Consolidated Kitchen Central

Ensure you review this page regularly, as I update it quite often :D

Important Messages!!!:

This kitchen is no longer updated. Please see theloon's thread for new builds / revisions:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320159

I cannot possibly test every combination of everything here. Please post your issues - and better yet - post your fixes!!!

You MUST select one of the touch dll options in order for your phone to work properly. If you don't, it won't let you calibrate the screen after flashing.

You MUST select a Comm Manager selection, or it ain't gonna work!

I would suggest unzipping the kitchen and keeping it as one unit. I would highly recommend NOT mixing kitchens until you are fully comfortable working with OS components.

Known Issues:

Expect issues with OEM - lots of changes...

Limited testing, please post issues and fixes :)

Disclaimers:

This is a compilation of different packages and OS builds from this forum. I take no credit for providing the components. All I'm doing is putting it together for others to use.

If it doesn't do what you think it should, ensure you understand what it is you're trying to do first - and the path that is required.

If you don't know what to do with a nk.nbf file, or the difference between a guid and a ruu, you might want to do some homework before jumping in head first.

lol - after staying up till 4 to debug this thing, I'm not sure I'll be releasing any roms for a while. Plus I've got a lot going on at work - so my troubleshooting time is severly limited.

For now, I have my personal one up there (I'm working on the 8 button now). We'll see how things go...

That's why I'm focusing on getting a kitchen out for users to create their own. No one person can create a build that fits everyone's needs.

"feed 'em a fish and they'll come back for more - give 'em the pole, and they can fish for themselves"... another fortune cookie ;)

Also - note that I didn't start a new Pandora releasea thread. Other than the one I buried at the bottom of post 1 here, I'm leaving the cooking to the cooks. I want to work on some tools for building - since that's where I see the most need right now anyway.

Used the pandora kitchens before and mighty impressed with them, keep up the good work :)

I found what looks to be a few minor bugs in the kitchen, so far I haven't seen anything major yet but I'll post whatever other findings arise if any.

1 Voice command settings link doesn't show up in start / settings after cooking.
2 Voice speed dial settings link shows up in start / settings but I'm pretty sure I didn't select it.
3 Voice speed dial shows up in start / programs even though it's not wanted.
4 Mobipocket link shows up in start / programs but it wasn't selected in the kitchen.
5 still won't cook with Implus selected in the kitchen.

Let me know when you want me to break something else Matt. LOL!

h4ck, you're right, definitely slow downloading from there. I was getting between 20 and 30.
Just an Idea, If it's too big for RapidShare, it could be split into 2 (or more) chunks using winrar.
If I had a server outside of the US, I'd gladly donate some space and bandwidth but unfortunately they're both here in the US.

I'll post just the SYS and ROM folders as a single download, which might help a bit, and I can use seperate download servers.

MobiPocket is a default app - and installs automatically.

Not too worried about impulse - I removed it from the OEM pack.

I didn't see any issue with VSD - but then that's what I use. Did you install VC or something else? Did you hard-reset between tests?

I'm posting a new kitchen build with the 8 button touch comm manager, which will be up in the next few hours.

Thanks!

raventec

Yep, I installed VC since I don't use VSD. Hard reset didn't change anything.
The MobiPocket link just gives an error that it can't be opened.
I'll try the SYS and ROM folders after you get them up.

just a few suggestions...

1) you should consider to use that 8B. CommManager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311039 i installed on my device, works perfectly incl. flight mode and looks awesome. Additionally faster than Faria's one.

2) Please use one of these nice black keyboard layouts, the one which come originally with WM sucks.

Thanks, I really appreciate your efforts please include a vanilla version in your kitchen!

Uploading the 8 button now :) Just tested it and it works fine.

Are you referring to phone keypad layouts? I have a crapload of them, but I'm one to leave the customization up to the user.

I found the link in start/programs/Mobipocket. I didn't select it in buildos though , didn't try installing that one yet. I didn't dig around much so I am not sure if it's installing any files other than just the link if it's not selected in buildos.

Okay, so I got the 8 Button issue licked, and am uploading the files now - both the OS and the full ROM.

I didn't include it in the OEM Pack, but in the first post I attached a compressed version of Voice Command, which makes it nearly half the size (saving about 2 meg).

I also broke up the OS from the OEM files so the download will go faster, and you don't need to get what you already have.

Sorry for the bumpy release, but with these last minute changes - it should be a much better setup.

Awesome! That's quite a bit of savings. I see a link for VC under the pre-made roms, is there one for dumping into the kitchen? Or am I not reading correctly? Thanks for dealing with VC even though you don't use it, I appreciate it and I'm sure others will as well.

no problems at all - I removed a couple new additions to the OEM pack that didn't work.

nope, you cook, then change the pagepool. you open the compiled file with a hex editor and change a specific address.

Didnt do a hard reset after flashing as i never did that with any of hte Pandoras box kitchen roms and they worked ok. Have just done a hard reset and no difference.

Have just tried installing Arcsoft MMS from a cab as well and it hasnt created an MMS inbox either. Think i will try to nab the OEM packages from the old pandora rom and try MMS package from it to see if it makes any difference, other than that im stumped

EDIT: The link isnt there for Pandora OEM packages anymore :(

Hi All,

@mattk_r - Another fine kitchen... great job.

I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble getting BT Explorer to work. When you try to start it from program files you get the rotating color wheel for a second then nothing happens. If you go to the FTP tab in BT Settings and check the Enable BT Explorer check box the setting doesn't stay, if you go back to it it is unchecked again. Can anyone else confirm this?

Thanks guys!!

Just to update this, i cooked a rom with NO MSS stuff in it, flashed to device, then installed ArcSoftMMS from a cab file, then soft reset and MMS is now working fine

Perhaps faulty package?

Also on a side note, Matt did u say you were looking to do stuff with WAP provisioning files? I have been messin about with them for a day or so anjd have created one to setup my carrier GPRS and Wap settings, and also my wifi settings and a few other reg tweaks. Now looking into using it to set up my exchange account automatically, then will see if i can remove the email question from the initial calibrate etc screen

I'm not sure why your MMS wasn't working... I've built a number of ROMs with it, and never had an MMS issue (just tested it again last night).

I was looking into building and packaging "customized" extended roms for the different carriers and adding them to the OS roms, but that's gone to the back burner with the Touch release.

I extracted my OEM extended rom and wanted to add the cabs to an extended rom that sets up my phone so I can get SMS messages from Cingular to purchase ring tones (more just 'cause it doesn't work, rather than wanting the things). I figured while I'm at it, I could set up other carriers as well.

I just downloaded all of the files neccesary from the 1st page of this thread, built my rom and flashed succesfuly.

My question... In my "About" section in "Settings", my OS states...

OS 5.2.318 (Build 15342.4.0.01) .mUn.

How did mUn's name get involved with this ROM??

Anyone know how I can modify the OS to have a one line date within the Kitchen?
I know I can just create a package for an app LVMTime but many other ROMs have done so w/o this extra package.

Put somewhere in a rgu file in one of the sub dir in the SYS dir the following key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today]
"AutoSingleLineDatePlugin"=dword:00000001

Ps.
if you import this setting directly in the registry of your pda: dword = 1
wait a while (+/- 30 sec) then reset the device

because this is again a ROM directly from are lovely friends MS this key is not integrated in the registry.

I would expect around 31 if you don't have Live enabled in today, 29.5 - 30 with it. I honestly didn't check - but it was par with typical setups.

I wasn't planning a "release", and didn't even think to include that...

i need to cook something, at last.

one question: how to change pagepool with that kitchen, is it possible to change it before cook?
sorry for nooby question, just need to know...

btw i found that dialpad, it may be nice with commgr skin altogether...small cab,imo..maybe someone will like this 1..

That's a sweet dialpad... Perfect for a black theme...
Do you happen to know if there's an updated version? There seems to be a fixed cell in the bottom left corner of the display that cuts off the bottom of the dialed numbers when you exceed 4 digits.

Thanks much for the awesomeness of this (I was going to try something similar this week) and the added add ons.

Some thoughts for additional OEM package reg tweaks

1. Hide Sim contacts
2. Disable IE background sounds
3. Disable "Go on-line warning"
4. IE enable 4-way navigation
5. GPRS always on option

Also, I was wondering if you or mfrazzz might have packages for
1. the time sync app he included (it was in the m-frazzz aps folder in his OEM along with a few others),
2. the pocket screen app he included (same folder)
3. Just the task manager (it is in the folder called contacts manager in his OEM folder)
4. Just live search (cab attached)

Thanks much and thanks again for all the work we do so other people's devices can be different :)

Hmm... seems like you haven't played w/ kitchens b4...

Here's a brief summary:
1. Create a new folder (name it whatever you like) in C: and extract the files in there.
2. Run BuildOS.exe, select the packages you want, build, then exit.
3. Run CreateROM.bat. If there is an error while running, you selected too many packages in Step 2.
4. Go in the "flashing" folder and run nb2nbf_wizard.exe then:
a. set language to WWE
b. check off OS
c. click the "..." button and browse to the temp folder and point it to the 80040000-OS.nb file.
d. click the image name droplist and select OS
e. click the Translate button then exit
5. Flash your ROM using the ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the dialer skin that is in the core 2.0n ROM. It looks basically the same, but instead of of speed dial the button accesses contacts. I personally rarely use speed dial since I have photo dialer instead but I would like to be able to access contacts from the dialer menu.

If I enable left or right in smartskey it interferes with changing numbers within a contact in smartdialer.

Dear Matt,

I agree with everybody that this rom is the fastest I have used up to date. I do however have 1 problem, in that I have no default ring tones for an incoming call.

I selected :

HTC X-Button, StartClean, And Total Commander From The OEM's,
and all working fine.

Did I forget something, or do I have to put in my own ring tone?

Thanks again

You need to add Windows Media Player as the ringtones are in WMA format and require WMP to work

Hope that helps :)

On a side note, i cant seem to get the extended rom launcher working, anyone else come across this?

1) as already stated VOIP is not working

2) MMS folder doesnt appear in the message application

3) Camera (i installed 3.3) is not working "...the file "Camera"cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with..."

4) I had to add some registry entries to improve A2DP quality maybe they could be included

Overall the fastest und probably the ROM with least battery drain.

Two Question:

1) does the 10button commmanager includes the beam and voip and has it the same design as the 8button one?

2) Will there be an updated version of the Kitchen???

Cheers.

I'm also encountering the same problem... I tried creating a ROM with ONLY MMS selected and its still missing. Also tried hard resetting and soft resetting to no avail. Installing using the cab seems to be the only solution right now but it wastes so much space... ><

So far the only thing I can't get to work is MMS. I've tried using the Cingular MMS cab and also tried using manual settings, but I have had no luck. I always get the "error synchronizing" message. I can send and receive email and send text messages, but no MMS. This happens even if I'm currently connected via GPRS.

I've tried using this ROM, the nbd ROM, and the Crossbow Reloaded ROMs, but all yield the same result. I've read and tried a ton of similar MMS posts but have had no luck. I'm pulling my hair out! This has to be something simple I haven't done (or have done) that's keeping this from working, since it works just fine with the default 2.25 Cingular ROM.

Are there any Cingular WM6 users that have MMS working that would post exactly what they've done to get MMS working? I'd really appreciate it.

supposed to reduce battery consumption by reducing the sd power mode. I don't have the kitchen on this computer, but if you look in the .rgu file in the folder SD Battery Fix (or something like that), it'll tell you where the registry setting is.

I tried the VSD ROM + 2.19 + Cingular CAB and still can't connect to MMS. Everything else works except MMS. I flash back to 2.25, flash the new ROM, flash 2.19, and install the CAB. Next, I go to MMS and try to send/receive, and then immediately get the synchronization error message.

did you choose disable error messages in the registry tweaks? If not, the that is normal behavior.

If you did disable error messages, then that may be a diffferent issue. I don't get that error in the rom I built, though I still remove the link from startup (including poutook) just to help with speed.

...software/microsoft/bluetooth/a2dp/settings

MaxBitPool = 85

Hopefully you figure out and solve the sync error in your next release. That would be sweet!

Quick question - since I'm stuck with either the Cingular or T-Mobile boot screen, I'd like to install a custom splash/boot screen. I haven't found any clear cut instructions on how it's done; can you enlighten me (I think it's in the nb2nbf_wizard file, but not really sure)?

There's a link in the wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Wizard) for splash screens - pretty clear. I built a few but don't include them in the ROMs - since I figure everyone has their own taste...

Hi,

I only have one issue with this ROM. When I use the "COMM button" to switch between ring and vibrate the on screen display sometimes indicates the wrong mode. i.e. it looks like the wizard is set to ring while in fact it is in vibrate mode. I have seen this on other WM6 ROMs and it has been reported elsewhere but I don't recall a fix being suggested. I have switched to the latest radio I could find but the problem remains. Incidentally radio ROM 2.69.11 works perfectly on T-Mobile UK.

Other than that; great ROM. I am using the 8 button/VSD version.

Aha, this ROM does also not make my Wizard turn on on USB disconnect.

Proving to me the .318 ROM is well aligned to Wizard hardware. Sounds reasonable, because it has gone through the hands of MS. I doubt there will be some WM6+ version that hasn't got this annoyance.

Or, in other words, thanks.

1. DPadmenu.dll is in both Camera 3.0 and 3.3
2. There is no dll in the retouched dialer package, but there are two references to it in the rgu as follows

@matt

i have been playing with the A2DP settings for a couple of hours quite extensively. since this latest rom contains the new bluetooth stack unlike farias first one (old stack) and his most recent one (aku 3.5 stack). please add the following settings.

...software/microsoft/bluetooth/a2dp/settings

MaxBitPool = 85
BitPool = 70
SampleRate = 48000
UseJointStereo = 1 (in contrary to WM5 this means real stereo)

Unbelievable awesome Sound! Give it a try.

cheers.

Are you sure you get Stereo with this option turned on? I am using mfrazzz's version of this ROM(UseJointStereo=1 gives mono output) as my ADSL line is down and I don't want to jump into Matt's Kitchen without internet access. I think this Wizard ROM is still using the older drivers unlike the ones from Mun's 1314

Just need to be sure... I am itching to jump into this Kitchen...

Geez, I miss Sydney, how's it going downunder, mate?

Yep, i read anywhere about JointStereo, tried it and since then it has been working perfectly. Personally i think = 0 means JointStereo, still stereo but much less dynamic. As i have already stated Faria's ROM (i dont know about mfrazzz's) is a former build if you use their old bluetooth stack (UseJointStereo = 1) it might be mono.

Well Syndey, to mute your wanderlust, it has been raining and hailing for days additionally it is damn cold. I would rather stay in Malaysia (I ve been there a couple of times) somewhere close to Rawa or Sibu...

I'm actually doing that right now. Here's the issue: If you have two packages that you're going to install, and they both have the same file, which do you delete? If you delete one or the other, then, at a later point, decide to only install one - you may be missing critical components.

So there's a couple ways to go:

Remove the ones from the camera you're going to use (assuming it's the older version), and one of the registry keys from one of the .rgu's, and run the build. (you're gonna find other files as well as I found out, something like cpcabrs or something like that) The search will only show the non "system" files - try changing your search criteria to include hidden system files. Keep a backup of the original kitchen so you can go back and make a different mix without really having undone too much.

Or, just add the duplicate files to the OEMAPPS folder, and remove them from both (assuming they're the same). This way, no matter which or which combination you run, you'll have what you need.

If you want to wait until tomorrow, I'm wrapping up a test rom that has these A2DP fix's included, plus a black keyboard (black dymond like T2), the touch dialer, touch comm manager, touch home plugin, and a few basic apps like office and VSD. It'll give you an idea what you're getting into. I was building it to try some more space and speed tests.

As for which A2DP version, I believe it is the earlier version - but I'm not aware of any differences. I'll include the 1413 files in the build as well.

Great News! Please make the today plugin optional since i dont like it pretty much. Concerning A2DP you are definitely using one of the latest stacks otherwise UseJointStereo = 1 would produce mono instead of real stereo so please stick to that one - much better than farias one.

How is work on the Cam 3.3 and mms issue?

If I remember correctly, the smartdialing components are distributed among the /SYS folders. If you were to add a new OEM pack, you'd need to be sure not to duplicate any of these files.

you might check again in the camera package - it should be a hidden file.

You should be fine to delete the duplicates, keeping the ones in the touch folder, and removing the camera .rgu settings as well.

Keep your original kitchen backed up, just in case you need to go back and try something different.

you might want to read Faria's flashing tutorial in the sticky. It goes over running the RUU and other kitchen basics. I can't begin to go over details because there are so many.

You don't need the nb2nbf_wizard, as it's already in this format (if you're trying to install a nb.nbf that you downloaded).

Easiest is to remove selections, and try to find the offending programs that won't play nice together, then find the duplicate reg entires in the .rgu files.

There really isn't an "easier" way to go about it - at least as far as I know.

It may not make the phone slow but having contacts in memory card can make the phone slow since the memory card is slower.

Those kind of errors generate a "log.txt" file in the temp directory with the dump folder. At the end of the file it will tell you which rgu caused the problem including the line # that caused it.

So look at the rgu's file name, do a search for that file, when you find it open the file up in notepad. Now with the file open either go to "edit", "go to" or simply press "Ctrl" and "g" simultaneously, this should bring up a little box check the line # from the log file put it in the box press "enter" and it will take you to the line with the problem. My usual problem takes me to the end of a certain rgu since I always forget to leave a blank line at the end.

BT FTP - Just doesn't work. The extra menu's are enabled etc but the Enable Bluetooth Explorer checkbox never remains checked, nor does the 'Bluetooth Explorer' shortcut in Programs do anything. I have seen this before and I think it is just a registry setting?

Camera 3.3 - If you try and launch the camera you get the 'Application is unsigned or something is missing' dialogue box.

Has anyone else noticed these two issues or have any others?

I have build several ROM's with this perfect kitchen. They run like hell after installation on my Wizard.

But during the day I noticed that the wizard became slower and slower. The ofter I used it to phone or what ever. Even without using it I noticed it became slower and slower. After soft-reset everything just fine.

ROM's build with the kitchen are nice, clean, low power consumption.

Is this slowingdown normal behaviour for a WM6 ROM on a wizard?

Second minor issue now way to get MMS working as stated in previous messages. But it looks like that's normal for a WM6 ROM on a wizard.

I thought this base ROM was a definite keeper, however as with most other ROM's regardless of the build, L2TP/IPSec doesn't work........ :(

The only ROM I have this working in is Faria's last one, which I thought was based on the same base ROM as this, there are obviously differences though. Even with Faria's ROM it is very flaky :(

It looks like I am going to have to try and stick with Faria's for the time being

Hi, ive had the same error....and ive worked out that your trying to squeeze to much into the rom! The error goes away when you cut back on some packages. It a bit of trial and error to find the max amount packages you can fit in the rom. try not to be to greedy :p

I could add lot more stuff with no error but once I include windows media player, I run into this.

I tried the other way. Unchecked everything except windows media player and again I ran into this error.

anybody have an idea; when i include Blackberry, the BuildOS gives me error with Default.hv and user.hv !!
I have had the same error several times. Now after I build a rom and have flashed it I make the temp directory empty. Then the error dis-appears.

Maybe it will help.

No. Before I make a build a make the temp directory empty. Then when I compile/build I don't get an error.
If you flash a ROM with an error in it some of the applications will not work correctly.
Most of the errors mentioned above are caused by the fact that there are duplicate files that have to be put in the same directory. I most cases you have the delete thme an replace the file by a shortcut to the other.
I had the same with several DLL files.

After examining the files in Faria's latest ROM and this one, they are both based on the same base ROM. However I assume Faria has realised there are issues with some of the original components and has replaced them. My issue with L2TP/IPSec is due to an issue with VoIP. I have error reporting enabled and when I initially tried to connect the VPN I got an error. I originally ignored this but when I opened it to view what the error was it telling me the file 'VoipPhoneCanvas.dll' had caused the error. I then checked the files in Faria's build with the ones from ingenetics and they are different; Faria has replaced the original ones (which were modules) with files from a different build (like he famously did with tnetwlan.dll to get WPA2/AES working).
I copied the VoIP files from Faria's ROM (voipphonecanvas.dll, dnsapi.dll & rtcdll.dll) into the \Windows folder on my test Wizard and soft-reset and now L2TP/IPSec does try and make a connection and the error has gone.

I will play around with this some more and build a ROM with the original VoIP files replaced.

Oh, and I fixed my volume slider issue as well....

Ok, i have rebuilt the ROM using the updated(?) VoIP files from Faria's ROM and it works, or at least I can see the L2TP/IPSec traffic on my VPN router which is goon enough for me. VoIP seems to work fine as well (I get BT Broadband Voice: Selected when I enable it).

I have therefore .zipped up and attached the two VoIP directories from my current ROM, but bear in mind I haven't done any extensive testing so it's possible there are other bugs....

the core kitchen uses updated imgfs tools that will resize the image rather than just the contents of the image. This can be good and bad. It will let the rom grow larger than there is space on your phone to handle it. If this happens, i usually notice around 98% of flashing. I have had it error out at 100% flashing on a couple occasions as well. if this happens, you will still need to remove items from your build.

really? I briefly looked into that, and didn't see any differences in the file size or date between that hermes tool and the one in here. I was looking at trying to gain a bit more ground by compressing the OS.nb or whatever that was, but it looked like I already had it.

Is there a trick to make the extended rom work? I've selected it in the kitchen and it doesn't seem to want to run my extended rom, no errors, just doesn't run it.
and two Camera 3.3 builds without error but doesn't work.
The rom I put together with this seems pretty fast.

Regarding Office 2007 updated files, I've made some experiments and it seems that the only wrong file in the old version was SYS\Office\xls2pxl.dll - 97 bytes long file containing zeros. nope. Each OEM folder contains an options.xml file. Try deselecting some of the packages in BuildOS. Some won't play nicely together, like selecting both keyboars, or both Camera options.

Testing out a bunch of new packages. Some were extracted from the old MMS, others are all-together new. Each is specific to itself and individually selectable:

"Clean" MMS v4.0.31.21
Streaming Video
Sun Java
MIDlet manager
SAP Settings
Phone Pad (like transcriber)
Cleaned Camera 3.0

These have initflashfiles added to put link in programs:

SAP Settings

Dear Matt,

Flashed this rom using the new tools and rom.
I have added the new HTC Touch CommManager, Dialer and Home Plug In. No performance problems at all, seems really fast.
However I did notice that the SuggWords=4 (suggest words as you type) in :

is back, causing the suggested words to always re-appear after a soft re-boot.

yeah, I've noticed some debate and dislike of that feature.

I have never removed it (unless it was removed from mfrazzz's base, which I stopped using with 3.0) and thus you might have notice the noticed change?

Okay, just when I think I can take a break....

It looks like something in the changes (MMS or Java) is preventing Windows Live from installing correctly - or so it appears on first analysis.

I'm running an install with just WL included to ensure this theory, then back to troubleshooting who's pissing who off...

Edit 1: Sure enough, removing everything but WL and it works...
Edit 2: Added in all the regular registry tweaks, still works. Now trying MMS 4.0...
Edit 3: Okay, now I'm down to everything but Java... if it works... ugh....
Edit 4: It's Java. Everything else is fine - just don't install Java if you're going to use WL...

Uploading the OS files now...

If someone is up to debugging this camera package, here it is.

Note that I have files under /OEM/DEFAULT, so if it already exists there, you should be able to just delete it from the Camera 3.3 folder.

Possible conflicts will come from the MMS folders, Streaming Video, MIDlet Manager, or SAPSettings.

Dear Matt,

Thanks for your quick reply as always.

Suggwords is easy enough to get rid of by just deleting the registry entry anyway.

I included Cyberon VSD when I flashed the ROM using the latest kitchen in this thread, and used your tip to use Pictures&Videos instead of Camera(worked fine). ROM is super fast.

VSD showed up in programs and settings, and under the buttons, however it did not show in the contacts menu, and I couldn't really do anything with it to add a voice to a contact.
I will re-flash, just installing VSD. and see what happens. I thing something is wrong with dpadmenu.dll, but I shall investigate.

2 separate points :

- For any other Cookers
I have noticed that putting the HTC-Touch Today-Plugin in the OEM section does not seem to slow down my device, only when installing by cab, although adding programs to the Launcher is still a bit sluggish. I couldn't seem to get the HTC-Touch Dialpad working though (this is a bit off topic!).

- Your new Speed Freak ROM looks good, but is it possible to have a super-naked version with absolutely nothing at all ?

Thanks again

Tony

Dear Matt,

I have found the problem with VSD.

Without installing Camera 3.00, the following files are missing :

- contactcmd.exe
- ContactSDMenu.dll
- ContactSDMenuRes.dll

I should imagine the same thing will happen with your 'speed-freak' rom.

I have extracted the files from the VSD cab Version 1.2 Build 061226

Very cool, thanks Tony! I'll update the OEM Pack today :)

Has anyone been using Blackberry Connect with a ROm out of this kitchen ?
In other words; has the OS the neccesary hacks in order to get BB online?

I don't think so. I heard of someone having trouble, and so they went to the Core kitchen and it worked.

I'd be happy to integrate the changes, but I don't know what they are...

mattk_r, dude let me know if the Camera 3.0 OEM Package (in your new packages zip file) is now working with mms 4 (the one cooked in the rom)

The camera and MMS 4 are happy as pigs in poo! (in other words, yep!) :)

you guys are gonna hate me, but I pulled the kitchen offline again. I am creating an OEM package for EACH of the Comm Manager configurations - so you can select what you want in BuildOS.

The reason is that I made a mistake and built a rom with the wrong OS base (ie comm manager type) and wasted a bunch of time.

Should have it up today.

Fixed!

Think i may have cured the extended rom launch problem

Have attached the fixed package below. It is basically an included .rgu file with a few settings in it. Just remove the old Launch Exteneded Rom folder from OEM and drop this one in.

Seems to work for me but let me know how you get on.

Fixed!

Thanks, uploading kitchen now!

In addition to the fixes from the last few posts, here are the list of changes:

Added a selection for the following comm managers:

10 Button Black
10 Button Blue
8 Button Touch
7 Button OEM

And made 1-Calc a selectable option as well.

Upload has about 15 more minutes...

So what is the build configuration? Camera and AudioManager? Is MMS installed too?

Are you using the latest downloads? (yeah, I know I change them way too much :o )

That's suprises me, because I had installed the camera by itself and it worked, but I hadn't tried it with Audio Manager. This would typically be due to a bad registry setting, but I didn't get any indications of this.

Did you remove anything from the OEM folder, like the DEFAULT folder? It has camera components in it.

Can you try and run this cab? Audio Manager (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SNANGIFB)

OK lets see...

MMS 4.0 (tried cooked in sys folder AND from OEM Package)
Audio Manager
Camera 3.0

These OEM's are from your new OEM.zip BUT! I didnt replace the default oem package with the one from the new oem.zip (It didn't cross my mind the possibility that it would be changed , is it ?:P)

Just added a couple extended roms.

Be sure you know how to install them!

Just to recap, remember that it's called Extension ROM, and 9B000000.

I updated my OEM packages,

Made ROM with

MMS 4.0
Camera 3.0
Audio Manager

When I click Camera button the loading animated icon appears and screen turns to landscape, but camera doesnt load. Oh, and with that new "default" folder, the system is veeeery slow

Okay, I'll take a peek at it.

yeah, the default folder files are a bandaid. I need to restructure a few of the packages and rewrite the options.xml to enable common file reference - and not to include them if not needed.

Matt would deleting contactcmd.exe, contactsdmenu.dll, contactsdmenulres.dll, and videostub.exe have anything to do with SMS/MMS not showing me server options? also why not modify your WMP Today plugin so that you have the option of using audiomanager or windows media player to play files? just in case

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\ Music Plug-In]
"Options"=dword:00000001

*edit* OK actually I can access the settings, but not through messaging/options/"sms/mms" those settings are the regular sms settings. To access the mms settings I tried sending a pic through mms and and went to the options when I pulled those up the server settings and everything was there. *edit*

The changes to be applied are in here:

If you could apply them WM6 would be a good option for me.
What Radio do you advice ?

That is gr8 news.
BTW: IF you include the BBConnect Client (instead of just applying the hex hacks and the AKU change), be sure to include the ..31 version (originally from Vodafone DE) Others have issues or dont work at all.
In the Core ROm they included the .31 version and made it uninstallable (just in case a newer version comes out. Let me know If you need the correct BBConnect version

I think I'll stick to my current Radio, it works ok and also it works with BBConnect (not all radios do)

Another option to add to the kitchen is IIWPO. I can provide you with a cab, but the thing is one needs to personalize it in order to be able to use it. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=256034&highlight=IIWPO
Its a gr8 thing (back from the Wallaby days but still works). It starts sending SMS-es to a pre-defined number when the owner info changes (ie after the device is stolen and the new owner start using it) IIWPO should be in ROM.

Hi, thanks for this great kitchen, i'm going to cook my customized rom with this.
Just want to let you know of a few bugs i found so far:

- voice speed dial registry settings (in /OEM/Voice speed dial/) are overwritten by the ones in /SYS/Custom Tweaks/ when the rom is cooked. This is not good because the key "BTAGExtModule" must be "OEMAGW.dll" and not "vcbthag.dll". The latter must be used only with voice COMMAND. Voice speed dial needs the former instead.

- the oem package "Change the location of Temporary Internet Files to Storage Card" is useless because its settings are overwritten by /SYS/Custom Tweaks/ (so the web cache will always go to /storage card/, even if the user choose not to install the package)

- batterystatus should be updated

- i found a new Windows live build inside latest ELF rom. I will try it and then report whether it works.

- OEM package Zoom_SMS includes two i-believe-not-necessary files, they are related to quicklink which is a different ETEN program.

- intent MIDLet manager doesn't work. It lacks an important file: rofs_target.zip that should be put in /application data/TAO/. Without this file i'm not able to install opera mini. Unluckily i've not found this file anywhere: it seems that all the roms in this forum are using the same, broken, midlet package. The only working cab i've found was the one i posted long time ago. It is a slightly older version though, .1023 instead of .1029. Where did you extract the .1029 version from? I can make a working package if you tell me in which rom i have to look (sadly, htc touch latest rom includes a version even older than mine)

- in /SYS/Custom Tweaks/ there are registy settings related to PhonePad. I think they should be moved to /OEM/HTC Phone pad/ since only users that choose to install phonepad need them.

- wm5torage should be upgraded to 1.75

That's all for now. I think this is one of the best/most complete kitchen out there. Thanks for all and keep improving!

Bye :)

Hi,

All seems very stable. I have been running my build, using the kitchen, all day with not a single issue. It's the first WM6 ROM I have not had to soft reset once. Mind you it could be that I am not using battery status or any of the operating system tweaks. For my use I don't notice the speed difference. I've always been a bit suspicious of battery status - maybe it's more trouble than its worth.

I use:-
Word
Excel
Email (not push)
MMS
Internet Explorer
Today Agenda
Voice speed dial
Camera 3.0
Windows Media
Smartskey
10 button comms manager. New 8 button looks nice but takes a long time to load.

The phone using a "paulya" big button dialler. I lose the "smartdial" function but never saw the point of it anyway.

I only have two other applications loaded:-

Batti - I disable the tray so need a means of determining the battery state.

TomTom Navigator V6 - So I know where I am. Works perfectly without overclocking.

and thats about it - nothing else is loaded!

I don't play games, listen to music and only browse rather than download anything from the internet. My use might not be typical but I am very happy with the performance. In the past I have always gone for the fully loaded versions even though I haven't a clue what half the applications are for!

Thanks for making such a great kitchen available so I can have exactly what I want.

Now if only I could leave good enough alone.

The office config is how it's supposed to be. If you want them elsewhere, just edit the initflashfiles and point them elsewhere.

As for the WM5torage - thanks. I'll fix the package and update it!

I thought the last one was perfect but here we go again.
