Country ID, prevents you from flashing unoriginal debranded roms.

The effect is correct but, just to avoid confusion, it's Carrier ID.

As said above, it's to stop you flashing ROMs that aren't supplied by the original supplying carrier (T-Mobile \ O2 etc...) of the phone.

Look at HardSPL \ Olipro if you want to make yours SuperCID (which means you can flash any ROM from any carrier) but be aware it could have warranty implications.
