Base ROM Information
The base rom was a "dogfood" Wizard WM6 ROM that was part of testing of WM6 inside of Microsoft.
This is an actual Wizard WM6 ROM, not stripped from another device and reworked until it runs on the Wizard.

ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date: 08/11/06
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
ExtROM version: Faria V5.0
There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM.

Requirements
You MUST have an IPL and SPL at 2.xx or higher (BOTH not just one or the other).

You MUST be running ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP (Vista comes with the correct sync utility, although there have been issues reported about Vista and sync'ing with PPC's so be aware of that).

Before you attempt to upgrade to this ROM, Please follow this thread to learn how to flash roms and CID unlock, and how to fix issues you may run into! It is also recommended that you flash your phone with a Windows XP computer and not Vista. It will work with Vista, but if you run into problems Vista can't talk to a phone in Bootloader mode!

Recomendations:
It is HIGHLY Recommended that you flash back to an official rom before upgrading to this (or any) custom rom so you have a clean base (and correct any Extended ROM corruption you might have). G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release. G3 users can use T-Mobile 2.26 for a good base.

It is STRONGLY recommended that you use the T-Mobile 2.19 UK Radio (this is a must for Cingular/AT&T customers). Newer Radio versions tend to have missed calls and SMS messages (just like with all other WM6 ROMs). G4 users need to do their research for flashing splash screens, radio's etc.

I've been using it ever since it was released to the Sbsh forum members. We always get to try out new "releases" to report bugs before they're offered to the general public. I've been using it instead of phone alarm . . . much easier on the memory resources and doesn't take up much real estate on the screen. :)

BTW -- I'd LOVE to BETA test the Titanium ROM. . . looks like it's right up my alley

What radio versions are you using? IT's been found the only reliable radio version with these wm6's is 2.19.11 Tmobile UK

When I had missed calls the phone had stopped working and I didn't know it until I tried to make a call. once I rebooted I had messages (voice mail) but if they didn't leave a message there was no indication. Same as if the phone had been turned off.

Hmmm. This looks like it has potential. One thing as much as I like PhoneWeaver I don't think you should include it built into the ROM. If the user doesn't want it they have no way to delete it. Plus I'm not sure how Amit @ SBSH looks on it being included in a custom build that is being distributed. Just my 2 cents.

I've asked this before, but never received an answer, maybe because they thought I was joking, but:

How do I know if I have missed calls........?

I'd just call my voicemail and check messages. Never got any notifications of these phantom missed calls or voicemails. I think I was using a 2.25 radio though. 2.19 doesn't miss them? Thats weird how an older version works better with a newer os. since this one is an official wizard wm6, i was wondering if it had an official wm6 radio, but giving the pictures a closer look i see the 2.19 there.

Can you please post screenshots for the dialer? Is it using the cool new dialer featured in WM6 BLACK shadow?

If so, can you also please supply the cab file for just the dialer skin. I would be more than happy to jump on the bandwagon for beta testing :)

I did a search and looked on the Wiki, but I didn't have much luck finding a thread for this radio version. Can anyone recommend a thread for this radio?

Edit: Alternatively, my G4 Wizard has radio 02.07.10. Is that suitable for this ROM?

Inneyeseakay, can I ask what model Wizard you have, is it a G3 or a G4? I ask because I notice another WM6 official based release (XM6) has problems with ShellTool (freezes during the download process), so I was wondering if you have encountered this with your device.

G3, haven't tried flashing to G4 so I can't say yes or no.

I am working on getting this thing uploaded, rapidshare disconnect last night during the download, I am doing this on dialup and have two jobs and a 4 month old daughter, I am trying as hard as I can to get this up and running!

ummm just flashed it and seems I can't close out of my phone menu by oressing on the X at the top right. It gave me an error message and wanted me to send report to MS.. How ever the end call button on the phone close the phone app for me. still testing. will post more if I find more bugs

edit: My city is not listed in the weather option, how do Iget it there.. Sacramento area.

I got an error too while trying to close out the phone menu....a reset fixed it and phone closes instantly. ROM seems fast. Will continue to test and post more later.

another bug.. core player doesn't seem to re-open once you open it already. After a soft reset, core player launches fine. Close core play and then re-launching it just gave me a quick wheel spin and nothing happens.

This rom seemed to also fixed my bluetooth audio with my Sony Mex-BT2500 cat stereo head unit. Other roms keep giving me an annoying high pitch noise in the background from my car's speakers.

the phone app thingy not close was solved by installing the new htc phone pad dialer..

Waiting for Nstefanelli to finish his 2nd version of wm6 pro while I'm testing this ROM.

This is the fastest rom I've found and most compitable with the touch plugins for my wizard. Very nice job on the rom.

One thing I encountered after flashing was shell32.exe throwing an error. I disabled error reporting and all has been fine. Might have just been the multiple cabs I was installing without reseting.

i think this is a bug rather related to coreplayer than to the rom : i had the exact same bug under WM5. when closing the app you can notice there is still a player.exe process running, i had to kill it (with memmaid) to be able too re-launch coreplayer. for that reason i removed coreplayer and went back to TCPMP, much light and faster !

I'm currently using the core2.0n ROM + all HTC touch apps. At first I did not notice really anoying lags with just theme and touday plugin install, but when I added the dialer+comm manager this became extremely sloooooow...

can't wait to try that ROM, just need some free time :cool:

Yes, I encountered the same thing with the phone not closing on first run, after disabling error reporting and rebooting the device everything seems to run smooth now. I don't use core player so I can't attest to that. Report any other bugs you find though. Hope you guys are enjoying it!

Will hopefully be releasing v2.1 (with the TOUCH dialer and error reporting disabled) sometime next week.

I agree about coreplayer...I had the same thing happen on other ROMs (Core 2, Crossbow)...therefore it's not the ROM.

So what's really new in this ROM, rofl. Letting ya know X Button 1.51 works great with "certain" ROMs and doesn't have any issues with themes.
Oh and nVidia used to make GeForce3 Ti200 and Ti500 (Titanium) video cards :D so next time try a more original name for your ROm's :D

Somehow with this ROM I don't see any weather bitmaps on the 4 days forecast pane ? I don't know why. I do see the "local" forecast bitmap properly.

Otherwise I concur with everyone else; this rom *is* as fast as a vanilla, with the touch software included. Quite nice !

In that case as most of the touch software has been updated in the last days, a new repack is in order!
Please add the Ecmertec Java in the rom when you're at it :)

I have been using A2DP with my SouthWing headset and works as good as, if not better, than with Faria's Vanilla WM6 :D

You know that having a bigger page spool & some file system cache actually increase the general responsivity of the whole system?

I used to want maximum RAM, closing apps all the time. In the end, it takes longer to restart them, and the system never caches anything so navigating through menus or programs is just slower.

Overall i love this rom, its really stable and fast and ive tried just about all of them. The only thing that bothers me is that theres no Windows Media Player and i dont like the Camera Program, the orginal program seemed just fine and the new one dosnt even allow you to turn on the flash. But once again i love this rom.

ah... so thats why my mp3 and wmv cant play when i tap it. I didnt notice it until i saw this post. Y stripping out the WMP? And totally agree with the camera program.... cant do much with it...

Still very stable. There are cabs for mms/operator settings. The HTC audio app/plugin is a lot better quality than wmp in my opinion, so im glad that's gone but the camera app does smoke bawls no way to change ambience. Only thing it's missing in my opinion.

First i tried installing with directly but then it gave the old installer error.
then i tried putting .nbf file in shell tool directory.. and it flash it well.. but after hard reset its stuck on the O2 screen showing. IPL and SPL versions... so G4 guys.... have a back up before your try this.. and.. hope someone will come up with work around to have this rom on G4 device

Yes, It is best to reboot it to clear the error you get when closing cprog.exe (Phone App)... The notifications must be turned off via a RegEdit (will be in Ti3) and I never use MMS and it saved a good bit of storage mem, so there is no MMS.

I installed this without reading this entire thread and was shocked and amazed at the lack of MMS support. That is just about the only thing that I didn't like about Ti2 so far, so I'd hope to either see a cab to add the support in or have that in Ti3. Till then, its back to another ROM for me :(

Hehe, I am using a G4 wizard and had no issues installing this ROM. Runs extremely well compared to the Faria ROM I previously had installed. Although I am having issues with the camera, it doesnt go into the normal camera mode when in use. I dont get the normal controls after snapping a picture, ie. email, send, save, and so forth.

All in all though, really good ROM!

A few tweaks to the rom you should include in your next build is...
1. GPS to connections menu
2. HTC Camera
3. HTC Touch Dial Pad
4. MMS Support
5. Remove Cerf Prompt when installing files
6. The rom in general is missing alot of features from all the other WM6 builds... Missing Windows Live, Time Sync option in settings... those are the few important ones... but there are alot of little differences...

Thinking of going back to my old rom till these problems are fixed

This Rom runs great, there are some tweaks necessary, but overall it runs great.

Missing apps are (not yet mentioned I believe) : contacts backup, and taskmgr.

TaskMgr is great, it is a task manager, registry editor and more.

But I am impressed How fast it runs, now that homeplug, AudioManager and commManager is integrated instead of installed by a cab.

inneyeseakay please make sure you use the 2a version of my reTOUCHed dialer, instead of version 2.

the rom is great. the only thing im having a problem with the ringtones. i might receive a text message and it wont play the ring tone i have and thats the same as the incoming call. its on loud and everything i have everything set. is anybody else having this problem? and is there a fix?

Still very stable. There are cabs for mms/operator settings. The HTC audio app/plugin is a lot better quality than wmp in my opinion, so im glad that's gone but the camera app does smoke bawls no way to change ambience. Only thing it's missing in my opinion.

Agree that the quality is better in HTC audio, but WMP is kindda like a whole; video and mp3 player. Thats y i kindda miss it. Other than that, this rom work just fine. i havent test out GPRS/EDGE though. Mine is Malaysian telco, so i am not sure if the GPRS can connect using this ROM.

As stated in previous posts, Wizards running WM6 have issues with missed calls / mms / voicemail notifications. You should download the T-Mobile 2.19UK Radio and install it.

Hit the link in my signature, and look for it in the list of downloads. You can install it onto a G3 or G4 device without any special tools, just run the .exe file.

Hi all, I have an Italian Wizard (I-Mate) an tried to upgrade it.

Anyhow the firmware seems to get loaded but ... once the unit restarts nothing has changed.

This Phone is full of crappy stuff of the Operator ... can it be the cause? I have used the no ID installer ... using the Italian Carbonara Rom set too.

What should I do ?

Love this so much! I have one issue though. On the home screen where it has a scroll bar for things like Music player/tasks/calander/user info - if I try to scroll down it keeps jumping back to the top of the list which makes it unusable.

Any fix for this?

I'm using this on my Cingular 8125 and LOVE IT! Just one question though regarding the weather plugin... is there anyway to set it with a zip code instead of having to select a city?

One other thing, the 8125 has a camera with a light, is there a way to turn the light on? I looked but couldn't find anything.

I found a solution to wma files
just by copying wmplayer.exe to the windows folder every thing gone so good
now I can use mort player which in my openion is one of the best audio players

Hi, I'm having a problem with shell32.exe after loading this rom and I was wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing?

I have a G3 T-Mobile MDA. I followed the instructions and got the WM6 loaded and it is beautiful and works great except for this problem.

I am using the 3.08 IPL/SPL and the 2.69.11 radio. So far no radio problems that I have seen.

The only additional app I have loaded is the Microsoft Business Contacts For Pocket PC (release 3.0.6321.0 - latest version that supports Windows Mobile 5+). That also seems to be functional and working great. ActiveSync is syncing it and all my business contacts came over beautifully.

Oh and late last night I loaded the NoviiRemote trial software because we lost our remote (hijacked by little ones and hidden somewhere in the house) and I wanted to watch something that the up-down button on the front of my TV can't get to! But this problem was already there before I loaded that...

So the problem is that it gets in a mode where I get infinite errors that say "A problem has occured with shell32.exe". As soon as I finish going through the screens for the error, it pulls another shell32.exe error instantly. The only way to get back in a functional state is a soft reset. This has happened multiple times today.

I haven't noticed anything in particular that starts this problem. Also, I don't have any email configured. There is nothing automatically downloading and I haven't received any text messages today (I'm not a big texter).

Any thoughts or ideas?

What are your similarities/differences with my environment? Are you using either of the apps I mentioned? Is your phone an MDA or one of the other versions of the Wizard? Are you using the same IPL/SPL or the same radio? Any details can maybe help figure out where it is coming from.

I've seen some instability in the today screen. I unselected the following:

HTC Home
Wireless
Music Plug-in
Owner Info
Tasks

Everything else is selected. Here is the order I have things set up in:

Date
Messaging
Calendar
BatteryStatus
Device Lock
TodayAgenda

I like the weather display but it takes up most of the real estate and you can't move it to the bottom so I had to unselect it.

But I've been playing with it, selecting it and unselecting it at different times to see what the weather says.

At one point after I deselected HTC Home and went back to the today screen, the BatteryStatus section was blanked out. I scrolled up and down, and when it came back into view, I had two Device Locks. But the one that was displayed in place of the BatteryStatus didn't actually lock the device when selected.

This only happened once.

bigteks & sintax: I'm not sure what to tell you, I never had that error and don't have a Wizard anymore to try and recreate it. Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help.

sintax: Touch-Flo is not included and I have not kept up with the Touch files progress, so I am not sure whether or not they have a cab for it yet.

bigteks: I believe this is a glitch in BatteryStatus, not the rom. I have had this problem in just about every ROM I ever ran with the latest version of BS, just turn [batteryStatus] off, then back on and everything clears up. This only happens with modifying Today screen items.

sintax: A simple soft reset will clear up the WiFi problem, again, not just a problem with this ROM, several of the WM6 roms do the same thing. I believe it was mfrazzz that told me that it was due to a problem with WiFi being ON during a soft reset causes it not to want to turn on, but another soft reset clears it right up. (I'm not sure if that's the real cause, but I know the solution works.)

ok, im just a noob. i figured out how to manually set up all the gprs stuff. now i have an issue with the weather. i found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315723&highlight=HTC+Home+Plug-In) that describes how to update the xml file, but it is protected because it is part of the rom. is there a way around this, or am i stuck with weather from 100 miles away?

Well i must say that even though you removed the MMS and WMP it is an awesome ROM! i found and loaded the MMS and it still didn't take anything of my storage and no loss in speed. You have indeed created a very fast rom. One problem though...where can i get the cab file for windows media mobile as i am not too fond of the HTC audio manager?

I would just like to add on to the appriciation to this rom. I've been using this for a month now ever since i fixed my phone from a failure in unlockin it. so pretty much this is the first wm6 rom i used ever or upgrade. but its great. love the htc touchflo theme.

great job. my phones a little slow but i think thats due to the mp3s on my memory card and programs. did all tweaks.

Ok, please feel free to flame me... I have scoured the forums for help on this...

Why would a CID unlocked Wiz200 (formerly T-mobile) keep booting/flashing into the original T-mobile rom?

1. IPL,SPL are all 2.26, GSM = 2.25.11, OS = 2.26.02.- CHECK.

2. Did a Lokiwiz unlock- CHECK.

3. Followed instructions for WM6Ti RUU upgrade procedure- CHECK.
3.1 Start into bootloader mode (3 color bars).
3.2 Ran RUU on XP. Everything goes to 100%.

4. Keeps booting/loading into original Tmobile rom????

Did this 2 times just to make sure I was not crazy. Running XP w/ Async4.5 on laptop.

Question- will the RUU show 100% even if the device is actually not CID unlocked? I thought it would fail?

Any help/flaming/etc would be greatly appreciated.

ok i know how much you guys hate repeats in the same blog but i really am stumped and not finding any solutions(the noob in me):p . i need to know where i can get a cab of wmplayer or smething to replace it THAT will auto-recognize the mp3,wma,wav files so i'm not stuck waitting for 3 ras minutes just to edit my music collection on my card(when not sync'd). I have been reading about this "mortplayer" but dunno if it will do the job i'm looking for?

Can anyone brave enough to take on my problem please assist:D

Hi fellas, I have the titanium Windows6 on my MDA, I am unable to play *.WMV or MP3 on it..
Basically i couldnt find the Media Player at all..
However, I am able to play MP3 via the Phone Ringer (by selecting the Ring Tones) PLEASE HELP.
Unfortunately I cannot download the same from Microsoft Site as it says all phones come with this application. :((

Harishps, i got the same error when I ran lokiwiz...

What I found was that it is because the cid unlock failed. You need to back-up a rom version. Download "Buttons" rom to down-grade your rom. Load that rom, re-run lokiwiz and it should succeed this time. You are now cid unlocked and can load any rom you want.

That seems to be correct. I took the plunge, reset to the T-Mobile 2.26, then flashed this version. Best interface I have used. Also, I was FINALLY able to use my local wi-fi, and it correctly syncs with my Exchange 2003 SP2. Great internet surfing as well.

Please don't laugh; for about a year, I have not been able to take much advantage of my phone. I don't have cell service when I get to the front of the building, and I could not make it work over wi-fi. I was able to sync with Activesync and my desktop (but this is not working with a 85010001 error, but who cares now?)

The only thing I have noticed is several shell32.exe failures. The screen seems to hang when closing a program (not necessarily the same one each time it has happened), then I get the error report. The phone seems to recover nicely, though, and go about its merry way.

I am looking forward to re-entering the connect zone of T-Mobile tomorrow, to see how the cellular service performs. If there is a problem with that, I am likely to go out and shoot myself. I don't see how I could ever go back.

I this a known bug? If I power off my MDA, the clock resets itself back to Aug 4, 2006 at midnight. Consistently.

I am not getting the shell32.exe errors any longer, but I have had the phone freeze up a few times (hence discovering the clock error).

Any suggestions for a dummy?

Hi all - I'm a newbie; no tech skills; came here from a t-mobile users group, seeking a windows 6 installer for my MDA. Never expected to see something above and beyond that. What a stunning design.

REDUNDANT QUESTION #1: Is this safe for a newbie like me to handle -- if I use windows XP, the most current active sync, and follow your rules re unlocking, and using the correct starting ROM on my phone?

3 months ago when people were first talking about W6 for the t-mobile Dash, but not for the MDA, I read many different solutions for hacking windows6 onto MDA, but hthose had like 25 step instrcutions, and major disclaimers about "if you fail to do xyz, you will brick your phone".

What I'm not clear about is this: Is having a ROM installer file a totally different "beast" than follwing some line by line instruction set? Is having a ROM file a "set and forget" installer that exceutes everyting it needs to do?

Is there a percentage of users who HAVE bricked their MDAs after using an installer like these, or so far have you had full success reported? (other than those whom I read about who hadn't corrcetly unlocked their phones first).

Has anyone here seen a successful "iphone-like" user interface rom for MDA?

Specifically including the iphone-style slider-lock/unlock -- and also the contacts browser which uses finger controls. I am not speaking of any of the higher end features which aren'e even avail off the iphone/AT&T combo, such as visual voicemail... but just the overal basic icon-based and finger-touch interface. About two months ago when iphone was relased, I saw numerous YouTube clips where people were demo'ing an iphone-type interface on an MDA.

But they were just prototyping then -- and not clear if anyone has a fully functioning MDA/Wizard with that type of interface running on it?

I had never done anything with a phone before, although I am somewhat technical in other areas. Just follow the instructions, and I can assure you it works and works well.

Be sure to unlock your phone first. Just flash the button verion (in the instructions to download), download the locwiz.exe program (see my comments on this thread), reflash the T-Mobile ROM 2.26 from their web site, then flash this one. YOu will be up and running. Total time for me with a couple of do overs was aibout 50 minutes.

Ich hab nach der Anleitung [READ FIRST] The Definitive Guide to Unlocking & Rom Upgrading G3 Wizards (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435) mein XDA MINI S cid-unlocked und den dort erwähnten T-Mobile-ROM aufgespielt. Es hat alles wunderbar geklappt. Nun wollte ich "WM6Titanium_Version2"-ROM aufspielen. Hab alles so gemacht wie gefordert und das Update angeworfen. Er hat noch nicht mal begonnen den Downloadbalken anzuzeigen da kam schon eine Fehlermeldung (leider weiß ich die nicht mehr). Also bin ich den Recoveryschritten gefolgt (USB-Kabel raus, Akku raus und neustarten), es kam kein Bootmenü sondern der T-Mobile Screen da stand dann was von "Format BINFS successful" und "checking os sum". Das ratterte auch alles durch nun hängt er seit 20min bei "format fat success" und "download ext rom" (voller Ladebalken). Wie bekomm ich das wieder hin?

Hey do you guys have the same problem, that tcpmp isnt playing videos smooth on this rom? Even on 272MHz my tcpmp stops playing after ~10 sec and start to load ( i think its loading the video in the framebuffer). After I press play/pause 2 times it's playing again, but again: after 10sec it stops. Somone knows the reason for this?

You didn't READ did you? Since you have a G4, follow the G4 flashing instructions in the G4 subthread under Wizard. If you can get it out of bootloader and reflash, then the phone is ok. If not...

Bump for new members, to my knowledge there is no way to add WMP without rebuilding the ROM. I excluded it to keep the speed and memory up. As everyone said, this ROM is LIGHTNING fast, It's a shame my Wizard got stolen before I had a chance to finish building/testing v2.2.

I also would like to add WMP back in. I am using HyperCore kitchen and I have tried to include SYS\MEDIA_OS and 3 other similarly named SYS packages extracted from the official Cingular ROM. This got WMP icons, associations, and the executable, but when I launch the executable it comes to the skins tab and there are no skins. Assuming that the skins weren't necessary to "play" music (only "navigate"??) I tried playing some music by mousing to some files in the library. Still would not "play" so I tried installing a couple of skins. The skin titles show up in the list, but no images show up. The WMP installed is 10.3, the skins say they are 10.2 compatible. I have reached a point where I don't know how to proceed. Any ideas?
