*NOTE for peace of mind can we please not post anything about unlocking and/or bashing other "cookers" as fun as it is.. for once lets TRY to keep at least 1 wm6 thread clean..please?!*
a little quick info on this rom.. this is apprently a build of wm6 made for the wizard. it was dumped from a phone that was updated by ms techs at a show.. its build date is from aug 06 now remember this is the newest official wizard build!
mfrazzz has been kind enough to post his "remake" of this rom without the devauth
* pulled out the wmudogfood & qa packages (dogfood phone home type packages)
* replaced oemoperators with faria's version
* compressed office 2003
* removed voice command
* added some packages and tweaks i did with crossbow reloaded (mms, alttab, total commander, faria's camera, pocket rar, smartskey, notepad, etc).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
mezozoy has also posted his "remake" of this rom and this is what he offers
disabled devauth- should be working ok.
http://rapidshare.com/files/35292253/15342.zip.html
this is just os part- no radio, no splash, no extrom- just os.
what i discovered so far:
reported version 5.2.318 (build 15342.0.0)
the good:
about 46mb storage, 29mb ram available.
fast, very fast- at least while it's clean.
wi-fi driver tnetwln.dll is a module (not a file as in all other custom wm6s) with wpa2 support.
a2dp works ok- at least for me.
the bad:
no voip support (not sure how useful it is anyway).
commmanager supports just 7 buttons.
office old (not 2007).
don't see any oem stuff, i.e. htc camera, mms, java etc- just ms voice command.
so far it's running fine on my 8125.
p.s. thank you the-equinoxe for the tip about devauth.!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MODERATOR EDIT TO CORRECT KEY
little note; incase devauth wasnt fixed here is how you fix it yourself .. mfrazzz has apprently already fixed this but just incase one of you guys are cooking on a non-fixed dump
* go to OEM\OEMDrivers
* right click on a8686a75-290c-42db-9203-548c9cb17e08.rgu and select properties. uncheck the read only box and click ok
* open a8686a75-290c-42db-9203-548c9cb17e08.rgu with notepad (not some other tool, but use notepad unless you know what you are doing)
* find devauth and remove that key (look back on page 8 or so of this thread to see the exact key to remove from this file)
* do a file->save as (not a save) and change the file type to any files (instead of .txt) and then click ok. it will prompt you about overwriting the exisiting. say yes.
* right click on a8686a75-290c-42db-9203-548c9cb17e08.rgu and select properties. check the read only box and click ok
devauth is now off and you are ready to build and flash...

Thanks for setting this thread up. Didn't realize you had done that when I responded in the other thread... (man thats confusing)...
One point of clarification... Faria's ROM did NOT come from the dump we got in that other thread. Faria has had this rom himself for over a month (Dr. P has been running it for at least a month). My comments were that it appears to be from the same build, but his is definetly a ROM that he's taken apart and put back together in the Faria style.
So in short, it appears to have come from the same build (based on the numbers and dates in it) but its not from the same dump we got that the other thread is based around.

Hey mfrazzz, how should we see this rom? As your Reloaded 1.7.1 Beta 2 or as Reloaded 1.8? Or are you planning to do your fantastic work on this one and indeed name it Crossbow Reloaded 1.8. Untill then i'll stick with your Reloaded 1.5.

Im running both faria and the clean one ive been working on. They both have the same issue. When you run an application, normally it will create a shortcut to the application on the start menu under recent programs. hope that helps. dont know how else to describe it.

Yep same here. The recent programs get populated fine. In the Faria one, it doesn't have the app that clears it out, so I noticed after a soft reset my list of recent is still there. In the one I built from the dumped one, it works too, and they get cleared out after each soft reset (since I have the startclean.exe setup).

This was a quick test. I wouldn't even call it Beta, but an Alpha version. I just wanted to look at this since people were saying it was quick, and my real goal was to prove this was just a slight variation on the Faria Vanilla Crossbow rom in his kitchen. Well, much to my amazement, it wasn't and its faster, more stable, has more memory, and seems to be very good with battery usage... So I'll work on a new real rom off of this one, but I don't know when (I shouldn't even be in these forums today as I have so much work to do, but this rom really has my interest piqued).
Note: Unless we can do more compression in here (and after Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 I'm a little gun shy of doing too much), I don't know how much extra apps can go in this rom. But if it gives us a stable base with low battery usage, I'm willing to live with installing stuff from cabs... ;)

For rar (or any other archive really) give 7-Zip a try instead.
Fast, lean, free and supports ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, LZH, CHM, GZIP, BZIP2, Z, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB.

Okay, I'm uploading the kitchen now. It has minimal compression at this point, so it should be transparent to what's already out. Only transcriber and office is compressed - which have already proven working in other builds.
For legacy reasons, I moved a couple folders around to make the OEM package universal to either OS Base (1413 or 318), so don't expect the OEM pack to work in your kitchen.
Edit: they're posted in the kitchen thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1271883#post1271883)

when you strip the cab, is there an .xml file? That's the only way I've seen the mms stuff get set... otherwise, not sure...:(

Yeah, but how do i get to incorporate that? I would love to use that rather than doing what I am doing now to faria's rom. LOL

you coulod add it to the xml in mfrazzz's folder in OEM - the 'fake' extended rom setup... since it's already there.

If you copy over a set of 4 office folders, replace the .rgu file in the Office folder with this, and you won't have the cert issue.
After the first or second boot, you'll have an extra icon in the office folder, but after a reset it'll disappear.

Just got back from TechEd 2007. (I am sitting in the Phoenix airport waiting for my connecting flight) My head is swimming with Microsoft acronyms.
I also put my vote in for mfrazzzz to name the ROM xm6. I personally would extend it a little further ...
xM6.[Microsoft sub build].[mfrazz build]. So the up and coming build would be:
xM6.0.1
A "standard" naming of ROMs would sure help the hell outta me in determining which is the latest and greatest. Maybe for that reason, we could do something like this:
xM6.0.1z where "z" is short for mfrazzz. Faria would be something like:
xM6.0.1f
etc.
Thoughts?

Being one to jump in head first into just about everything, I went into this one with the usual vigor (once mfrazzz got interested, anyway :) )
With the office cert and other basic function issues behind us, this is shaping up very nicely - I'd almost have to say as good or better than the 1413 version (and that's hard for me to say...).
My only gripe is poor space utilization in the OS. I can only get a few items in the build - and while I can use an extended rom to automate the install, it doesn't resolve the issue that I have to use my storage space for programs that I was able to put into the 1413 rom.
GPS users note - the icon is in the settings page - and works!
Thanks to everyone who helped get this rom out, especially InGeNeTiCs and mfrazzz!

the taura/bull (something not like that:D, but i hope you know who i mean) mod deleted it citing that the three different rom versions in one thread is confusing, and probably also because after page 0.5 it went off topic (he only wanted mms set up)

In case you haven't seen, I've released XDA Mobile 6 (XM6) in a seperate thread. This replaces the test rom I released here (although thats a nice small rom after you do a couple of fixes). Link for XM6 is in my sig.
@jacob-mda - Congrats on the 8525 and best wishes...

318 is "older" in the sense that it is an older build of the OS (era August '06), however, it was the "latest" release that was designed specifially for the Wizard.
1413 (era January '07) was ported over from another platform.

After that I installed SipConfigTool.cab
Rebooted and it's on the todayscreen...

I did too, but it just wouldn't turn on after I entered my dialplan. I'm pretty sure I know why. I'm working on some OEM packages and one of the files was not playing nicely with cprog.

Well, you found me out. ;)
I did delete the thread after I was told that all pertinent info and files were moved to this thread. This was in an effort to keep this topic clean (since it would become more of a technical thread).
We're also trying to figure out ways to trim up a lot of these forums to remove ... well... junk. It'll make searching and browsing a whole lot easier for everyone. But, how to go about it all is another story. :D

just did some serious digging in the OS, and looks like the space issue might be resolved - no compressing required (so no stability issues like we've seen). If so (testing now), i'll post the process. Here's what I'm flashing right now (with a stripped version mfrazzz's base rom as a starting point):
Transcriber
Enterprise
Standard Games
Office 2007
Windows Live
BtCrawler
BT_FTP
MMS
Voip
VSD
WMP
HTC Audio Man
HTC WMP Today plugin
Adobe LE
Battery Status
Frequency Tuner 1.5
PIM Backup 1.9
GSFinder
Gif Animation
X Button
Notepad
PocketRar
ShutXP
Redial
SmartKey
Start Clean
Task Manager
Total Commander
WM5torage
Zip
Zom SMS
Call2Contact 1.0
TodayAgenda
Camera 3.0 (full screen)
1-Calc Lite
DinarSoft MemMaid
MobiReader
Custom Keyboard Skin
Mobile Justice
PHM Reg Editor
Plus a bunch of reg tweaks.
Gimme a few to put it through the paces, but it looks damn solid.
Update: working great - but need to either fix 8 button or put the 10 button back on.

Ok OK I am a little confused... how can this be a "newer" build than OS 5.2.1413(Build 17913.4.0.01) When the copyright says 2006 with this build, but the 17913 version copyright say 2007?!???

they are the same build, so naturally they should have the same date, unless someone edited the rom version date.

you are right, 1413 is a later build, but it was ported over from another platform. This 318 is the last one (we know of) that was specific for the Wizard.

Well I think it would have to be able to leap tall buildings with a single-bound, before I would think of flashing it, over the Pandora Kitchen cooked Core Pro "Reheated ROM" I am currently running!! I can not believe how stable/fast it is!! And awesome battery!! Plus, I have not missed one call....

I basically transported the entire OEM folder over from the ROM above and cooked it w/this version of Crossbow. You know what? Almost flawless! The only things I removed were Cyberon voice dial and Westtek Clear Vue PDF viewer to get the size down. This was about as clean-cut of an operation as I could get. I will have to do some work to get the phone settings screen to close when you hit the X and one or two reg keys need to be fixed, and I may even graft on the T-mob US extended ROM to finish it off, since I'm a T-mob customer in the states. We'll see, but I like it so far.
