Hi all, I seem to recall reading a post from someone who was suffering the same problem quite some time ago now, but I'll be damned if I can find it.

Basically my official HTC headphones worked well for a while, then I butchered them to solder on a 3.5mm female adapter. These worked correctly for some time then suddenly the headphone adapter miniUSB connection became a bit dodgy. One minute I'd be in work sneaking a quick episode of Kyle XY in, then suddenly the minutest touch of the mini-USB plug and sound is blaring out of the phone's internal speaker... not good! It would appear the connection of the miniUSB plug has become a little bit dodgy.

I've now bought a new miniUSB > 3.5mm female adapter from Expansys, and although better initially, the connection via the miniUSB jack is progressively getting worse. The slightest touch of the jack and sound is blaring out of the speaker. I'm assuming the contacts between the miniUSB jack and the phones' femail miniUSB connector are a little flaky for some reason.

Anyone have any experience of this, and any ideas how to resolve it?

open it up and learn how to solder..

if the contacts to the board are broken, solder them back. problem solved

if the jack itself is damaged, buy a broken 8525 or just the board, and switch the jacks. problem solved
