TBH, I'd leave it some where warm and dry without the battery for a few days to dry out and try again. As long as its fresh water in the bog you might be lucky.
I've stuck my BT Head set through the wash a couple of times, dryed it in the sun (with the washing) and its still going strong.
Good luck

i have had that problem in the past, when my pda has been withrout power for long times, in most cases i founed out that the problem is aturly the fact that the backup battery is low or empty of power, if you leave it to dry then put back the main battery then leave it on charge for about a day or so that red light should turn to the green light when the backup battery is charged and it starts charging the main battery

lyonj2,
The Exec/Universal doesn't have a backup battery.

dry it up make sure it dont look like an accident! loads of bog roll in crevices and they will know what you did!!
put it out in the sunshine just to make sure they find no water!
