Sorry for the quick post but I'm late as usual! Jose asked me a couple of daze ago to release this Wizard ROM. My wife and a few others have been quite happy with it. Unfortunately I have no time this AM to post the info (but we had to "sit" on it for a while..)

The biggest issue with it is changing the theme if I remember correctly.

Anyway, here goes, enjoy

Mobile Office 2007
and Jose's usual stuff.

btw, I've included remotedesktop and x-button 1.0 cabs, please let me know how they work!

Ok, initial comments...

This is the same rom that we are working on in the other thread about official Wizard rom. OS shows at 10.1.0.811 and the build date is Aug 2006 (See pics below). It has a few apps on it (X-Button 1.5 is on here and enabled so thats why the today screen problems that Dr. P mentioned I'm guessing). BatteryStatus is on here and is build 182.

The menu sounds (clicks) are disabled.

Apps I see so far:

Office 2007
Adobe Reader
Smartskey (not active by default)
Registry Editor (DotFred's TaskManager)
Total Commander
HTC Zip
WM5torage
VoiceCommand
BatteryStatus (has the program/icon in Start>System>Settings)
CallCalendar2 (no clue what this is. I clicked on it and it didn't seem to do anything)
Mobile Secretary
PIM Backup
SIPConfig
StartupManager
Windows Update
X-Button 1.5

Seems quick. I haven't looked to see what the pagepool is yet. Only thing I'm surprised at is the program memory being low right after flash (23meg)

X-Button 1.5 is causing this issue.

Thanks Faria and Dr P.

Here is some basic info on the rom.

OS 5.2.318 (BUILD 15342.4.0.01)

MEMORY (PROGRAM)
TOTAL 49.70
IN USE 26.58
FREE: 23.12 (28.9 after below step)

After deleting the following shortcuts from WINDOWS/STARTUP (btdwake.lnk, capnotify.lnk, init_tray.lnk, poutlook.lnk, vibrate.lnk, voice command.lnk)and doing a soft reset my free program memory increased to 28.9mb

This rom seems blisteringly fast to me!:) Gonna throw a few apps at it now...

This is just the OS. No extended rom, gsm, splash screens etc.

I have just flashed this and generally very happy. Only one thing I have noticed. It is not possible to bring Activesync to the foreground. It is running as my E-Mail, contacts, and calendar got synchronised but if I choose the app from the Office Mobile directory there is a flicker then it stops.

This prevents me from checking the config or doing a manual sync. Task Manager shows that it is running and clearly it is working.

I tried both with and without X-Button enabled but it made no difference.

Anyone else seeing this ?

Wow, good catch. ActiveSync isn't even a program to run it appears.

[edit...] I found ActiveSync, its in the Mobile Office folder with some other stuff (and yes, this is Office 2007). I can't bring ActiveSync to the front though as you stated.

Also the modified keyboard on the screen has to go. I don't like the dark part in the middle of each key as I have a hard time reading it. Switching back to the mun custom keyboard (easier on my eyes)

Has anyone managed to rip this apart yet? I think faria has made this ROM so it is very difficult to backward engineer :(
This is probably a fantastic ROM, however there is a lot of stuff in here that I just don't want and would prefer to remove and replace with my own stuff.
Now before you say 'well use the Faria kitchen and his base ROM' I have two reasons for this - Office 2007 and my ongoing L2TP/IPSec VPN issue.

I have installed this ROM on my spare Wizard and L2TP/IPSec VPN seems to work all the time without any of the 'bodges' I have had to do to get it intermittently working in my own ROM (well in my half hour of testing it does, which is much more than any other WM6 ROM I have tried so far, including the Faria base ROM).

If someone can tell me what changes were made to get L2TP/IPSec VPN working in this ROM then I am happy to apply them to my own ROM to test, however I have a feeling I will still have issues as I think this may be a deeper problem? If that's the case I would like this ROM in a kitchen form so I can add and remove my own stuff. Any chance?

Thanks

AndyYou might have a problem there... Faria doesn't use RGU's, he's evolved past that. I'll have to look and see if I can do anything with it with my kitchen, not sure if I have his latest. And no, I can't share, sorry.

I DO know that Faria was forced into this "lockdown" to protect his sources... I'll say no more.

Just flashed to the new Faria... no probs at all so far
Thanks!
Will let you know how it goes for TMobile with the 2.40.11 radio

First Impressions from last few hours

I get a faster, stronger signal with this ROM + 2.40.11 radio than I did before with 'the real thing' ROM - it's at least 1 bar stronger and faster.. and it automatically went to the Cingular connection when my TMobile connection got lost - found the tower pretty fast too

The annoying 'lose GPRS/Edge connection' that seemed to happen out of nowhere (especially after losing a phone signal) is gone, and the phone automatically reconnects (where before I'd have to soft-reset a lot)

I have on average 27-28Megs free on boot-up.. and things seem like they run much faster

Battery status is the newest beta and seems 'stabler'. Today Agenda was missing but easily reinstalled. Live search is also not in but easily reinstalled as well.. most of the other important stuff is around 'total cmd, task manager, regedit

***Activesync.lnk got moved under office mobile and is somehow the wrong one (16b).. this is easily fixable by 'deleting' the activesync.lnk file currently, and coping the 'async.lnk' file from \windows\async.lnk instead***

Only complaint is I can't stand the keyboard :)

Oh!? guess I'll play around with the other rom for the time being since I really can't deal with a rom that I don't personalize anymore :p I hope faria gets some free time soon to work on this. He will be releasing a kitchen for this right Dr P.?

I love this rom except for a few things that drive me nuts. First, when looking at the initflashfiles.dat, its a mess, now I know I cant expect faria to be all organized, but I kinda like knowing what Im looking at. Also, smartskey, I need to know how to remove it. LOL. It drives me nuts that when you stop it the keys on the front just above the direction buttons dont work. hmmm..... All the other apps are nice to have, but I think i have alot of cleaning to do lol.

Excellent rom, the speed is probably the fastest rom I tried up to date. Stable, haven't had any freeze up or troubles with this rom *cross my fingers*. I disable HTC x-button due to the problem issue in version 1.5. My computer shows it as HTC Hermes just saw that now, on my explorer haha.. Install all my custom programs, and still very stable, which is rare for windows mobile 6, just having the rom itself runs fine, when you start to install lots of appz, things starts to act up, but so far very good.

Thanxs faria's for another great rom.

here is my attempt at the faria theme. Seems to be an issue with the basehue though. always goes back to the default. someone wanna help me figure that one out.

Ok, I just flashed after using my tools to take this rom apart and fix the async.lnk issue. Also, I removed smartskey, never knew what it did and when i turned it off it caused issues. as for evolving past the rgu files, maybe he put them all in the default.hv and users.hv to conserve space. he is faria and he is definately smarter than I so i wouldnt put it past him. he is a damn genius. lol.

After you enter the IP address or DNS name of the Terminal Server you wish to connect to the status shows 'Connecting. . .', however it just sits there. If you click 'Stop' and close the application, it fails to run again until you soft reset. I have verified with a PC connected to the same Wireless AP that it can connect to the Terminal Server.

i had this problem, but soft resetting solved it, and also try moving the button beside the commmanager, upwards, that should do the trick, the volume is set to 0 during calls

Hi thanks.

Your right though the volume was set at zero, have moved it up.
I have tried quite a few soft resets, but the problem still remains.

Try a hard reset.
The volume controls what you here not your voice.
Let us know if this helps

Hi Cing

Yes the Hard Reset seems to have resolved the issue, just need to try a few more phone calls, etc... to be sure.

Many thanks.

After the hard reset and stopping Battery Status, eveything is running well (battery, speed, etc...)

A2DP is nicely integrated, volume sounds louder, BUT seems to be a bit more distortion at the top end.

Only remaining issue is my phone does not display missed calls anymore ???

I've been testing the other roms that are based on this 'official Wizard' rom for the past week. And while these roms are good stable roms, they don't seem to benefit from the extra speed that this one does. Has anyone else experienced the same?

Does this ROM have the AKU 3.3 GSM stack just like Faria's "real deal" ?

I've tried every rom listed in this forum over the last few month's. This rom is by far the fastest and most stable. I think I can stop flashing, unless Faria adds a new rom!!!

Thanks Faria and Dr. P

In the last week or so I have moved from this ROM, to XDA6, NBD7 and TNT2.0 and finally cam back to this ROM, which i'll be staying with (for now), its fast enough, very stable, only issue I came across was the calculator does not launch from the icon.

Hi guys

Has anybody had any bluetooth connectivity issues, with cars in particular, I can pair with the device but then nothing.
Been to the car dealer this morning, with no success.

It worked fine with this ROM, and then just went, I did make the A2DP imrpovement tweaks.

Any ideas ?

For some reason I can't change my theme to ones I load on my 8125. I've downloaded and installed the x-button 1.0 cab, copied the themes into both \Themes and into \Windows, but I can't get my themes to work. I *can* change to any of the themes that were loaded in the rom though, just not to ones that I put on.

Any ideas? I'm stumped.

Thanks,

David

I take it this is the rom faria was talking about in his wizard final rom with kitchen thread. I posted in there to find out is he has released it already.

I'm in no way an expert here.... just out of curiosity, try copying your tsk's to My Documents or the root of your SD card and see if they become visible? (all of my add-on themes are in the root of my SD card.... ready immediately after a fresh flash ;) )

Good Luck and let me know how it goes :)

Actually, I'm using the one released in this thread. I think, but not sure, that this is more or less the same rom that Faria used in the "Wizard Final Rom with kitchen" thread. I haven't been brave enough to try to cook my own yet, but I probably will one of these days.

Wolverine,

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I've read that there's a problem with xbutton 1.5 that might cause this, so I installed xbutton 1.0 over top of the 1.5 that's built in to the ROM. However it might not be able to overwrite all the stuff in the rom.

Has anybody been able to rebuild the faira ROM version. It's great and fast, but still some programs I dislike very much.. (mobile secretary, wm5torage, X-button and smartkey).

I use some other simmulair programs. But I haven't been able to remove these without succes.

Faria, I hope you are not agry for asking, I do like your work especially in the beginning of WM5 and WM6.

only issue I came across was the calculator does not launch from the icon.

I've just stumbled across this too. I copied the \windows\MobileCalculator.exe file to \windows\Calculator.exe (which I'm guessing pulls it out of "rom" and into "ram" / flash) and re-pointed the .lnk at the new file and it works okay.

I'm so not clever enough to work out why it wouldn't run straight out of "rom"... ;)

so was this faria's last official rom release for the wizard? says he is back, but i dont want to bother him with pm's im sure he gets enough. I'd like to upgrade from faria's wm5 3.3 which is amazing, but dont want to reflash soon if he releases another rom.

Jose's been really busy with life things, etc. He's starting to cook new Hermes ROMs but I'm not sure if he'll be able to spend much time cooking a new Wizard ROM.
