I live in Japan and have a Hermes from Softbank. Thanks to the efforts of the brilliant folks on this forum I reflashed it long ago to an English OS, thereby knowingly voiding my warranty with Softbank. From what I've read on this site and others, Softbank is very diligent in checking your phone to make sure you didn't use it for "unauthorized purposes" - losers - so I can't take it back to them and try to sneak it by.
I've done a bit of googling and there are a few sites offering repair services, such as this one:
http://www.pdahut.com/store/product.php?productid=18376
I've also seen the phrase "send it to Germany" mentioned multiple times, but without any additional details. While I don't currently know anyone who lives in Germany, I'm sure I could find one. However, I doubt they'd be able to help me, or be willing to try.
My dear friends, what are my options for non-warranty repair?
For the sake of completeness, here is the status of my TYTN:
-dropped while powered on onto a nice firm floor from ~1 meter, battery case lid popped off, battery ejected
-reassembled components, no amount of power button holding will trigger a boot
-plugged in to wall adaptor and charge light is an ominous red - I can't recall for sure, but isn't the charge light usually orange?
-in short, it's D-E-A-D likely due to mechanical failure caused by my clumsiness/incompetence
