XDA Mobile 6
Taking You to the Limit
XDA Mobile 6 (XM6 for short) is basically Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 rebuilt on the OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01 rom that was provided to is by InGeNeTiCs from Howard Forums. You can read information on the work being done on this rom in various ways in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310833). Since the Crossbow Reloaded series was based on the Faria Vanilla Crossbow rom in his ROM Kitchen, and this rom is based on a different rom, I felt a new name was in order.
Please remember that this ROM is a product of what _I_ wanted with many inputs from users of the Crossbow Reloaded series, so no complaints about why does this rom have this in it, or why didn't you put this in there. If you don't like how this rom is spiced, then go grab a ROM, put it in one of the many Kitchens now out, and make your own version. I am open to ideas on how to improve the rom so constructive criticism is appreciated (to a point ;)).
Please Note: this ROM was NOT intended to push the limits on speed optimization or memory optimization (although it is significantly better than the Crossbow Reloaded series IMO due to the base rom it came from). It was made to be functional, stable, and something that I myself wanted and will use. I've found it to perform at a better than acceptable level for myself, and so far Battery life seems better than other WM6 ROMs I've tried. If you have Battery Drain issues, make sure you flashed back to an official rom before you upgraded to this one, as that should correct extended rom corruption that has been shown to cause battery draining. BatteryStatus is NOT included in this ROM, as I don't see overclocking as necessary. If you want to overclock, you are welcome to download and install BatteryStatus yourself. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751)
Base ROM Information
The base rom was an "Official" Wizard WM6 ROM that was part of the development cycle of WM6 inside of Microsoft (Dogfood as they call it). The base rom was not a port of another device rom with drivers and stuff pieced and parted onto this one, but this was an actual Wizard WM6.
Windows Mobile 6, OS 5.2.318 Build 15342.4.0.01
ROM Version: 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date: 08/11/06
Protocol: 4.1.13.09
ExtROM version: Faria V5.0
There is no Radio, IPL, SPL or Extended ROM.
What's In XDA Mobile 6?
Office 2007
New 8 Button CommManager (yeah only 8 buttons. If you want more then install one of the many 10 or more button ones :p )
Transcriber
VoIP (See next post for instructions to set this up)
SQLCE
mUn designed onscreen Keyboard
HTC X-Button v1.0 (The new 1.5 version has issues with impacting changes on the Today screen so I'm staying with v1.0) and turned on by default
Mobile Justice (a security app that will send an SMS if an unauthorized SIM is placed in your phone)
TodayAgenda
Notepad editor
Pocket RAR
SIP Config 2.0.1
StartClean
Pocket Screen Capture
HTC Audio Manager
CicleBT (Toggle BlueTooth on and off)
SynchroTime
1-Calc Lite
Total Commander Beta 2.5
WiFiFoFum 2.2.9
PIM Backup to 1.9
Windows Live Search searches via Google
MoDaCo NoData (so you can turn off data sources)
WM5torage 1.73
dotFred TaskManager (with registry editor link)
Smartskey 0.56 (DPAD is set to 0 in the .ini so the up and down scrolling works in the Phone dialer as expected in WM6)
SIM Manager
WM5NewMenu
SMSDRFix
DotFred's SoftKeyAppletEx
DotFred's TaskManager (and registry editor)
WiFiFoFum
Regional Settings default to English (United States) and use a slash for the date seperator (M/dd/yyyy)
Menu sounds work by default
Pressing the "End Call" button does not disconnect GPRS but minimized the active application. Pressing and holding the "End Call" button for about 5 seconds will do a GPRS Disconnect
Internet access over ActiveSync (USB) connection works (You must apply a registry fix on your PC first. See the next post for the fix)
Requirements
You MUST have an IPL and SPL at 2.xx or higher (BOTH not just one or the other).
You MUST be running ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP (Vista comes with the correct sync utility, although there have been issues reported about Vista and sync'ing with PPC's so be aware of that).
Before you attempt to upgrade to this ROM, Please follow this thread to learn how to flash roms and CID unlock, and how to fix issues you may run into! It is also recommended that you flash your phone with a Windows XP computer and not Vista. It will work with Vista, but if you run into problems Vista can't talk to a phone in Bootloader mode!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
Recomendations
I HIGHLY Recommend that you flash back to an official rom before upgrading to this (or any) custom rom so you have a clean base (and correct any Extended ROM corruption you might have). G4 users would flash back to their provider's latest official release. G3 users can use T-Mobile 2.26 for a good base.
If you use BatteryStatus (its NOT included in the rom!) to overclock, I don't recommend overclocking above 260Mhz, and the CPUscaler settings in BatteryStatus should not be set to a min lower than 143MHz (or your device may not wake back up after going to sleep). Personally, I have not tried to overclock this rom due to the performance it already has.
I STRONGLY recommend you use the T-Mobile 2.19 UK Radio (ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Wizard/Radio_Roms/Radio_Only_Thread/T-Mobile-UK_2.19.11_Radio_Only.zip) (this is a must for Cingular/AT&T customers). Newer Radio versions tend to have missed calls and SMS messages (just like with all other WM6 ROMs). G4 users, see the next post on flashing the Splash screens for a tip if you get errors trying to flash the 2.19 Radio ROM.
UPDATE: There appears to be a possible fix for the Radio issue on Cingular. Attached is a cab you can run to implement the change. I've successfully run Cingular 2.25 radio on my phone for 36 hours now with no missed calls or SMS messages. Others have had success with 2.61 radio after doing this fix. You can follow this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312834) (starting around post 9) on this.

Known Issues
For those using ShellTool to flash this rom, Its been reported that shell too does not show that the flashing process has completed for some. Give the flash a good 15 - 30 minutes  to make sure its done before you pull the plug. Those that have done this report that the phone boots fine into XM6.
The new CommManager has a bug where when you press the settings (right softkey) in it, it only shows one item: Wi-Fi Settings, and when you click on it you go to Bluetooth settings. The fixed version of this can be installed with the cab attached to this post. Soft reset the phone, install the cab, and it will soft reset after it completes, and you will have the fixed CommManager (no install of the 10 Button CommManager is required now). Updates to the 8 button CommManager can be followed in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311039).
The link for Midlet Manager is missing (but Midlet Manager is in the rom). To fix this use TotalCommander to create a shortcut in \Windows\Programs that points to \Windows\jmm.exe . Or the other option is to install a newer version of Midlet manager from This Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286604).

How to not have a 24hour Clock (or how to show AM/PM)
This works on all WM6 roms
Go to Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings
Make sure you have the correct Region selected
Click on the Time tab
Click on the drop down box for Time Style
Notice the little up and down arrows? This is a scrolling region in this dropdown. Click the up arrow a couple of times and you'll find h:mm:ss tt
Thats it. Microsoft is amazing at having a 2 line scrolling region on this dropdown. You'd think they would have had at least 3 or 4 lines show up for chosing (and it would be more obvious that its a scrolling region then too).

Connecting WM6 to the Internet via ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP
For those having issues connecting to the internet via Active Sync, cut and paste this code onto your PC in a file called net_over_activesync.reg and run it (on your PC not your phone)

Splash Screens and Splash Only RUU for G4
For G4 users, I've attached a zip file with the Splash Screens of this rom (since you don't get them when you use the shell tool). As I understand it, this is completely safe for a G4 as its nothing but splash screens (no OS, IPL, SPL, Extended ROM, etc, just splash and htc logo screens). I've also placed the .bmp files that make up the splash screen in the zip file so you can see them directly before flashing this. Before anyone asks, yes, the htc logo one is grainy. I had to do that due to size limitations of the file. I tried for a couple of hours to get a nicer version to work but it wouldn't display correctly (seems to have to be pretty low res / non-complex)
If you have problems flashing the above RUU on a G4, then extract this http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=29158&d=1152698784 and pull the nk.nbf file out of the above Splash Screen file and put it into the directory of this one and run this RUU. You can use the same method for flashing the Radio Only ROM (pull the nk.nbf file out of the radio only rom and put it into the directory of this RUU and run it). Thanks anichillus for that link!
Weather Panel Setup
See my post in the Wizard forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307781) on how I setup WeatherPanel. It will give you a fixed dll with correct moon phases through 2008, new/better Moon phase icons, and a cool theme called Chameleon-240 QVGA. I dumped SBSH Pocket Weather after seeing this setup :)
Hermes Black Cabs that may be of Interest
XM6 has Transcriber, VoIP, and Windows Live all integrated in it, but I wanted to point out the Black 3 Add-on CABs file (http://sinisterfrog.com/getblack/Black%203%20Add-on%20CABS.rar) as there are others in it that may be of interest. Included in this file is Cyberon VoiceCommander, Cyberon Voice Dial, VIjay555 utils, and a Slingbox patch (none of these I've tested) and Adobe Reader LE.
10 Button Black CommManager
Some seem to think 10 buttons are better than 8, and some just like the look of the 10 button CommManager over the 8 button one in this rom. So attached to this post is a zip file with the 10 Button Black CommManager. You shouldn't have to use the cert cab file, just run the CommManager one.
Turning off Word Selection
Some people do not like how Windows Mobile tries to suggest words that you may be typing. If you are one of those people, jacob-mda wrote up a post on how to turn it off. Check out This Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311441).
New DialPad to match the CommManager
The EquinoXe was successful at pulling out the dial pad from the HTC Touch and it matches up with the CommManager in XM6 very nicely (see pic attached below). I've attached the CAB to this thread, so if you'd like to use this dialpad, just download and install. Cool!
More info to come, so check back here periodically!

Info on Included Apps
MobileJustice v0.8
MobileJustice is an Anti-theft app that you can configure on your phone. Just go to Start > Programs > Accessories and click on the MJConfig icon (first time in you will get a message that there isn't a config file, just click ok and it will be created). To us this, check the Enabled box, then click Add on the Allowed line. You can then setup your SIM card as an authorized one, and add other SIM cards IMSI numbers if you use more than one. Next click on Add next to Report to: and setup an SMS number (wife, friend, colleague) where you want the text message to go to if an unauthorized SIM is put into your phone. You can add multiple SMS numbers if you want. At this point, your phone will now be setup so that if an unauthorized sim is put in it, then it will send an SMS (with no record of it being sent) to your Report To list on the next boot (you can test this by not setting up (or removing) the Allowed and then doing a soft reset).
For more advanced, you can turn on the Disp MsgBox at the top and then put in some text in the MsgBox text line. This will pop up a Message box on the screen of the phone after a boot, if an unknown sim is in the phone.
You can also enable RMon (bottom half of the screen), put in a pass phrase, and then turn on MsgBox (GPS and LocCall do not work on Wizards, and the other options haven't been implemented in this version). By doing this, you can now send an SMS to your phone in the following format:
+m passphrase message
Rmon will intercept the sms message (so it will not show up as a received message), and if the passphrase matches the one you put in the configuration, then it will pop up a message box on the phone with your message in it (so you can secretly send messages to the thief to possibly intimediate them (or whatever).
The project page for MobileJustice is located at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/mjustice/

I am using the orig. Official WM6 from Ingenetics and have no probs with radio.
Why can't / shouldn't your rom be used with 2.25 radio?
Is it a reg tweak, a program, or something else causing the problem?

Radios other than 2.19.11 are known to cause dialpad issues during calls in WM6.
ex.: If you try to check your voicemail, the keypad won't send tones to erase message. Soft re-set required to continue.
Others have had success with other radios but for the ones who didn't, radio 2.19.11 was the fix. There are write-ups about it all thru the site.

You're welcome. As long as i trust the rom baker i'll supply a mirror. And i know mfrazzz always cooks the roms just the way we like it.
@mfrazzz: Isn't it possible to make the CommManager the way you made it look now, but then with the 10 buttons in it? That would be really nice. I really like the way it looks in your new rom, more than the black one with 10 buttons, but the 10 button comm manager has more functionality.

Damm, i had crossbow reloaded 1.7.1 on my wizard. Flashed back to default rom as i always do, then flashed to this new one using shelltool. But the flash process never came to an end, usually it says "all done now do a hard reset" etc, but nothing, so after 30 mins (usually takes only 10 mins) i pulled the plug, it seems ok, its all there, but the splash screen is still from 1.71, it's not the new one that comes with this rom ?
Maybe ill try it again later when i get home from work
Any ideas why the splash screen never changed ?
Off to have a play
mfrazzz

Unless I'm mistaken (I'm not a g4 person) I don't think Shell Tool flashes the splash screens, only the OS. I'll be uploading the RUU for doing the splash screens in a little bit.
As for the CommManager. This is one Dr. P pointed me to over on the Hermes forum. Its a port from the Trinity. It is designed for only 8 buttons. Basically you lose the VoIP button (which never worked as I understood it) and the Vibrate button (I never used that from CommManager so don't see the point), so I'm not sure how much real "functionality" you really lose. You can always add the 10 button CommManager back on via a cab if this one bugs you (I'll post that in the second post when I update it), but for me, I love the nice big touch screen buttons. There is actually supposed to be a matching dialpad coming out too, but it hasn't been released yet.
And yes, to whoever commented, I basically pulled an all nighter. I had something change last night so I decided to use the time to start working on this, and once I started, I didn't want to stop until it was done. I will admit that it has minimal testing on it, but I felt with the Alpha version I released and how it worked, this one was on good ground.
As for BatteryStatus. Sorry, I will not put that in this rom. If you want it, then feel free to add it in via cab (I put a link to it in the first post). This rom is quick enough, and I didn't want to risk anything that might increase battery drain (as this rom is VERY good on the batteries). I know it has features beyond OMAP, but I made the decision to leave it out.
Finally, for those that were running the Crossbow Reloaded roms... WM5torage is fixed. I had a bug in the registry that I stumbled on, and it fixed that. I tried to test every app (that I can test) last night and they all seemed to work.

ok cheers for quick reply on the splash screen, thats what i thought as well, but when i went from core 2.0n to reloaded 1.7.1 the splash screen went over as well ? apart from the fact 1.71 took twice as long to flash than all other roms ?
I have to use use shelltool as mine is G4 locked and like it that way, i dont have any issues with my radio so i'm glad i just change the os.
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this anyway. :)
I will put the splash screen on when you add the link
cheers.....

Mobinil

And i have lines in all of it with Radio 2.19.11 and 2.25.11 i have no problems with both even with this voice mail issue
Thanks , i wish that helps some one

8th June 2007, 05:19 PM
I forgot to comment on the Radio issue... The T-Mobile 2.19 UK radio is my recomendation (and a strong recomendation for Cingular customers) because it seems to be the radio that causes the fewest issues for people (just search the boards, and you will see that everyone that has had a radio issue on WM6 has went to 2.19 and the problems go away). Its not a perfect radio as it seems to not have as good signal strength in weaker areas, and some have had issues where when you lose GPRS you have to go to flight mode and then back or soft reset for GPRS to reestablish itself.
As with everything, its a recommendation I'm making, but if newer radios have worked for you in the past, the please continue to use them (as a Cingular customer, I don't have that option due to WM6 and their network having some incompatibilities with the newer radios). But please don't post in here that you are missing calls and SMS, or having VM issues if you are NOT using the 2.19 radio.
YMMV

Hey this ROM looks amazing, thanks a lot mfrazzz. Can anyone confirm that the push and hold comm manager, toggles vibrate. Thanks.
Yes, push and hold of the Comm button will switch you to vibrate. And by default, a push of the Voice button will do an AltTab function.
@ALL - I've updated the 2nd post with cabs for Cingular setups, RUU Splash, and the 10 Button CommManager that was in Crossbow Reloaded. Also lots of info there. The 3rd post has info on setting up and using MobileJustice (which is built into the rom). Hope no one needs it, but its there in case (so no excuse for not setting it up ;)).
I'll be off and on today and this weekend but I'm really going to try to take this weekend off from here (I think I've said that the last two weeks (plus) and still haven't done it... Yea, I'm addicted to this place ;)

YMMVI totally concur with the 2.19 for us Cingy users in the USA. Newest is not always best, be it OS or Radio. Actually I remember Faria laughing at my "discovery" that the 2.19 worked better for me than the 2.25 or 2.68 (which he had months before it's "release") .. turns out he uses a VERY old GSM on his Wizard in the UK that works so much better than the newer ones.
And yes, that Trinity 8 Button is sweet! That, along with my PaulyA Black Big Button dialskin and I'm stoked!
Looks like a great job mfrazzz! (My wife inherited my Wizard and I'm not sure if she's gonna let go of the Faria, LOL!)
and btw, the HTTP link is working for me as I'm dl'ing it now.....

Does the PaulyA Black Big Button dialskin support WM6 smartdial? If so, where can I get it from. The only big button skins I have seen for WM6 is the beta one with WM6 smartdial (grey in color), and the bigdialpad (also grey) with the video button, but WM5 smartdial.

... This rom is quick enough, and I didn't want to risk anything that might increase battery drain (as this rom is VERY good on the batteries). ...I was hesitant whether I should try this one when started reading this thread. This comment gives me a "Go Ahead" reason. There is no NBA game tonight so I can spend a few hours to reflash my phone.
Thanks a lot.

Hey mfrazzz.... did you get a chance to test that newer radio that was included in the original rom? Just curious.
Thanks
mfrazzz
8th June 2007, 10:19 PM
I did not test the 2.40 that came from that guy's dump. But I did test the 2.40 that Faria released a month or so ago (I suspect its the same as he said he had gotten it with a rom he couldn't release, and now he has released a rom based on this same build). Faria's 2.40 did not work (same missed calls and sms messages as before). Madcap180 tried the 2.61 (or 2.69) and Cingular 2.25 and he had issues with those too. So it appears this does NOT solve the radio issue (i was hoping it would).

As I was running the interm build with the 2.47.11 radio on it, I had not one problem, I let it sleep, sent sms mesages to it after a good nights rest, just like what you said to do to test the Radio. I also Always had good reception even in my Garage. So, I flashed back to the 2.19.11 radio and put XM6 on it. I set everything up, cyberon voice commander, adobe, and sirius, In my office, I kept loosing reception. No reception out in the garage at all. So I flashed back to the 2.47.11 Radio. Reception is back and have not had any problems with Calls, sms or mms messages. I just let it set for about 2 hours and pinged it, woke up and responded. My carrier is AT&T/Cingular in the USA, Az.
Also, I notice that the iterm build you set up is a bit faster than XM6.

t appears that this build solves two persistent problems in all other WM6 builds I've tried before:
1. When using "DeviceLock" Lock on Wake mode, after powering down the screen would suddenly "wake up" after some random number of seconds. No more. Same with BatteryStatus.
2. And this was a killer for me. When notifications are set for vibrate or vibrate and sound on new email, it would never vibrate when device is suspended (push or live account). This bug was also present until some point in WM5 builds. No more.
Thanks for the release. Fast, clean, and functional. I hoped the radio issues with Cingular were solved, but... I can live with 2.19.11

I've just tried out 2.25, 2.47, 2.69, 2.19 and all of them worked fine for me until I tried to call while I was connected to activesync. 2.19 was the only one that allowed phone calls to come through. The others, when I called my phone, lit the call buttons as if there was a call coming in but that was as far as it went. It never rang and once I tried answering the call thinking that maybe it was just a problem with it not ringing but it wouldn't answer the call either.

Hmmm... I never tried 2.47. I had major issues with it here in Colorado back on WM5 so have never touched it again. Maybe I should give it another look.
Like I said, 2.40 definetly didn't work for me. Let the phone sleep overnight and the next morning I called it a couple of times and all it did was light up. No ringtone, no vibrate, and no notification. Didn't even tell me I had left a voice mail. Sent SMS messages and none of them went through. I then picked the phone up and clicked on Start > Programs (nothing else). Called again and it rang. Sent an SMS and that came through.
Also, I notice that the iterm build you set up is a bit faster than XM6.
Interesting. I went from the test build, to faria's new on, and then to this one. This one is faster (IMO) to Faria's but I didn't test from the first one to this one. I was thinking this one was faster than the first, but maybe thats just me being hopeful ;) But either way, its still very quick compared to other roms (IMO). This is faster than Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 (which I was very happy with and had quit overclocking on it).
Just as an FYI: This rom has been on my phone now for about 15 hours. During that time I've only had it connected to my laptop once for about 5 mins. My battery is still showing 90% :) :) :). I've been busy today and not doing much gprs, but I'll be doing that shortly and then will see how it does.

I had the same problem as vbulkin with it waking up using other builds and I figured out that what was causing that problem was a change in signal strength was causing it wake up. BatteryStatus may have been the cause behind that but I'm not sure because I never got around to uninstalling it to find out for sure. And, if the thing you're talking about that was a problem in batterystatus is that all the icon tend to dissappear except for the the first battery/charger icon and the battery % charged icon, that isn't a build specific problem because it happens to me no matter what build I'm using. It even happens to me in WM5. That's my next quest is to figure out why it does that. The only reason I haven't yet is because there's over 100 pages of posts in the batterystatus thread and I've been dreading having to go through all of them to try and find an answer.

Well this rom is strange for me, it's the only rom that never completes the flash process using shelltool. I have to pull the usb lead out after i give up waiting.
I have tried this out on two different pc's, same result.
Every other rom completes in 10 mins (except reloaded 1.7.1, 18 mins)
Anyone else having this issue ?
Also for me i think that 1.7.1 is faster than xm6
And also the stereo bluetooth quality is very harsh sounding on vocals, yet the music is fine on both of the above roms ?
Think i'll try reloaded 1.7 final out, or may go back to core 2.0n, thats the one i have settle with the best.

I have read on this ROM and in the beta version that shelltool did not complete the flash process, but after about 30 mins, removing the USB and hard restting did produce a working ROM; was this the case for you? I am going to try flashing with shelltool tonight when I get home, and will post my results.

Odd... I finally get somewhere in figuring out how to get to Bluetooth Settings to perform the pairing to my jabra BT250 and Voice Commander doesn't "wake up" when I hit my headset button nor does it announce anything! harrumph! I've always had some strangeness with the early builds of WM6.... but didn't expect this build to have the same....
I remember seeing somewhere that there was a registry hack to fix this - just reporting it up the chain to the rom masters that be ;)
This baby is FAST!!
Off to search the forum for the BlueTooth fix.... bleah....
EDIT:
Ok... incoming calls ARE announced as well as Text messages.... just activating Voice Command doesn't work via the Bluetooth button on my headset... works fine via the hardware button.... I KNOW I've seen the fix for this SOMEWHERE

Just thought I'd let you know that I just got finished testing radio versions 2.19, 2.24, 2.25, 2.40, 2.47, 2.69, and Farias 2.69. The tests only consisted of testing them for recieving phone calls and sending and recieving sms's unconnected to activesync and then while it was connected to activesync. All of them seemed to work fine while not connected to activesync but only 2.19 and farias 2.69 would work while it was connected. Hope this helps a little in the testing.

I used to have a BT250, and it should work just like my Explorer 510 headset. You can't just press the button, but you press and hold it until you hear the second lower tone beep (so you'll get the first beep, then after a second or two holding the button you'll get the lower tone one), then let go and you should hear a higer pitch double "chirp" (dull chime? ;) which lets you know VC is active and listening. Then you can speak your command.
Sorry if you already knew this, but VC is working fine for me on my headset. Also tested it with my Stereo Spiders and it worked with them too.
As for announcing and stuff, Start > Settings > Voice Command . Click on notifications and options to get it configured to how you like it.
Again, if you already knew all of this, sorry but just wanted to be clear.
@ALL - I'm out of here for the weekend. I may pop in some, but my plan is to stay off the boards (except maybe from my phone if I have down time) most of this weekend. Have a good one and Enjoy!

I haven´t flashed XM6 yet, but has happened to me before with Core 2.0n, Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 & 1.7.1. I read in some thread that it has happened also in some of the Faria´s ROMs. Doesn´t bother me to wait and give it 30 or 40 min to finish, although first time it was scary.....
EDIT: XM6 Flashed now and same Shell Tool hanging, I insist: It doesn´t matter if at the end one gets this wonderful ROM working.

WeatherPanel is a trial that doesn't expire. The developer went "missing" over a year ago, so its considered freeware by most now. You can still register it but some think the money doesn't get to the developer now (and you may not get a registration code).

Excellent release mfrazz!
I just replaced the comm manager... I will return to the 8 button CM after it is fixed (I liked it more than the 10 button CM, but I liked the settings even more...).
I noticed one nice thing - in previous versions of WM6 the phone occasionaly froze when starting after soft reset (another soft reset helped, so it was no problem, but still a nuisance). I have not had that freeze on XDA Mobile 6. It seems that the phone starts longer time, but more reliably.
The last thing I want to mention is that it would be good to add the link to one of the first posts to download Java "Midlet Manager". This is an essentiall application ("Opera Mini" is by far the best browser when being on a slow GPRS line). The "Intent Midlet Manager" can be downloaded in this thread:

Hi mfrazzz,
Gongrats on this one.
UseJointstereo=1 still gives me mono, but even with this key on zero (default) , the soundquality improved compared with 1.7. Also the voice button on the headset gives me voice command instead of the phone (great).
I use the BatteryStatus bt option to go to my bluetooth settings, so i have no problem so far with the comm manager, wich looks really nice. It looks like the first step to the i-touch interface is made ;-).
One thing is different for me with this ROM the boot time. It takes about a minute or two to startup :-(.
rgds,

Hi
Flashed this yesterday and here are my experiences/feedback:
first of all, a REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY fast rom. stupidly fast in fact.
now for the issues: the biggest (and bearing in mind its only a small problem) that ive found is with the comm manager: when pressing the 'settings' button when in the comm manager (the right s-key) it should bring up a menu with 'wi-fi settings' and 'bluetooth settings', however, it only brings up 'wi-fi settings' and selecting that actually takes you into bluetooth settings.
the second slight issue, and this may be due to software ive installed (possible sure it is in fact) is, when using SPB Mobile Shell (v1.5), when 'waking up', it will show the 'now' screen and then flick back to the today screen.
otherwise, a pretty fantastic rom!many many thanks for it.

the second slight issue, and this may be due to software ive installed (possible sure it is in fact) is, when using SPB Mobile Shell (v1.5), when 'waking up', it will show the 'now' screen and then flick back to the today screen.
Hmmm. I haven't installed mobile shell yet, but I never had this problem on any other WM6 ROM. I'll throw it and SPB Weather on today and report my findings.

I just got it installed and like it very much. One bug is found here:
There is only one option - wifi - under "settings" in commmanager. However, if you click on it, it goes to bt settings.
Does it just happen to me?
No, it happens to everyone - in fact, it's been reported in this thread many, many times.

I am still looking for the solution to use Windows Live Messenger on your rom without adding the contacts to my phone book... Mfrazzz do you know any solution?

hey,
one lil problem for me.
In the clock setting, my time will never stay in the pacific mode.
Keeps on going back to Mountain time.
Any way to fix this?
This isn't a bug... Its how cell providers do Daylight Savings Time. They basically send out from the tower that the tower is now a timezone ahead of the real timezone. On basic phones (like Razr's and stuff) this doesnt' show up. But on PDA's we see an actual location with the timezone so it switches our location. Cingular told me that this was the "patch" for the new DST dates, but I've heard others say it did this on older PDA phones too in the past, so I'm not sure if this is new or not.
Now with that said, I just went in and looked at mine (I always have switched from -7 Mountain to -6 Saskatchewan (or however you spell it ;)), but I'm now showing -7 Mountain. So its possible Cingular finally updated their towers where I'm at with the correct time for my TimeZone. Weird
@EVERYONE - From this point forward in the thread, if you find a new bug where in CommManager the settings button only shows WLAN and it really goes to BlueTooth, you have to donate $5 to me for not looking at posts right above the one you wrote. I also reserve the right to ignore all further posts you make :p . The Known Issues section of the first post has been updated with this (and other things).
RE: A2DP - It works fine on my Bluespoon Spider headset (best $40 I ever spent ;)). Sound is in stereo and very good (no hiss, but just a bit if high not distortion, but maybe thats the mp3, I need to test more). I'll look at playing with some of the A2DP registry settings next week (when I have time) to see if I can tweak it, and I'll update the 2nd or 3rd post when I do. If anyone else finds a cab or reg tweaks that help, let me know (pm me if you want so they don't get buried and lost in here)
RE: SPB Mobile Shell - This program has had various issues on about every WM6 rom. What was described above sounds different, but doesn't surprise me. SPB needs to update it for WM6. It works, but seems to have weird stuff.
@tna: Yes, feel free to translate this to Greek. mattk_r is releasing a kitchen with this rom (and some enhancements for gaining more space) so you can use that, or use like the Core Kitchen to extract this rom. I tried to keep stuff organized in a way that makes sense for me, so hopefully you can figure that out.
RE: ROM Reboot speed - I'm always amazed at the differences reported. For me, this is one of the fastest starting roms, but then people are complaining its taking them 1 to 2 minutes to reboot. No clue why that is. For those having really slow start times, did you use ShellTool to install? Are you on a G4? Is your phone locked or unlocked. What is your IPL/SPL? I'm sure all of these things add up to why on some its fast and others its slow.
RE: Midlet Manager - Dang... It is in this rom but for some reason there isn't a link for it in Programs... So just create a link to \Windows\jmm.exe and you will have Midlet Manager. I think it may be an older version than the one posted though so you can also install the cab and be all setup.
Ok, all, I'm gone for the day. I promised myself I would NOT live on XDA this weekend like I've done the past 3 or 4 weeks, so good luck all. I will pop in but only for a quick mass post like this one and then gone for about a day. I'm sure you guys can work stuff out on your own with questions, and so far it looks like no major issues yet...

First off, I can't help it. I have a very high-fiber diet. ;)
Second, I believe mfrazzz tested it out and had the same dropped calls and missing mms issues as with other ROMs using it.

The camera don't show the picture theme and a warning appear and say:

WeatherPanel is a trial that doesn't expire. The developer went "missing" over a year ago, so its considered freeware by most now. You can still register it but some think the money doesn't get to the developer now (and you may not get a registration code).

Anyone notice that if you go into phone settings and dont change anything and hit the close button it doesn't close but it changes the ringtone back to the default ringtone? After that you can change your ringtone back to the one you had and then hit the close button and it will close again without changing it back to the default ringtone. Kinda weird, but nothing that can't be lived with.

The ROM is fast and stable like everyone keep on saying. Those who are having issue using Shell tool just let it flash for 20 minutes and then close the command prompt window. I have a small Issue though and like after I have installed “MS Voice Command 1.6 US” I can’t use the headset to listen to Music or anything else. When I press the button on Bluetooth headset it activates Voice Command and as the Microphone disappears so does everything which was playing. I am using H700 headset and doesn’t appear to be stereo headset but I can still listen to Video and Music on Bluetooth. Great work!!!

great rom and I like the speed. Thanks for the work Mfrazz.
One problem I noticed and I am not sure if it's just me or not, but when I change something on the today screen, it doesn't refresh the changes automatically like other WM6 roms. After a soft Reset everything is correct but I can't ever seem to get it to the today screen to refresh changes without a soft reboot.
Also I have been running the 2.47.11 radio all day and I haven't missed any calls or SMS messages.

Thought I'd share a little trick that I use to get my today screen to repaint when I have problems like that, I attached screen rotate to one of the hardware buttons that I never used. When I need something to repaint and it doesn't want to do it I hit that and force it to repaint as it goes in to landscape mode and then switch it back. You can do the same thing just by opening and closing your keyboard too if you don't want to use a hardware button. Either way is faster than doing a soft reset anyway.
Try hooking your phone up to activesync and then call it or have someone send you a text message and see if 2.47 still works for you. If it doesn't then you'll probably miss calls any time you use any kind of data transfer. That includes any programs that you have set to update themselves over gprs such as weather panel. I've tried every available radio version and the only ones that worked, at least for me, was 2.19.11 and farias 2.69.11. It has to be farias version though if you want to 2.69, the other version I tried didn't work either.

As far as the radio goes, It was able to successfully receive a text message while connected through activesync. I also have gprs always active unless I am on the phone and I never miss a txt or phone call. I have used these radios before on other builds and I would get voice mails where the phone never rang, doesn't seem to be a problem here but I must add that Saturday isn't a real busy phone day so this could change come next week. As far as the SMS messages though I get sports updates, about 10 a day and I am gettings them even when my phone has been asleep for hours or while connected to activesync which is usually where I charge my phone.
I am on Cingular (At&T) near Evansville so it could be that my network is accepting this radio better than others. I hope everyone can have success because the signal increase is much better with 2.47.11 than 2.19.11 had.
The rotate screen trick didn't seem to fix my issue, so I will probably reflash it again to see if I can recreate it before I put a lot of 3rd party software on here, I hate to blame everything on these Roms because I know that it's probably some non compatible software.

Just installed XM6 which runs great with the following updates:
IPL/SPL 3.0.8
radio ROM 2.47.11
Everything is running perfectly. Also, I just installed the blackberry connect 2.1.2.31 and it's working beautifully. It boots fast, runs smooth, and this release also addresses a problem I was having with a flaky radio (two phones both with the same symptom -- I am assuming it wasn't the device). Going to flash my other wizard with this as soon as I get home. Fantastic job on this. It has everything baked in I want. Also, I love the calc-1! Great app.

Re-Flash XM6 and try restoring your goodies....let us know if this works for you.
When the extended ROM is filled with stuff from a previous ROM, it's been known to do weird thing....one of them is draining the battery.

I wrote this in the Crossbow reloaded 1.5 topic as a problem but since that topic is already outdated I'll write it here..

WOW , I mean , just WOW ! This must be the best invention since the wheel , the condom and the HTC Wizard ! ! ! :)
I thought mUn aRTM was good , ( no offense mUn ) , but this simply kicks ass !
The following are some features I found noteworthy ( these are problems I had with aRTM , so ..... )
- Super fast , even without overclocking ( mfrazz , dude , what have u got under that hood ? ) I mean , I could never run pocketmusic and steream over a2dp , but this is flawless , with some help from battery status of course !
- A2DP works out-of-the-box
-AVRCP works out-of-the-box
- Ringtones are not routed to the headset ( finally , I'm not deafened before a call )
- Awesome reverse compatibility ( well , with crossbow underground , I had several issues with Skyscape medical software not running , no problem with aRTM , this is even better )
More queries always welcome !
Small prob with shelltool though , it'll never report finished , so I pulled the cable off in 20 min ( twice the usual time ) and hard resetted !
Thanks loads mfrazz !:D

Sorry all, but don't have time to respond to any posts above. Just wanted to let you know that a workaround to the CommManager not functioning properly (specificaly, the settings button only showing WiFi and that takes you to bluetooth settings) appears to have been found (it worked for me).
To do this do the following:
SoftReset (and don't do anything else when it restarts)
Install the 10 Button CommManager from the 2nd post of this thread, when it finishes, press ok to all it to soft reset your phone
Now reinstall the 8 Button CommManager using THIS CAB (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=41063&d=1181348149). Again, press OK at the end and your phone will soft reset
Your 8 Button CommManager should now work with the Settings showing Phone, Bluetooth, and Wireless LAN.
Have a good rest of your weekend...

Just recovered my Wizard from Frozen splash screen which was a result of Fari’s new ROM (real thing ….kitchen pro which made my wizard being stuck on splash screen). The solution was only a Genuine T-mobile RUU which worked in Boot Loader Mode. All other RUUs was not working, saying connection error etc.
Then downloaded and installed mfrazz’s XM6 as I read well before doing this and was fully satisfied with the reputation of this ROM before trying it.
Its Marvelous. Feature Rich, Stable, Good Graphics, Fast. So Far Sooooo Gooooood. I am very happy on getting this. My Wizard is a whole new for me.
Really Greate Job done by mfrazz. All of us should say thanks to him for his hard work and must try it. You will fall in love with it same like me. It’s really Error Free. And 100% working.

:D you can't use it like advanced, it doesn't have something like put the files on theme folder and select, you can place your theme files anywhere you want but you have to do every setting one by one
whatever, back to my problem :D
before this rom, i was using core 2n(which i installed much more programs than this) and booting time was much less than this
i'm using same card and nearly the same programs

I have been using this rom for a day now. This issue has nothing to do with the rom exactly. But for some weird reason TCPMP is showing that i don't have the windows media codec for tcpmp. I can't seem to find it anywhere using google. I don't know if i am doing something wrong. I was using Faria 3.3 rom before which comes with tcpmp preinstalled and that works perfectly. My wifes phone has that rom and i copied all the .plg files from the /windows dir to my phones tcpmp dir and that didn't help either. I see a file called wmadecoder.dll on my wifes phone in the /windows dir but i can't copy it as it has some sort of protection.
any help would be appreciated.

mfrazzz, don't know if this issue has been reported, but i had a problem with a sms message that was haning in my outbox folder, causing to continuously send the same message. I first didn't notice it but when i looked at the folders i came across it. Is there a setting which i can change in the registry that automatically clear the outbox folder?
By the way, the new comm manager cab supplied by funman, works. Just install the cab over the existing installation and do a softreset. After that it works. So people don't have to flash the 10 buttom comm manager first.

After of few days of testing, and also the Comm Manager fix being issued, I am very pleased with it. I have tried many ROMS release, all had their benefits and issues, but this one seems to be the best. I have noticed dramatic increase of performance overall with the today screen, file explorer, and programs just being more responive now. I have also noticed that my SPB software such as Mobile Shell,Diary,Insight,Weather, plus a bunch of other 3rd party apps are playing nicely with each other.
Thanks for all work put into this project, mfrazzz
and to all the people who helped and gave their support. This site is the best.

I don't know about anyone else, but both fixes for the commanager seriously screwed things up for me. Just after doing it with the first fix installing the 10 button commanager and then installing the 8 button one back I started losing my dialpad. It would be gone within 2 minutes after resetting my phone and wouldn't come back. Then I decided to uninstall the commanager fix and it wouldn't uninstall. I ended up having to do a hard reset and then I installed funmans fix and it started all over again. Fortunately this time funmans fix uninstalled and now it's back to working fine again.
Oh, one more thing I noticed was that while the fix was installed claunch would not appear on the today screen after a soft reset, I had to go in to the today app and uncheck then check it again to get it to appear. Since uninstalling the fix claunch appears on the today screen as it should again. Not sure if or why it would have a problem with claunch though.

 Hi, I already load this rom on my wizard and boy!! this it's FAST, thanks! :D
I just like to ask something because when I used the wm5, I used to have the ncruz solution so I can launch the voice command over the bluetooth headset, it's very usefull when Im driving.
Anyways people arround here doesn't seem to like that software a lot, and Im happy that you posted a cab to recover that software, the thing its that i try to use the cab file to make the headset lauches the voice dialer, but it doesn't seem to work maybe its not compatible, can someone help me out on thatone.
I also notice a new setting call external gps I wish someone could help us out on setup it, I have a garmin reciever so that will be helpfull.
One more question, I also notice a new folder named applications, which contains a lot of applications that frankly I don't think I will use excluding registry and wififofum which its a descovery for me!! can some of this programes be deleted without mess up the phone?

Issues I had over the weekend:
1. Phone app would just plain old not work. Had to reset the device to get it to work again. Happened several times throughout the weekend.
2. Could not load Gmail app in midlet manager. Would load the midlet manager, then go no further.
3. It reset by itself one time for no apparent reason.
4. I can not get it to only download my recent gmail messages in pocket outlook. Never had this problem with any other rom.

2. Could not load Gmail app in midlet manager. Would load the midlet manager, then go no further.
My guess is that there is an old version of Midlet Manager in the ROM. See the first page, there is info about the Midlet Manager (including link where to get the newer version).
Actually, I did not know the MM was in the ROM, so I installed it immediately. I use Opera Mini 3, no problem. Though I did not try GMAIL.
As for other issues reported here in posts above - I have been using my phone a lot over the weekend and never seen any problems...
The only minor thing is that restart after the soft reset is a bit long - but that is no problem for me.
Othewise everything ok - no crash, no freeze, no compatibility problems with anything...
I had also changed command manger to 10 buttons, then to 8 buttons - no problems at all...

Transcriber
VoIP (See next post for instructions to set this up)
SQLCE

InGeNeTiCs for taking the time to dump the rom Microsoft put on his phone so we could have this base rom
Everyone that installed and gave feedback and support on the Crossbow Reloaded versions
Many others here at XDA-Developers.com that provided information, tips, and suggestions that I used when putting this together
A HUGE thanks goes to all the chefs that support our community!
A workaround to fix this can be found in this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1304877&postcount=151).

My daughter (14) is driven nuts by the fact that when I text I don't use abbreviations / shortcuts (except for a few things like IMO, YMMV, FWIW). So for me the suggestions allow me to text faster ;) Yeah, its annoying at times too... But then I get texts from her and I have to take 5 minutes to decipher the 2 and 3 letter combos that make up "words"... Yeah, I'm an old fart...
BTW: I've updated the 2nd post with a link to your thread on turning that off.
I have a ton of stuff going on this week, so I'm not going to be around a whole lot (I'll check in when I can though, as I have a hard time not looking in on things).
For those above complaining about resets, phone not working, dialpad missing... Sorry, but you are on your own. If you didn't flash back to an official rom before this one, that could be part of the problem. If you have 3rd party apps on, thats my biggest suspicion of what is going on. I've not seen anything like what some of you are reporting, and there are a TON of people running this rom and no other reports like these have come in. I try to not get frustrated, but I just don't get why some people seem to have constant issues, and others don't (unless they have a flakey phone).
I will say that I have now seen the slow startup time myself (went to soft reset my phone last night and it took 2 minutes for it to boot). My guess is its something I did as I've been playing with the HTC HOme plugin and then screwing around with the CommManager in so many different ways. I'll probably reflash and reset things up and see if the problem comes back again, or if it was due to 3rd party stuff and registry tweaks I was doing.

Well, the longer starting time after soft reset was for me always a feature of this ROM... I never had it otherwise. It had nothing to do with Com Manager. But it does not matter to me. I do not restart that often. The ROM is rock solid (at least for me) and that's important.

First time porster here but been lurking for months. I've installed your Rom the first day and the only programm I have installed is Voice speed dial. I have not seen any of these problems yet, no slow downs, no disapearing dial-pad, boot is quick, bottom line FANTASTIC!!.
The only issue is the soft key issue, mentioned before, on Comm Manager, no problem tough.
<edit> I allways flash to original T-Mobile first before flashing to another rom</edit>

I can tell you that I had a clean T-mobile base rom to start. Only secondary software I loaded was Windows Live Search. Everything else was just operator settings to get it working on my network. This is the first rom I have had these problems with so it's not a "some people always seem to have problems" issue.

Details needed... What applications do you use? Do you have G3/G4 phone? What did you do before this happened? And so on...
Since it works ok for majority of people (including me - not one freeze/crash, no problems with changing CM, phone works ok...), it must be something else...
Telling just "Me too!" will not help troubleshooting.
Mirek
sorry for the low detaillevel...
it's a G3. I've tryed the mayority of the other wm6 ROM's found here. i've been carefull downgrading to a official ROM before flashing and never had problems like this. Don't thing I got around to install any third party software before it froze. White screen and booted - I was trying to make a call...
I see now that the phone is in the same state with the official ROM i've downgraded to. White screens all over the place... Bricked?
anyone else got problems after downgrading?
EDIT: i've isolated the problem to the GSM-radio. I can't reproduce the problems when i don't have a SIM-card in. I've tryed different SIM-card but the same white-screen trouble seems to reappear...
anyway: can't get myself to blame it entierly on this ROM... it may very well be the fact that my phone ...eh, how should I put it... is well used... :-D

Oh, one more thing I noticed was that while the fix was installed claunch would not appear on the today screen after a soft reset, I had to go in to the today app and uncheck then check it again to get it to appear. Since uninstalling the fix claunch appears on the today screen as it should again. Not sure if or why it would have a problem with claunch though.
i had this problem with claunch, regardless of what rom I was running. I think it's the program since it hasn't been updated for years...last I remember, version 12.something? using batterystatus' taskbar buttons give a good enough quick starts (if you only need a few)

Being as I am a bit lazy I did flash directly from Molski to this one, using the 2.47 radio which isn't supposed to work but which everyone who has actually tried it says does work properly. Seems to me it does.
I wasn't keen on Molski as no one seemed to know how to activate VoIP on it and no one would answer any questions: All my attempts to set up SJ Phone didn't work (VoIPFone couldn't work it out either and didnt understand what the curious CONE FIREWALL error messages meant) and then I saw that this ROM was designed with VoIP in mind. Lazy as I am, I DID flash with lots of programs working in the background and at 99%, the computer did suddenly flash an outlook appointment to me and then crash Outlook as well as Firefox and corrupted the .pst file! The installation however stopped at 99% and the box went red (which looks worrying but as I have read, means nothing) and then concluded properly. Incidentally why the sudden homage to the terminally unhelpful Taiwan company in the first splash screen?
The Wizard then worked perfectly when restarted! I went into CommMgr and pressed WiFi and all it did was to enable WiFi service, which surprised me a bit as I though it was going to enable Bluetooth.
Battery Status then installed perfectly from the recommended .cab file (I have overclocked to 221 in case it helps with VoIP, - just to experiment!) and VoIP installed as well and demanded a restart, though this was far from trouble free: There doesn't seem to be anywhere to enter the server data, userID and password? I can't find any program anywhere or anywhere to enter this in Programs or in any Setting???
Also when you do eventually manage to get to available Networks, the list doesn't tell you when a network is security enabled. This is a bit of a problem as I wanted to use it to make VoIP calls on the road and it won't show me whether I can actually do this. Isn't there a way of getting it to log onto EITHER your network when you are at home or the strongest AVAILABLE nearby one when you aren't? If it is switching all the time, why does it feel the need to tell you this?
Everyone goes on at length about the radio settings: Why is there no discussion of whether one should use the version 2.46 or the version 3.08 IPL/SPL settings with these newer ROMs? Seems logical but everyone seems to be using the earlier boot-loaders etc???
Also newbies should know that after flashing, you DO have to go into PC to USB in settings and change the tick in the box to use ActiveSync (or even to get the computer to see the Wizard)
Anyway I would like to know how to enable VoIP if someone has the time to tell me and may bore you all with my further individual experiences but thus far this ROM seems to be really GREAT!!!

I seem to have a problem with my WLM.... I keep getting synchronization failed and also I can't change my display name, it keeps coming back with an error.
Have anyone else had this problem? what can be the cause of this? For the rest, I really love you ROM its the BOMB!!! I also have a problem when soft-resetting with WLM. It hangs if I don't touch the screen while booting, I though that Microsoft fixed this issue, but seems like they haven't!
Can someone post a work around to this problem?
Thanks in advance!

okay. been running this for 24 hours-ish. upgraded from stock t-mobile rom.
using radio 2.25.11 and all is good. no missed calls/sms/mms that i am aware of (its the ones you are not aware of that always bite you in the ass). speed is cool. although, honestly, how fast does it have to be? when i watch a movie on off of my sd card it matters so i installed BS to oc it to 260 and it works fine. no wierd button switcharoos like another poster mentioned. but there is one litte itsy bitsy thing....
the ring tones...my god the ring tones. is ms deaf? these are aweful. good thing i have a ready supply of clips. and also, how do i get rid of that wifi icon at the bottom of the screen near the battery charge display? i figure if i am using wifi, then i am and i know it, so why have another icon? minimal is good.
i dont use BT so i cant comment on that.
all in all i give this rom a 4.5/5.
great job.
ps
i reserve the 5/5 rating for an official wm6 update from an official source with official support. i am looking at you t-mobile.

Well, I think I solved my 8 button commanager fix not working issue. What I did is I went in to the today app and shut off all of my today plugins and then did a soft reset to make sure that there were no residual processes running from any of them and then installed mfrazzz's mfrazzz CommManager_8button_wizard(3) cab and let it reset. Before doing anything else after it reset I waited a few seconds to make sure it was done loading and tried phone pad only to find out that it didn't load again. Instead of playing with anything else after that I decided to go ahead and reset the phone again using the power button and not the soft reset button you have to use your stylus for and let it reset again. This time after it reset I tried the phone pad and it worked again so I went back in to the today app and turned back on all of my plugins thinking it was just going to do it again. Almost 3 hours later and a whloe lot of trying to get it to fail doing what it would take less than 2 minutes to get it to fail before and it's still working fine. I guess there actually is a reason that so many programs tell you to shut down all other running applications before installing them. Unfortunately it's never said that when installing anything on my phone although I probably would have ignored it if it had anyway.
One other thing I figured out also if anyone is having problems with the commanager and decide to uninstall it only to find out that when you hit the commanager button after the fixed one gets uninstalled it gives you that error that it can't find the specified application. The commanager is still there, you just have to go to settings-->buttons and change button 5 from the commanager to something else (doesn't matter what) and then change it right back to the commanager without closing the buttons app and it will work again.

Amazing!
Nothing short of a work of art. Everything is fast, very fast. Truly puts stock ROM from the carriers to shame.
To those that are thinking of upgrading. Please read the instructions, reread them, and read them again before proceeded. 99.99% of problems can be avoided by simply taking your time and doing everything in a systematic manner. I know we all want the latest and greatest as fast as possible, but an extra hour spent prepping will save many hours of trouble down the road.
One question I have is about the EDGE icon. In WM5, the icon would show spinning arrows when mail was arriving. Did MS do away with this in WM6? Is there a registry edit to get this feature.
Thanks again for one heck of a release.

Hello mfrazz,
I tried this ROM to upgrade my Imate K-Jam, at 99% it showed me Error 302, which as per the Read Me file if it occurs (happens seldomly) i have to give the phone to customer service to get a new ROM Code.
Fortunately for me i tried to install the original ROM from www.clubimate.com website, it worked and i saved my phone.
Please let me know is there any ROM upgrade for Imate K-jam. I tried searching but could not get. I would luv upgrade my K-Jam to WM6
Thanks..

There are not any specific versions. This version should work on all Wizards. Try again. Maybe use shelltools (search if you do not know what it is). I flashed my locked G4 phone multiple times by shelltools without any trouble (well, only the fact that sometimes shelltools does not end - I cut it after half an hour and it is ok).

For people with missed calls (phone not ringing)
Do you use Comm Manager button to switch ring/vibrate? (I mean the hardware button on the side).
I used to have problem on Crossbow Reloaded (sometimes phone not ringing - just showing the call on display otherwise being quiet) - mfrazzz wrote he had it as well and he identified that Comm Manager button sometimes causes it...
I stopped using Comm Manager button and never had any problems either on Crossbow Reloaded or here.
I use standard telephone ring (one of my colleagues said it nicely - phone is phone so it should ring not play songs) and I have no problems... Not a one lost calll as far as I know...
Also when you modify phone settings, do not forget to play always the sound before pressing "ok"...

I am not sure whether or not this problem is specific to me because I use PPCProfiles Pro, but I was having the same problems described in the above couple posts, and I changed the ringtone directory located in the registry at: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring\Directory, and this fixed my problem. However, /My Documents/My Ringtones was still the default folder where I had to put my ringtones. Apparently, changing that registry entry does not actually change the default folder, and I am not sure why, but changing that registry entry, did fix it for me.
Also, for people saying the ringtone kept going back to the default one, when going into Settings --> Personal --> Phone, select a ringtone, and then click ok, and make sure it does not change. For me, sometimes I would select a different ringtone, click ok, and the Phone Settings page would not disappear. At first, I just clicked the ok button again, and it would go away, but with a closer look, I realized when I clicked ok the first time, it was changing the ringtone back to the default one, that's why it was not disappearing. I then had to change it back again, and then press ok again, and it worked.
Hopefully his helps someone.

Hi,
I also have the problem that if I use the "Comm" button to switch between ring/vibrate is sometimes vibrates when it should ring. To be fair I think I have had this problem with most versions of WM6. I always works correctly if using the ring/vibrate function within comms manager. I am trying to train myself not to use the comms button switch.
MMS is working perfectly. This is not a carrier ROM and it needs to be set up properly. Every carrier uses different settings. In my experience a lot of the cabs which purport to set up MMS are just plain wrong. This may be caused by people thinking that US T-mobile uses the same settings as European T-mobile. If you have a problem get the correct settings from your carrier and set up MMS manually. Took me a while to sort out my Wizard but a couple of hours with "Google" finally got me there.

MMS work ok. I have just succesfully configured them and sent MMS to my wife sitting in the next room :-) .
Though it NEEDS configuration. I had to configure manually MMS connection (in Settings > Connections > Connections) and to configure its usage for MMS in Messaging.
It is no use to give your more details here, many settings are specific for the operator (I have T-Mobile CZ).
Go to the web of your operator - you will certainly find something (I worked according to the information how to set MMS in WM5 on MDA III - it was well usable for WM6 on MDA Vario).
You may even find some CABs to do the work for you...

A bug I just discovered - trying to see if its consistent:
After 2 days of just standby and what not, the phone does not show calls coming in, does not show missed calls or voicemails.
I accidentally discovered it when I called myself and hear the calling phone ring, but my wizard showed nothing.
Also for those of you who get the "Error synchronizing" message when checking emails, go to the email settings, click on options and make sure you select the appropriate connection to use when checking emails.

I'm sure someone posted a solution somewhere for this, but i can't seem to find it.
When pressing the hardware lock button the music stops playing in WMP
In my previous ROM the music kept playing.
Now the strangest things happen when i listen to music with my bt headset in my ears and the player is in my pocket.
The player does not lock automatically after a minute or so. All kinds of on screen buttons and icons get activated ;-).

If you are using any radio other than 2.19, then this is a known issue and as I state in my first post, I highly recommend using 2.19 radio with any WM6 rom (not just this one) due to lots of people reporting this. It does seem to be provider specific, but I know people on T-Mo in the US that have had issues with 2.25 and above radios just like those of us with Cingular...

BTW: I am writing this from my MDA Vario, so my GPRS works...

This ROM is awesome, thank you so much for your hard work and efforts mfrazzz!! EVERYTHING on this WM6 ROM looks and works great, it's made my MDA a whole new toy! The only bad thing I have noticed is it seems to take a long time to reboot after a soft reset, though once it gets up it runs FAST, any idea why the slow reboot? I flashed your ROM onto a stock 2.26 T-Mobile ROM.
Edit-Yes, I am a long time lurker but not much of a poster, I get a a lot of use out of this forum, I just feel a little out of my league with you ROM guys ;) I'm big on hardware, but not so much on software, or at least the programming end. I'm a huge techie, cell phone and computer guy, and I do post a lot on Howardforums.com as ilvla2 and dslreports.com as RR Conductor, so feel free to to critique me heh

okay..after digging much fixed! mms now works.
i did it manually from tmobile site's settings. the tmobile cab in OP first post did not work for me.
we are in business.
thanks to mfrazzledazzle and the rest of you for helping me with this mms thing.
first wm6 rom it has worked on for me even after changing stuff.
only thing i think this rom needs is maybe a better set of splash screens. htc doesnt do it for me.
time to roll my own.

Sorry but gprs works fine for everyone else. Whats your ipl/spl? Did you flash back to an official rom before this one? Might be worth doing a hard reset or reflashing if you are sure your settings are correct.
Both are 2.26.
Yes, flashed to official before this flash, emptied extended rom as well. Tried hard reset and a reflash... doesn't help.
It's weird. Somehow I get a feeling it's connected to the phone app crashing.
This sucks because I really like this rom.

FWIW: I hate that first screen, but I didn't know what else to do... I'll take ideas for future roms...
I've made some splashscreens before, en posted them before. Maybe you could take my first splash screen instead of your HTC splash. This one is updated with the sharp HTC logo.
Just suggesting.

On another note, I've updated the second post with the new reTOUCHed dialpad from The equinoXe. Looks great with the 8 button CommManager in this rom :)
That is a sweet dialpad - thanks very much for including it in this thread. One thing I'd love to do is change the link from the softkeys on the dialpad. I use Spb Mobile Shell and the contact search is so much nicer and faster than the default WM "Contacts" app. Is it possible to edit this cab to change the "Contacts" link to go to a custom location?

I think this logo should be added to the first screen. Its a much nicer HTC logo. I'm not sure whats been happening currently but it seems with each build the HTC logo gets worse...

Looks like this is really good ROM :-) . When people discuss trivialities like splashscreens and HTC logos it is a sign that more serious things work good (this is *not* irony - I am happy user of XM6 as well :-) and apart from longer booting I have no issues).

how about this? - anyone who feels that the boot time is very slow or very fast, post which rom you flashed immediately before this one, maybe that will explain the difference?
