dir.

Step 4)
Put musicID.mscr into My Docs Dir (can go anywhere, but this is as good as any)

Step 5) Optional!!
Use GSFinder+ or equivilent file explorer to make shortcut to musicID.mscr file. place this shortcut in
\windows\start menu\programs
(if you want it in your programs list)


Step 6)
Install the mortScript-4.0-PPC.cab file.

Step 7)
Run MusicID.mscr and MusicID should run, each time deleting off the registry keys that contain trial infomation...

I extracted it, and even tried the separately posted MusicID.exe, however when I click on it in Resco File Explorer, nothing happens? I'm running WM2003SE.

Tried it on my i730 with Verizon. Works, except for softkeys. So after it analyzes and finds the song, i have to close and restart the app to try again. Very cool tho!

Tried from Main and Storage card .... app gets launched but no rendering of soft keys at the bottom (two main ones) and hence don't know what to do ... basically not functioning properly .... sad, wanted this app very much.

ok, i dont get softkeys rendered either on the main page,

i use the up down of the hemes nav button to select from the menu.

(or the keyboard up/dwn arros) and then enter to select.

a coupl eof the screens do have softkeys, but the main loading page does not.


what phone you trying this on? i only have a hermes and a himalaya to test it on... so far only bothered with the hermes.

Yups, indeed with the dpad, or in my case Roller on Artemis, the application is working nicely .... :)

Hello,

When I bought my refurb AT&T Tilt, I noticed something peculiar:

The MusicID never said anything about a trial 3-day limit! It just ran without any issues, every time.. Seems to be a bundled feature with the AT&T Tilt phone.. (I may be completely crack-addled thinking this, since I only ran it two or three times, but I promise it never bugged me to subscribe!)

Unfortunately, I've since re-flashed my Tilt with the HTC WM6.1 image, so I lost all the wacky branded stuff. Good riddance, Tiger Woods. ;)

I also noticed in the file CUSTEL+Cingular+Applications.cab from earlier in this thread, there are two files related to MusicID:

\Program Files\MusicID.exe and
\Windows\musicID_at.exe

It seems that musicID_at.exe is a loader for the actual MusicID.exe, and bypasses the "trial mode" for AT&T customers.

Can someone else please check into this and verify it? Attached is the exe from the aforementioned CAB. It is not patched/cracked/modified in any way. Note that it should go in \Windows, but I haven't tried putting it elsewhere.

I just downloaded en installed the MusicID-DXM.cab, and while it works alright (but only once!) it seems not to be able to handle screen layout very well - it does not refresh etc..and I cannot exit the application.

any clean up exists?

Hi . I put the .cab file to my storage and made the installation . then , the problem I have, is ,that the programm working only once a time and it frozes. Then I have to close it from the root ,if I want to use it again. Did i make something wrong or this is the way it works ? No problem with trial limits until now ...it works .

This is working great on Tilt WM 6.0 - thanks to everyone for their work on this.

I notice that if you click "get full song", it opens IE and tries to go to wap.att.napster.ericyhost.com to download the song. This results in an error message, of course.

Is there a way to write a script that would open up your browser of choice, go to a site of choice and also include the artist and song as a query on that site?

Not quite like having the full app, but would be very convenient for those with an account somewhere who want to purchase the song directly/immediately. Thanks!

This is very good to recognize the songs as if you put in to capture audio as well if you sing.

It seems lika all SonyEricsson phones have this app TrackID.
Got the app with the X10 Mini(Android) and the J20i Hazel.

Also the darned M1i Aspen had a WinMo6.5 version of the same app.

Have been using TrackID a few times and it seems to fail (not recognized track) as much as it really get it right.

Perhaps my fault, that likes weird and odd songs because even PowerAMP fails to download the correct album cover for my mp3s.
