View Full Version : Salvaging a 4GB MiniSD?

As I posted in the other thread, I grabbed a 4GB MiniSD and it has not been working properly for me. My question, is there anyway to take a 4GB that is not compatible with the wizard and at least get it partially working? Any drivers to expand support for the cards?

Not sure what you tried, and I don't know if this is a permenant fix, but the 4GB card I received quit working (my 8125 wouldn't even recognize it anymore after about 12 hours in the phone). I pulled it out, put it in my home pc (with the adapter of course :)) and then reformatted it as FAT32. I loaded all of my apps back onto it (all in the PC, not via activesync or wm5torage like I did before) and then put it back in the 8125. That was 3 days ago and I've had no issues with the card since (crossing my fingers and keeping a backup of what I put on it as I still don't trust it). Also by doing this, the access times for reading and writing to the card seem better for me (before I formatted it when I first got the card, just moving a file to the card took a long time. Seems faster now after my formatting it).
Like I said, I don't know if this is a real or permanent solution, but it seems to have rescued my card. YMMV

Is yours still working?
I finally got around to messing with it again this evening and am having no luck. I can format it on my PC (FAT is the only option given, I assume it's FAT32 since it's XP) and copy over a couple MP3s. When I tell WMP to scan the card for music, it hard locks.

Sorry, I lost track of this thread. After about a week of using my 4GB card, it basically died again. I may try the FAT format instead of FAT32 (I run XP and had the option of fat, fat32, and ntfs also for my card)

Yeah. The card still worked fine in my PC, so I went ahead and just sold it to someone for his camera and am getting a different one.

You'd better to have two 2G cards than one 4G card, for 4G can not work stablely in Wizard. It seems crash at any time.:(
