HTC uses Dopod as their brand in Asia. For example:

Dopod 577W = Qtek 8310

Dopod C500 = HTC S710 = SPV E650

where is the rom from?

It's the lastest rom for Dopod C500, I got it from Dopod Asia.

It's available for S710 and E650, but you should cid unlock your phone first. BTW, it's English and Chinese duo-language supported.

i had to cid unlock my device. i used imei-check.uk and all went well (after they made me send a copy of my license to verify who i am). the install went smooth. the device seems slightly quicker when switching screen orientation while in the messaging application. not fast, but a little quicker. my device would take several seconds before and sometimes it would freeze while doing this.

if i encounter any problems i will make note of it here.

I just tried to flash my unbranded HTC Vox and I am getting the following:

ERROR [294]: INVALID VENDER ID

This is really weird, I thought unbranded phones were all CID unlocked? Is that erro because it is locked? I was hoping to load this up becase my vox is a little slow too, but mostly because I was hoping that it fixes the continous reboot problem with microsd card. I have tried to clear out the notifications and that hasn't fixed the reboot problem.

Any ideas?

Damm, they want $38 to unlock the phone...what happened to those free CID unlockers on the older phones. Any way to do this for free? Hehehe. Do you like the new rom? Want to make sure it's worth it....

UNL filesize is 33108 bytes. I did have a look into the file with ultra edit and it look like garbage to me but I have little knowledge in that kind stuff :D

It's prolly a digitally signed certificate which is tight to the IMEI

I wonder how the unlock companies get those certs.

Well, it's already there, I knew this key, I already used this trick on my SPV C600. But the matter is I always see GPRS, not EDGE. Seems a problem with my network provider though. (SFR)

Did anyone run into a problem with updating the registry? For some reason with the new rom I can't make any changes to the registry, I just get an error using Mobile Registry Editor. I CID unlocked the phone in order to run the rom, do I need to CID unlock it again?

Dear friends My HTC s710 came with the 3D menu pre installed. Once I reformated (Hard Reset) the phone ( I had serious problem after installing Batttery Pack Pro ) The 3D menu layout is gone. I have been searching for the specific HTC 3D Menu application. I got the Dopod 500 3D menu installed but the original HTC 3D Menu application visiual was far far better... Can some one help with the the HTC s710 original 3D menu... I will be glad.

Have now flashed the HTC rom and its superb! I even dont get the annoying sound delay / interuption when opening the keyboard!

Well since you could update you're SPV C500 rom withouth CID unlocking it should be possible to do the same for the s710. The steps for the spv c500 update were the following:

In this little howto I'll explain how to update every C500:

First you'll need to download this tool:

Step 1 download the latest rom Update from the Orange Site and the NBFTool
Step 2 Open the update, on the first welcome screen all files are unpacked. Lookup for the NBF file in the temp directory.
Step 3 Open the NBF file with the NBF tool and change the following:

(This is a dutch example. Each country has different settings!)
Manufact. HTC
Model ID. SPV C500
Image Version 4.1.1.4
Language DUTCH
Sec. Ver. 1.1.1.91
Operator ORANGE (or leave empty)
Num sect. 5
Header CRC 0xB9BF3D34

Step 4 Recalculate the header.
Stap 5 Save back to the temp directory
Stap 6 Repeat with the update

Please stay calm at 99%, this can take a while!

You can download it but you CAN'T flash it to your device. Your device is HTC Tornado so it is diferent than HTC Vox.
Every rom is device specific, so you CAN'T use rom from other product family. Use rom for tornado. Wm6 roms are available for your device, just look around.

I believe I have the latest WWE ROM on my HTC S710 but I was wondering if there was a Radio Upgrade. I recently upgraded just the Radio on my HTC Touch and it solved my problem.
On the S710, I am having trouble connecting to a particular network in Jamaica (Digicel). However, the phone works on the other GSM network here quite fine. In the past, I have merely upgraded either the ROM or the Radio on my previous HTC phones and this solved the problem.
I have this Radio version 4.1.13.37_02.83.90
Is there a newer version out there? If so, please post a link so I can try to update.

I just got a phone (c500) and wanted to reflash my phone with the lastest rom(dopod) since there are some extra features.

The phone is not branded but i got a vendor ID error.

As far as I know, WWE means World Wide English.

The rom has English language builtin, may have others as well but at least English is present.

its the fastest and stablest rom I've ever seen! especially fast, and with omap on 240 its just flying. So I definitely advise it. You can choose not to install the arabic part: it asks.

HTC_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47_02.98.90.exe is what had to be on the phone right from the start. Faster than 1.15 and more stable. Seems another phone. Ok, I exagerate a bit but definitely you won't regret it.

As already said, if aren't into Arabic, just skip that part of the Post installation.

1)when i choose no arabian i have some kind of rectangle, squares etc instead of letters.
So I install polish lang pack becouse i cannot find english or US pack. The letters will appear, but the button "fn" and "caps" dosn't work. I push it and nothing. What's wrong?? I want to have this rom so maybe you can help me. What file i need to install after this rom install, and where i can find it. I want to have US or english lang. or full polish lang.

Hold down the * button when in T9 mode and you will see a language option - pick T9 English

I have a french HTC with azerty keyboard with HTC_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47 rom.
It works well, it is totally in french, except my keyboard (in abc mode) write in qwerty (when i type on visual touch A, a Q appears on the screen).

I made all the steps of the second post in the thread you posted.
And when i want to write with keyboard, nothing appears on screen !
I maybe made a mistake in I my "eT9.Vox.040C.kmap.txt". I attached this file to the post.
Could you tell me what's wrong in this file?

Ok this was the method I was going to post, I didn't have this problem.. Did you try to soft reset your device and replace the file just after booting ? Maybe you also have to uncheck the read only attribute of this file ?
Maybe you will be interested by the rom I am currently trying to cook. It is based on the ARA one but I removed the Arabic language and made it for our azerty keyboards among other changes.

Maybe you will be interested by the rom I am currently trying to cook. It is based on the ARA one but I removed the Arabic language and made it for our azerty keyboards among other changes.

I tried swapping the files after a soft reset but this doesn't solve the problem. It still says the file already exists and the phone says I should check if the target file is in use or protected.

There must be a way to check if the original file is protected...but how?

The file options when using the file explorer on the phones are limited, maybe there's another way to browse the phone's 'windows' folder
on the PC? Then, maybe, I can change the file's security values.

Edit: If anyone has a French (azerty) ROM, that would be fine too. That way I'll just use it in english.

Your phone is behaving like this, becouse it is NOT fully unlock or not unlock at all!!

After unlock, you will find no problems overwriting files in rom and while overwrited, it will stay there for good.

If your phone is deleting system files you put in, then phone is not fully unlocked. Simple as that.
To unlock it, you need any registry editor for your phone, change the security policy. I don`t remember the exact keys, but you can find it in many articles over the net or this forum.

I suppose that is the only thing needed for the language pack. There are other cabs like the dictionary, the Hijri Calander, and the Prayer Times (as it is on the PocketPC platform), but these are not needed for the Arabic core to work.

HTC_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47_02.98.90.exe is what had to be on the phone right from the start. Faster than 1.15 and more stable. Seems another phone. Ok, I exagerate a bit but definitely you won't regret it.

As already said, if aren't into Arabic, just skip that part of the Post installation.

Guys, it gets a bit confusing after reading about so many ROMs, and ways to flash them.

This is my current situation:

I have a Dopod C500 with ROM version: 1.19.708.2, and Radio version 4.1.13.37_02.83.90. I got it in Hong Kong, and it's in WWE.

This is my doubt:

1) Can I flash this phone using a Vox ROM? I think so, but any confirmation is good! :)

2) I read in this thread that the HTC_Vox_ARA_1.27.415.4_4.1.13.47_02.98.90.exe ROM is really good (I quote: "its the fastest and stablest rom I've ever seen! especially fast, and with omap on 240 its just flying. So I definitely advise it. You can choose not to install the arabic part: it asks").

3) Finally, while browsing XDA's FTP, in the Shipped folder there is a version called: RUU_Vox_HTC_Vox_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90. exe

QUESTION: which of the two is more reliable, good, interesting, etc!

Thanks! I was able to flash my Dopod c500 with HTC s710's latest ROM by using the SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe, then the Vox USPL- CID BYPASS.zip, following by the Vox-USPL-RUU, and finally with the RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship .exe!

It looks and feels amazing! The fonts, the icons, much faster... GREAT!
