Pandora 5.2.1413 mUn Based ROM - 02.x0 Release Candidate(s)

These builds are intended to be the final run until a major change is release from M$ or a new port is acquired. I want to start focusing on writing tools for the OS.

After running my previous builds and incorporating a lot of the feedback that have been posted in numerous threads, I wanted to build some roms for those who want to try the new build without having to learn the kitchen.

The key reason for these build revisions is that it incorporates compression, allowing both more to fit into a rom, and allowing the programs to load faster.

These fixes are incorporated into Pandora's Box, so you can use the kitchen to make your own "recipe" if you don't like how I set these up.

All have the 'Wifi fix' added, so there's no issue with enabling the wifi radio.

My phone "idles" around 64mA, and gets great battery performance because I set the phone up to be that way. After I installed the ROM, I remove poutlook, sddaemon, and init_tray from /Windows/Startup. To keep the phone from "waking up" ever few minutes, I just hit Device Lock when I'm done.

NOTE: It only flashes the OS. Nothing added in the ROM for IPL/SPL, CID, SPLASH, or HTC_LOGO. Just FYI. There's an extended empty rom in "downloads" if you need it.

Feedback Suggestions:

Add games to OE Style -true, most OE does have some games, but most put on their own. Maybe if I have to roll the rev on this one, not planned right now.

Note though, that after I started using this build (1413) that my IPL/SPL numbers dropped the 0's. I'm not sure why though, since nobody else has seen this (or at lease reported it)

I'm not sure. If he uses mUn's latest, then that is correct. "Pandora" has always referenced this build, just FYI. There's a few older revs out there, this being the latest.

Right - I didn't add a custom one, since most people like to create their own. My personal one is in the 02.x0 Beta thread, and my personal ROM build has my WAP installing from the Extended ROM after flash, as well as the splash screen. I try to leave the release roms more "plain" since most users here like to tweak and poke... :)

Just flashed 2.22 cause was too greedy to flashed the "naked/stripped" version which I should have. Freaking fast but something hangs and now screen alignment problem, the threshold limit fix is barely holding on.. let's let it brew first...

I haven't seen any screen alignment issues - with any rom. Does it have issues on other builds?

Keeping the startup folder clean really has improved my stability - getting rid of poutlook, sddaemon, and others but what I must have to run.

I think I just found out those bad bad things... I just had to restart my device 16 times because it would lock up before my today plug ins loaded.. and I only run 2 .. Weatherpanel and SPB Diary.

Freezing up and partial /mixed applications are primary. I've had WM5 wallpaper and menu's, and after the hard-reset - it's all WM6.

There's no telling what can happen - but EVERY time I didn't do a hard reset or a clear memory - I've seen lingering issues until I did so.

no! I was flashing a rom and the Romupdate utility encountered an error 10% into the update.. and it shut down.. Im scared to unplug my phone or do anything.. it still shows 10% on the phone...

unplug the phone. Hold down the camera button and press the reset button. Keep the camera button in until the rainbow screen shows up.

Restart your computer. Once it has rebooted, plug in the USB cable and ensure that the PC acknowledges the connection (active sync won't show connected - that's okay).

After everything has loaded, re-run the flash utility - and don't touch ANYTHING while it's loading. Once it hits 100% and closes on it's own, then let the phone go to the calibration screen, and do a hard-reset.

If I can be so rude as to compare it to a porche or fararri - it needs work and attention to make it work - but when it's set up correctly - it kicks butt.

FYI - I'm updating all the links again. I removed WM5torage from Loaded, and removed the loud ring from all.

I just wanted to hit on some key points I've found along the way with the 15.2.1413 build.

1. You always have to hard-reset or clear-memory after flashing from a different image.

2. The radio that works best in most situations is 2.19.

3. Don't use the extended rom unless you really know what you're doing.

4. If you do have problems, remove the extended rom as a variable by flashing it with an empty one.

5. When all else fails, go back to the OEM ROM, then come back and do your OS, radio, extended, splash, whatever.

6. Before you install your programs, test it first! Don't slam it with a bunch of stuff then say the rom is crap. It might be a compatibility with a particular program.

7. As with #6, this is a relatively new build. Not very program has been tested with every other. This is combined with the addition of compression. This is not a OEM vanilla rom. Please don't expect to be one.

8. Leaner is better. Don't bog down the OS with extra services and crap that hot CPU utilization and battery life through file system operations. Keep it clean.

9. Learn the characteristics of the phone. Does it act a certain way with this program installed, but if I remove it / disable it from the today screen the symptom goes away? Troubleshoot as you go, and post your results. That way we can all contribute to a much better system.

I'm sure there's more, but I wanted to get these out there.

So it's 1 in the morning (again), and I have just re-configured my phone (again, to 02.90) after loading and checking each rom's memory numbers.

To summarize, I installed the rom, booted to the align screen and did a hard-reset. Then I cleaned up the startup folder, the start menu, the today screen, installed my theme, my dialpad theme, WAP settings, Pocket Streets, TOPO, monopoly, pool, Cingular Xpress Mail, configured BatteryStatus, Windows Live, Xpress Mail, and adjusted the screen off per my taste.

No lockups, no errors, smooth, fast, and as I expected it to be - a nice experience. Sure, I'd like my extended rom to do this all for me, but that's a later project... :)

This is the base ROM configuration I've been using for weeks now, less minor tweaks, and can't be happier.

I hope that this will be what everyone has while using these ROMs... ;)

yeah i love that OE build.....it would be nice to have transcriber and personally i think if you are gonna have 1-calc then shouldnt you get rid of the Calculator shortcut from programs ? i mean its redundant dont u think

Just flashed your 2.05 naked version last night and it is pretty lean, fast and stable. So you can forget about my comments yesterday about 2.22 which is probably due to a bad flash.

However, I have this problem with WMP being unable to play Midi files? I didn't discover this until today, do you know where to get the "filters" to play midi files?

Hmmm... never seen a midi issue with this version of WMP. Can you send me a file to test?

hmmm... since I haven't seen this my self - I should ask if you did the hard-reset after flashing. If so, have you installed any phone keypad themes? Otherwise, you might try creating a new contact entry for a phone that isn't in your contact list - possibly your contact list is "corrupted" in a way that the phone app can't "look up" the number.

Did a hardreset last night to check if it was my apps causing the problems, but it is confirmed, WMP10 cannot play 3gp, m4a and midi files, this are the ones that I tried. Mp3s, wavs and wmvs are fine though.

Luckily I downloaded before a cab, which seems to be from Helmi, that adds the capability to play all this files to WMP10. And after installing the cab, it works. And now, I can set m4a(mono output only though) files as ringtones again.

I can't upload the cab at the moment, will do it later.

Hi. Thanx for that nice and stable ROM (02.90).

2. My notification for incomming calls is sound and vibrate, but first time today, when somebody rang me, I saw only vibrate and no sound.
Any suggestions?

A2DP is working on 2.05(beta release for naked and camera not RC)

It seems to be the new stack as UseJointStereo=1 is still stereo but hissing is still around although less severe... sigh..

Now I'm using BTcrawler audio router. I can use my stereo headset now(still 02.90), but sound quality is still poor. Is here any reg tweak to increase a sound quality... increase bitpool maybe?

Have you tried the hermes fixed by Hardcore?

Sorry you guys are facing this issue with A2DP. I really need to get a headset to test this stuff out... :o

Booting hangs at Today screen 4 out of 5 times, I don't know why.
And sometimes it hangs suddenly with BT or GPRS enabled
